Is Dawnbreaker Viable?

Hey guys!

Question! Is the Fighter's Guild Ultimate: Dawnbreaker viable for Stam Nightblades? :)

Thanks!

Note: Don't know if being a vampire adds to this question.

In this patch Flawless Dawnbreaker is viable because of the 8% weapon damage increase.
Next patch both Dawnbreakers will be doing physical damage, though Smiting is going to be stronger. And basically a must-slot for every stam build.

    Hot damn!!! :)

Thanks a lot :) I'll be investing a skill point in it then :)

the increased weapon damage just for having Flawless DB slotted is why almost every stam build uses it. Add in the damage bonus when used on undead or WW and you have a great ult. Smiting does more damage but I don't think it gives you the weapon damage bonus that Flawless does. Right now they both do magic damage but that changes next patch to physical and magica builds will no longer use this. Then it becomes a question of personal preference for stam builds- slightly boost the damage of all your attacks or use a very hard hitting ult

Now and for the forseeable future, Dawnbreaker should at least be the ultimate on your primary bar for the passive weapon damage. In DB it will actually be useful as a casted ultimate too, not just passive. So yes.

it's super awesome in vet dungeons, i use the one that morphs to aoe stun for 4 secs which is a fixer upper when things start to go hairy like they normally do in pug vet dungs,. for instance vcoa.

Yeah, been said but most stam toons run Flawless on their front bar just for the passive damage boost and slot the ultimate they actually want to cast on their back bar. If you are fighting daedra, this hits hard currently. If not, there are better ultimates to use.

most vet dungeons run undead or deadra, i dont mean to argue that the other morph is a bad idea. i just want people to know the other morph is awesome with the aoe conal stun

Next patch smiting will be very strong.

Physical, 3% wpn dmg as well as 100% stun in a aoe cone.

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

I've wondered about that. Will Magicka Sorcs stop using it? I mean, stamina builds currently use Meteor.

I wouldnt run Dawnbreaker of Smiting if you PVE to be honest. The current 8% bonus to weapon damage from Flawless is just too good to pass up, as it affects every attack you make.

Next patch, I think Smiting will be better for PVP and Flawless will be better in PVE. They will both do physical damage and the undead bonus is being removed. Flawless is getting a slight nerf down to 5%, but it still boosts DPS. Definitely worth it on your main bar for any Stam DPS. The 2.5 second knockdown from Smiting in PVE is totally worthless. In PVP, I can see it still being pretty viable. If you play both, I think flawless is better.

I don't know about most magicka sorcs (although I would venture to make a guess that they won't). For me specifically, DB of Smiting comes off the bar in all forms of content post-DB. Smiting was a fantastic skill for magicka builds for both pvp and veteran dungeons until DB. I get why they made the changes, and whether or not I agree is irrelevant. It won't benefit my magicka build at all after the update.

Dawnbreaker is, was, and will always be good. I used it over Soul Harvest for awhile on my Stamblade and even being Magical damage it was a great ult..

Dawnbreaker is a fantastic Ultimate. Next patch it is practically a BiS Stamina Ult. For Magicka, you will use more Class Ults and Meteor.

PRO TIP: If you want one Ultimate as a passive and one Ultimate for actual use, it breaks down as follows for universal passive Ults (assuming you leveled up skill lines).
    - Stamina: Werewolf (10% Stam Regen), Flawless Dawnbreaker (8% Weapon Damage)
    - Barrier (10% Magicka Regen)

I remember reading in the PTS some people was posting Dawnbreaker of Smiting will be better for PVP and PVE.The damage it does is to good to past up and you still get a 3% weapon damage boost for having it slotted. While Flawless still gives it 8% Smiting hits hard and overall is being said the better ability especially for PVP.Its a turn up now both are good next patch for stam builds.

Yeah I suppose they won't. Stamina builds have always used Magicka Ults, but that's because they didn't have a choice.

That's a good point too; I still use meteor on my stam sorc. If I had it my way (not that it matters), I'd see a stamina-friendly and a magicka-friendly morph of both meteor and dawnbreaker. But I do understand why they are taking it along this route instead, even if it's not my personal preference.
