Hi, I read here, that the formula is 1 VR * 10 CP, so I my character was VR12, so I thought it would be now CP 120.
http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2016/05/10/dark-brotherhood-deep-dive-what-veteran-rank-removal-means-for-your-character

1. But I logged in today first time after the update and I see that my char has 294 CP? And why is my level not any more displayed in my character sheet ("C") window?

2. Also, why is the loggin screen showing that I am "LV50", when I was already VR12? A bug I suppose...

3. why did I receive 98 new CPs for each of the CP tree? I did not play any other vet rank alts, other than this main char

You were given some CP because of your vet level. That added to the CP you already learned puts you where you are now.

So, if someone has 150 CP but was only v12. Let's say they received 30 cp rom the conversion from vet ranks bringing their cp to 180. They're now CP 180.

Edit : the example is just that. Not sure how much cp someone would get for a v12. I think the max was 40 for a v16.

    1. At v12, how many CP did you have before the patch?
    2. LvL 50 is the new max level. Working as intended. you'll see your rank as lvl 50 CP #.
    3. See question #1

You should have as many CP as you did before plus an additional 30 for having a VR12 character when the conversion happened. You don't convert directly from VR12 -> 120cp.

You are level 50 now, VR is gone. Everyone stops at level 50 and then champion points take over.

Quick reply as I'm on my phone, as I understand it max Level is now L50 which is why you are showing that. The 10CP = 1 VR ratio is around armour and monsters. Vet 2 Monsters will now show as CP 20. Vet 16 gear / Monsters is now Vet 160 the highest level of monster and gear. You will have had a bonus of 2.5 CP added to your account for each Vet level, BUT you won't have been rolled back to CP120, you will have the CP's you had, plus the bonus (12 x 2.5)

the CP points I think have all been reset to allow you to reassign them due to the changes, so the extra 98 ones you are showing are not extra, all your CP's have been reset you just need to assign them again.(98 in each constellation = 294)

So your new level is L50 but rank is 294CP (Your old CP tally plus your bonus) so you, and all your Alts that hit L50 can now wear max rank gear (160CP)

That covers it all I think.

We were always Level 50, just with a VR Gear Modifier. This is why you could get exp and loot from mobs that were L46 and up, even at VR16. We were still L50 "under the hood" or kilt or whatever.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

One of my favorite things about the removal of VR is the reduction in the semantic overhead of describing character progression. Level 50 + veteran rank X + champion rank Y, ugh.

hmm, but still, what do they mean then with the formula in that link above?

    "CONVERTING YOUR VETERAN CHARACTER

It was important to us that the core gameplay experience remain unchanged with the removal of Veteran Ranks. To minimize the impact, we came up with a simple conversion formula so you can understand what your Veteran-level character's power level is both before and after this change: every Veteran Rank corresponds to 10 Champion Points. If you were previously wearing VR5 gear and fighting VR8 monsters, you will now be wearing Champion Point 50 gear and be fighting Champion Point 80 monsters. Gear will have the same stats, and monsters will be just as strong as they were before."

And I am totally confused now with the number of CP that I or other players now have: I knew before, that I was VR12 and I could understand that someone was VR10 or VR1, but now when I am CP294, what does that mean, compared to VR12?

and what does when someone is CP300 compare to his previous veteran rank?

The conversion they are talking about is referring to the difficulty of mobs. What was previously a vr8 mob is now a cp80 mob. If you are at or above 160 cp then you count as cp160 as far as difficulty is concerned, so you get full XP if you kill a cp160 mob even if you are at 501 cp.

All the points you have above 160 are basically just gravy, they don't affect mob XP rewards or what gear you can wear.

Not quite - the "Level 50" was redundant, implied by VR X.

Previously, for level 50 characters we had VR X, CP Y, now we just have CP Y.

Though we all know that each 10 CP represent 1 VR ;)

Well, CPs have a bigger impact on your character than Vet Ranks ever did. The difference between one Vet Rank and another was not all that much before, even with gear. It is not really possible to compare a previous vet rank X to another one because one could have 100 CPs and one could have 300 CPs (just throwing out numbers here).

Now, we compare characters based on Champ Points only, a truer indicator of character progression than the Vet Ranks were, as that was more gear progression than anything else. Even then, there was not all that much difference in gear between Vet Ranks.

So, going forward, it is best to just forget we ever had Vet Ranks and focus instead on Champ Points.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

interresting, that sound good. and good is also that since cp 160 you can wear any level gear, also "vr16"
