Nord Magicka DK Tank

Hey, guys!

Before you start shouting, I know that Nords are not the best race for a magicka characters and there are plenty of other races that will do it better, but let's just for a moment pretend that Nords can do it too, please, as it is kinda important for me for my tank to be both magicka and Nord.
So, I'm asking for advice on building such tank in terms of skills, attribute points distribution (probably all magicka), gear and glyphs and, of course, champion points with focus on pve.
I know that it's more than possible for such a character to tank veteran dungeons, but I am curious whether it is also possible to do trials? Now I am not very concerned with the latter but I would like to know if it is viable in some way.
Any input much appreciated! Well, maybe except "don't make it a Nord" or "make it stam tank" since it's not what I'm asking :x

I'm a pvper, but I'll see if any of what I can offer can help you.

Get undaunted 9, and go with a 5 1 1 set up. 5 light/heavy, 1 medium, and 1 light/heavy. I personally like 5 light because of the magicka regen, but as a tank you do need heavy, so experiment with 5 light first and compare your performance with 5 heavy. As a Nord, you won't have a very big pool of magicka, so this passive in my opinion is necessary if you want a big pool of magicka.

Get gold max magicka glyphs and glyph every single piece of armor possible with it. With sword and shield your max magicka is about 40k assuming you put 64 attribute points in magicka, but as a tank, you do want some points in health. I heard one guy said as a tank you want something like 25k max health and at that point you won't have that big of a pool. In my opinion, you can rely on shields to make up for the lack of health; especially with the next update.

I'll let a real pver set up the rest or update what I have.

There are many ways you can skin this Khajit.
I would start with a very sharp ebon dagger...lol

Seriously though with the upcoming DB changes to Heavy armor I would give 5 heavy, 1 medium, 1 light a try. You can craft the 5 heavy into something like Kagrenac, Julianos, Twilight, or Seducer. You can use the set bonus to offset the lack of light armor passives.

Sword and Board is required if you hope to tank trials. Both for the taunt and the block. You might also want to experiment with the Undaunted ranged taunt Inner rage. I know some DK tanks that use both the melee and ranged taunts. Usually one on each bar but like I said experiment.

I recommend a resto staff as your back bar. Will help keep you alive. Healing ward and rapid should be enough in case your healer misses a beat or dies.

Also igneous shield+dragons blood is a good combo to help keep you alive. For ultimate barrier or shooting star are great choices. There are different ways to approach the Mag DK but it depends on what you're comfortable with. By the time you slot your Sword n Board skills and resto skills you will only have so much room to customize the remaining slots.

Sorry I didn't give you a set build but I hope you can take this general outline and run with it. There are plenty of you tube videos with various spins on the Mag DK tank. I encourage you to check them out and see what strikes your interest. Best of luck!

I really appreciate your help, guys! Awesome, thank you! I was really worried I would get shouted down for wanting this particular setup!

I do realise that sword and board are a must both for blocking and most importantly the taunt. I am worried though about blocking, since that requires stamina. I suppose it's a matter of memorising tactics and knowing what you can take and what you need to block/dodge?

I am indeed researching various articles and videos but there is nothing like direct advice from experienced players. Once more, thank you! :)

I would say go a magic race. Brenton for straight magic and spell resist.

Dunmer magick DK tank is great. stam and magick boosts along with 7 percent to all of you dots!

Nord templar tank could be ok.
How many CP do you have?
Under 300 you will struggle not playing the right race.
