Maybe I explained it wrong. When your character reaches level 50, you will not be instantly made CP level 160 ( VET level 16 ). You will have to earn them.

The Op has stated shes already at the CP cap

She will be able to spend the newly earned CP ( on all characters ) once they raise the cap.

Ok I understand we are losing vet ranks, and that cp will take their place. And that cp are account bound not char bound.
So, I like new characters..... new slots are just fine by me.
BUT. When my baby char reaches lvl 49, I have always felt that that is really when I learn how to play her.... through the vet ranks. OK usually by vet 8 or 9 I have all the skills levelled I might want and it gets a bit tedious. So now she reaches lvl 50 and is instantly vet 16? (I have long since reached cp cap). But I am still not confident on how to play her. So calling her a cp160 is misleading really, because I have not completely got it, the skills, the rotations etc.
Maybe cp should be char bound not account. After all vet ranks were char bound.

I took it that she was saying any new character that she makes reaches level 50, will instantly go to CP level 160 ( V16 ).

When I think about it, its not just when they reach lvl 50...... they have the full amount of cp fresh out of Coldharbour, which makes them insanely op at lvl 3. So content is just not a bit challenging. I guess I don't have to allocate them, just as I don't have to play in Trueflame. I could just go to Azura.
*** hum... well I guess I will just go kill Molag Bal again with my newly minted stam dk and wait to see what DB brings.

This. I agree. Seriously. Get out. NOW. if that happens I will seriously cancel my sub, quit the game, and sell it on eBay. You hear that ZOS!? Don't listen to that guy!!

The reason that I've switched to the PS4 version is so that I would have no CP, I don't like them.

I'm sort of a barebones type of player. I would rather there be no CP at all and rather have like 75 regular levels or even 100 levels. But CP is their way of keeping the game interesting by being able to "advance". Which is why they have the azuras star campaign. Which is awesome, because I love when developers give bare bones options like that.

With all that said, if they are going to have CP, I think it should stay account wide. It gives you the OPTION of leveling with them, or not. And if you PvP at level 10.. Well you're most likely going to get whooped anyway.

Ok. It says you can wear CP160 armour, but do you earn 160 CP right away. I guess that was what I was trying to say.

So the OP has 510 CP - as they are across all characters (account bound) they apply to all characters.

If you are a vet 3 with say 50 CP you will gain 2.5 CP per vet rank (for your highest level char). So when DB releases you would have 57.5 CP so you would be CP level 50 (Vet 5) until you reached 60 CP (Vet 6) - You wouldn't be able to wear CP level 160 gear as you are not there yet, you would be wearing CP 50 then CP 60, 70, 80, 90 etc. until you reached 160CP

If you had a vet 1 and a vet 3 - due to the account CP sharing that Vet 1 would now be the same level as your vet 3 with 57.5 CP (Vet 5)

I understand that. But sticking a label on my char as cp160 when I honestly feel she should be wearing L plates is misleading other players.
So can I switch off the label, name plate thing and carry on knowing in my heart she is vet 1 or 2?

@AnnieBeGood I 100% agree and I've been blowing that trumpet for a long time. I don't like that as soon as a character who reaches level 50 with 160 cps is now at level cap. Not to mention that gear now has cp requirements.

Treating CP as a bunch of tiny levels is a huge misstep on ZOS' part.

People are going to get bored without progression. CPS might be enough to fill that desire but players with 200, 250, 300, etc cp are going to get tired of not having more powerful gear to fit their level.

ZOS has replaced a tedious, grindy leveling system with a shoehorned system that has no business being a leveling system.

I like the CP system, don't get me wrong, I just think it's like using a newspaper for an umbrella. It appears to work just as good at first but eventually it's going to fall apart.

I also disagree with acount wide CP. It makes no sense that our players have all those CPS starting out. The whole "instant VR 16" is a concern. Think of all the gear that's just going to be skipped now.

Players are also going to feel like their 160 cp character should be comparable to someone else's 160 cp character when they just won't be. A character that has gone through silver and gold will have access to more skills (because ofinding skillpoints) than a character that hasn't.

All these people who cry that they will quit of ZOS changed the system wouldn't be crying of ZOS never made CPs account wide in the first place.

So it's a case of "that ship has sailed".

Why not just go to your Cadwell's Gold zone and practice on the world bosses? They'll be max level, just like your new character you're unfamiliar with but will have high enough hit points to be able to practice your rotations, etc.

Why do too much efforts for every character?

I believe CP account wide fit well, many pro gamers does not want to go through again and again by same ways...VR 16 is very hard to achieve without buff exp scrolls...

If CP became character bound, I would quit immediately. The whole point is that grinding alts is super time consuming. Account wide CP and vet rank removal are two of the best decisions ZOS has made. Sometimes, the good decision can be hard to spot among the nonsense.

Just to point out, you can make a brand new cp160 the same strength and one that has played since launch. How? Because you are limited in the amount of skill you can slot. And you have more then enough just doing the main quest to 50 to hit the passives and skills you need.

Now you might not be as flexible and a really poor crafter but that doesnt affect actual strength of a character for most things you need to do. Heck i leveled up doing dungeons, no story quest and still had plenty of skill points for all the skills i wanted in my build.

The main difference in str will be total amount of cp not skill points. Assuming a person knows how to build their character.

I also disagree with your all those crying statement. This game lost a good amount of people as they hit veteran levels got into the grind. And in fact i left because doing it once isnt bad but there was no way i was going to do it twice.

Several months ago i came back when I heard they were getting ready to change vr. I came back with several people from a guild in another game. Around 10. You know how many still play? 2. The reason most of them gave for leaving. The grind.

I suppose technically you are correct I wouldnt be here crying if zos never made cp account wide. I just wouldnt be here at all.

If you took a look at my signature you would see I have done the vet grind more than once. Because I chose to.

However if I make a character in an unfamiliar class, no it is not the same - it might be as strong but it is basically unfamiliar. But now...... I will get to level 50 and then I am vet 16. No sense of completion, nothing to work towards. I do NOT want an instant top of the line char all kitted out in golden gear.... (which I could, I have the crafters and the knowledge etc). I have more cp than I can allocate, but just because she is suddenly a vet 16 does not mean I am well versed in playing her.

Basically there is no real end game anyway.... I have 2 first Sergeants so I tried the pvp. That got tedious. Maelstrom I could do... again and again and get beaten by the rng... and why do I need the helmet/armour/weapon anyway? I am already at the end. Other than bragging rights, what do you do then? The same dungeons over and over? Faster and faster?

Each to his own I guess but Gidorick is right. If you disagree I respect your right to do that. Incoming hissy fits............

yikes, I would dread grinding cp a second time around. As long as youre honest with the people you group with, it should never be a problem that you aren't completely ready on that character. plus getting them into endgame gear will make a big difference in power!

could always not assign any CP on new toons :D

Still nothing new to work towards.

well, you'd be working towards leveling your new character, right?

    only a few days.
skyshards. lorebooks. skill leveling. alliance war skill rank. undaunted skill rank. etc.etc.etc. theres plenty to do still :-D

I would love to see the vet system in place without the entire champion point system, that was, in my opinion, the perfect way to handle it, I'd love to see it go up to vet 100, there would be plenty of new things to work towards, its just completely ridiculous that a starting character benefits from your other characters.
