Hey all, I wanted to give you the Skirmisher build I’ll be playing for the next patch and the reasoning why. As you know there’s no ‘best’ build in ESO so I’ll try to explain the mechanics so you can adjust to your own style and needs. Now without further ado, the Aedric Skirmisher 2.4.

    Build philosophy:

My philosophy has always been to have alot of sustain while maintaining high weapondmg. Therefore I usualy give up some crit. Reason being that crit is less of an important stat with dmgshields being uncritable and everyone stacking Resistant in CP and Impen on gear. Sustain is even more important this patch imo, with the poisons that increase ability cost. I calculated that I needed 2 regen bonuses and actualy started with 4pc Marksman but ended up taking the 5pc since I had one piece left.

As stamplar what we have going for us is our healing and the 6% weapondmg increase in Balanced Warrior. Therefore I think it’s more important to stack weapondmg on a stamplar. Where as a DK for example might choose to stack stamina to have a better return on Helping Hands.

    Pro’s of the build:

    – Easily obtainable gear for the most part.

    – High weapondmg.

    – High sustain, can easily be used in the non CP campaign.

    Con’s:

    – Unforgiving, if you miss a dodge, you die; then again, you can dodge alot :)

    – Not much room to swap gear arround. No option to go 2 Bloodspawn for more resists eg.

    Stats:

20k+ Hp in Cyro, 30k Stam, 9k Mag.

    4.4k Weapondmg, 32.5% (42.5 after Jabs) crit, 2k regen.

    Race:

The obvious stamina races. If you go with a race with a sustain passive like Redguard or Bosmer, you can go with food instead of drinks if you like to improve dmg output even more. If you go with Imperial stick with drinks. Personaly I play a Nord and it works just fine. Just make sure to adjust the build to your race.

    Consumables:

Max hp, tri stat regen is my favorite. Being a Nord I get the extra health recovery and the extra magicka recovery helps me cast Extended Ritual. Max hp, stam regen is another option if you don’t want the health/magicka regen.

For races with sustain passives like Redguard and Bosmer, you can go with max hp/max stam food.

Tri pots are a good option, but I prefer the stam regen/speed pots. Immovable pots are also viable.

Vanish pots to help you get away.

    Mundus:

Again depends on race and number of CP etc. I prefer the Serpent for the regen. Races with sustain passives can go the Warrior for even more weapondmg. Low on CP? go Serpent.

    CP:

18 Blessed for more healing. If you don’t feel like you need this, put them into Thaumaturge.

18 Precise Strikes. With the Piercing Spear passive that puts us at 167.5% for crits.

27 Thaumaturge to boost your Biting Jabs and Poison Injection. If you favor Wrecking Blow/Dizzying Blow over Jabs put more into Precise Strikes.

    100 Mighty.

4 Piercing. Heavy armor specs will be more arround this patch with the Heavy Armor buffs.

46 Warlord. Stacks with the Marksman’s Crest set. My Jabs cost about 1830 stam iirc.

    72 Mooncalf.

    39 Tumbling.

10 at your own discression. I personaly put them into Bashing Focus but have tried Tenacity, Shadow Ward etc.

    47 Resistant.

    60 Elemental Defender.

60 Hardy. (120 points for the Unchained passive. Great way to keep Shuffle up with it’s cost.)

=> I rarely go the full 100 points to combat diminishing returns. I believe this way you get the most bang for your buck.

    Gear:

Head: Molag Kena/Leki’s Focus – Medium – Impen – Stamina

Shoulders: Molag Kena/Leki’s Focus – Medium – Impen -Stamina (See whichever Molag Kena piece you have access to. If none, go for an extra Leki piece).

    Chest: Marksman’s Crest – Medium – Impen – Stamina

    Waist: Marksman’s Crest – Medium – Impen – Stamina

    Gloves: Marksman’s Crest – Medium – Impen – Stamina

    Legs: Marksman’s Crest – Medium – Impen – Stamina

    Feet: Marksman’s Crest – Medium – Impen – Stamina

Neck: Agility – Robust – Weapondmg

    Ring 1: Agility – Robust – Weapondmg

    Ring 2: Agility – Robust – Weapondmg

Weapon 1: Greatsword of Leki’s Focus – Sharpened – Weapondmg

Weapon 2: Bow of Leki’s Focus – Precise/Sharpened (Precise to help get the Minor Berserk buff from Camouflaged Hunter) – Weapondmg/Disease (Disease if you want the healdebuf, otherwise go weapon dmg.)

=> Marksman’s Crest gives us great sustain with the 2x regen and the cost reduction. On top of that we stack weapondmg (1 from Marksman’s Crest, 1 from Leki’s Focus, 1 from Molag Kena and the Agility Jewelry) and with the new glyph we get more this way then on a vMSA weapon (189 on vMSA vs 384 with the new glyph). You can even go 4 Marksman, 2 Leki, 2 Molag Kena if you realy wanna maximize your weapondmg at the cost of a 5% cost reduction.

((514+129+129+196)*1.199+410*)1.28= 2k +stam regen (with drink, without any racials) and 5% cost reduction.

    129 (MK) + 129 (Leki) + 129 (Marksman) + 708 (Jewelry) + 384 (weaponglyph) = 1 479 weapondmg (before Balanced Warrior passive)

    Build comparison:

So how does this build compare to the most used builds?

    * 3 Agility/Endurance, 5x Hunding’s Rage, 1 Molag Kena, 1 Bloodspawn, vMSA weapons.

    ((514+129+196)*1.199+410)*1.28= 1 812

    129 (MK) + 300 (HR) + 708 (Jewelry) + 189 vMSA weapon= 1 326

=> This gives more crit, but less sustain and weapondmg.

    * 3 Agility, 5x Morkuldin, 1 Molag Kena, 1 Bloodspawn, vMSA weapons.

    ((514+129+129+196)*1.199+410)*1.28= 2 010

    129 (MK) + 129 (Mork) + 708 (Jewelry) + 189 vMSA weapon = 1 155

=> Less sustain, less weapondmg, but you get the Morkuldin proc.

    * 3 Agility, 5x Shieldbreaker, 1 Molag Kena, 1 Bloodspawn, vMSA weapons.

    ((514+129+129+196)*1.199+410)*1.28= 2 010

    129 (MK) + 129 (Mork) + 708 (Jewelry) + 189 vMSA weapon = 1 155

=> Less sustain, less weapondmg, but you get the dmg vs dmgshields.

    Skills:

    Cyro:

    Greatsword:

Crit Rush: Gap closer with great dmg. If you have trouble landing Jabs/WB you can go with Stampede but I prefer Crit Rush now that our Extended Ritual snares.

Biting Jabs/Wrecking Blow/Dizzying Swing: I don’t like WB/DS personaly so I use Biting Jabs, also gives me access to the Piercing Spear passive.

Executioner: Our execute, scales even better this patch.

Rally: HoT and burst heal in one, plus Major Brutality buff.

Extended Ritual: HoT, cleanses up to 5 negative effects and snares your opponent.

Flawless Dawnbreaker: Great ulti now it does physical dmg this patch. Also helps with the weapondmg stacking. Crescent Sweep is a viable alternative if you want to use WB/DS and still maintain your Piercing Spear passive.

    Bow:

Poison Injection: Already a good skill and buffed this patch. If your target drops below 50% hp with this DoT on (s)he in trouble!

Binding Javelin/Magnum Shot: Magnum Shot – Crit Rush is a great combo. That being said I prefer Binding Javeling for the following reasons. Binding Javeling is a stun and does not break on dmg, unlike the disorient from Magnum Shot. That and the range, 28 vs 10m, makes me take Binding Javelin.

Resolving Vigor: Your HoT. With the Major Mending buff from standing in your Extended Ritual, the points into Blessed and all that weapondmg this will heal you up real fast!

Shuffle/Elude: Most people take Shuffle for the snare removal. I tend to use Elude since I can cleanse snares with Extended Ritual (Different for non temps offcourse) and it lasts longer meaning I have to refresh it less often. With the hefty cost this is no laughing matter. Best cast after breaking free so you use the Unchained passive to reduce the high cost.

Camouflaged Hunter/Repentance/Radiant Magelight: Camouflaged Hunter to prevent your target to stealth, and to get the Minor Berserk bonus from crouch. Even procs when crouched and visible afaik. Or make them repent! If you run a race with sustain passives this might not be needed. Even on my Nord I can get by without Repentance. Or take Radiant Magelight with the Might of the Guild passive to prevent getting ganked and to empower your heavy bow attack or ulti.

Ice Comet: Great ranged ulti for on a ranged bar. I swap this one out depending on what I’m doing. Solo, small group, large group. Nova, Barrier and even WW are great here.

    IC:

The AoE is handy in IC with the mobs arround.

    Bow:

Arrow Barrage: I prefer the AoE in IC for the mobs. Remember every dead mob you can repent! I choose this morph over the other for the extended range and radius. Duration is less important in PvP since your target will move out of the ground effect anyway.

Binding Javelin: Great way to stun them in your AoE from Arrow Barrage.

Resolving Vigor: Your HoT. With the Major Mending buff from standing in your Extended Ritual, the points into Blessed and all that weapondmg this will heal you up real fast!

Restoring Focus: With the extra pressure from the mobs arround IC I prefer Restoring Focus here. 8% less dmg, 8% more healing and the Major Ward and Resolve buffs. Nothing stops you from taking Shuffle here too.

    Affliction:

Both WW and Vampire work with this build and will give it even more regen. WW has to slot the ulti, Vampire not since this patch. Just be wary fighting a mag DK as vampire :)

    Conclusion:

This is just my take for this patch. If you have comments, questions are other great ideas be sure to let them now.

    Update:
    - Mundus stone: The Warrior: As I get more and more used to playing this build I can get away without The Serpent. Even on my Nord. So for races with better passives it's realy no issue.
    - Tested Camouflaged Hunter further. It does indeed proc from crouch even when visible mid combat. So you can keep the buff up all times.

Does anyone have this set in Well-Fitted? Would love to see how the build does with that trait now it's buffed? Haven't got the pieces to test it myself.

Forgot to mention Battle Axes are a viable alternative with the bleed. Have to test a Maul, might be worth it with the increase in Heavy Armor specs.
