Update 47 is now available for testing on the PTS! You can read the latest patch notes here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/680228
The connection issues for the European megaservers have been resolved at this time. If you continue to experience difficulties at login, please restart your client. Thank you for your patience!

64 bit client still has massive audio issues; basically unplayable.

I know this is probably a known issue, but I've seen ZoS occasionally posting that they were either working on fixes or had already released fixes. I'm just here to remind you guys that they aren't working at all, and that I am now reverting to the 32-bit client.

- I always get weirdly amplified ambient sounds for a split second (like a chirping bird or something).
- Every once in a while a strange music track will start playing for a split second and then stop (it sounds like creepy cave music or something).
- The worst by far is the occasional "white noise" sound that will play, VERY loudly, for a brief split second, sometimes upwards of two full seconds, completely destroying my ears and making me want to cry.

This all happened when I first started using the 64-bit client, but it seemed to have been fixed a couple months ago to "playable" status. The bugs still occasionally happened, but were rare enough to be tolerable. But I just tried to play the game for the first time in a couple weeks and it is once again happening every few seconds and it is utterly unbearable.

These fixes ought to be 100% top priority, since (as I say) the 64 bit client, in my view, is completely unplayable and thus totally useless.

This fix seems to work for me:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/256261/zenimax-and-others-possible-fix-for-the-64bit-client-audio-hiss-stutter-ambient-sounds-missing

Some people have reported that it didn't help at all, but at least some users have reported either vast improvement of the audio or obliteration of the problem altogether.

I hope this can be constructive for some people.

Although the fix improves audio performance slightly, the overall problem persists. ZoS needs to fix this.

Seriously, when this issue will be fixed?

Can we please know if this is still being worked on? You even raised the official sticky thread about this issue, where we described and discussed all audio issues for 64bit, but that thread is gone now? I assumed the reason for that was that you gathered all info you needed to get this fixed.

So I have expected audio in 64bit to be fixed with DB update. I mean, months have passed since TG. I still get random noises, and no, what Dahveed said above does not help, because I'm using bare & clean NVIDIA drivers.

Every once in a while I try the 64-bit client.

After a couple minutes a random crash reminds me why Im still using the 32-bit client.

    Hello again!

I'm testing the fix offered by @Dahveed and I have to say it's working fine by the moment for me.

That fix doesn't work for me. I only ever install Physx and the video driver and disable the unused Audio listing. I still have audio issues.

It also (I doubt) addresses the missing textures that still exist. Honestly, they seem to get worse then longer I'm playing in a given session, so I wonder if it is resource management that just maxes out and it can't render anymore.

And no, none of these problems are present on 32-bit client.

    Hello.

After testing during more time, the noises and sound issues still here. Sorry for my bad.

Unfortunately I have to report that the NVidia fixes do not entirely work. Although it does alleviate the problem somewhat, the same problems mentioned above do come back to haunt me.

I'll revert to the 32-bit client for now, and I hope ZoS can get this straightened out :(

I know how to fix it, tried telling ESO Support but they ignored me - apparently they don't want this issue fixed. Guess I'll just fix it myself then and be the only one without these issues.

@ ZOS_CaseyCoffman Could you get with @ Betheny?

@ Betheny @ bottleofsyrup Thanks for tagging me, bottleofsyrup!

In regards to the 64bit client audio issues, we have identified the cause of them, and are looking at options to dealing with them.

In the meantime, we realize that some users have found workarounds relating to installing/not installing certain drivers, @ jpsgamingb14_ESO for example had posted a workaround for Nvidia cards over here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/256261/zenimax-and-others-possible-fix-for-the-64bit-client-audio-hiss-stutter-ambient-sounds-missing

There is no ETA for this fix being deployed to Live 64bit. When we know, we will be sure to let you guys know, too
