.. The same when deliver writs.

I always steal this alchemy bottle by accident. Running to destination, pressing "E" slightly too fast.

Its irritating when it happens. One time it happened in Craglorn and I turned around and a guard was right there, and I even asked him, "Did you see what I just did?" as I ran off to the wayshrine.

They do need to remove interactibles from writ drop offs and kiosks. Leave the containers for sure as you have a way out of stealing if you accidentally activate an owned container.

I agree. Why, OH WHY would the designers place so many steal-able items around guild merchants, and guards right next to them to snatch you before you know what is going on??

    Really, REALLY poor design!

I would suggest sending in a /feedback when you find the items and explain it. I know earlier in the justice system they moved some things around and even made some places (house) either not needed in the quest or not locked - something like that.

OR when you find things post pictures on the forums calling out specific merchants etc.

I think if they are willing to move anything, it's more likely if they don't have to go checking everywhere - they can just get told the most irritating spots.

Oh and I agree. I've gotten pretty careful now due to it... but it would be a lot nicer for those items to just not be there.

One - NOTHING should be one-click steal ever.
Two - Its especially frustrating when the vendor moves as i click, exposing the theftable item.

Have you tried not pressing E too fast?

I was just going to say that. It seems like it would be an easy adjustment to make. If you're playing so fast that you're like a crackhead accidentally stealing things in front of you, maybe it's time to slow the **** down. Why does everyone heave to play this game at a breakneck pace?

Is there not still an option in Settings > Gameplay to prevent accidentally stealing items, similar to accidentally killing innocents? I might be imagining it. I thought there was an option for this.

@Autolycus Its an option to turn on or off Auto Loot on Owned Containers. This does not apply to world items.

I've been caught stealing in Wrothgar when going to sell loot to the orc with the food stand near the bank because she moved just as I was clicking E while pointing at her and ended up clicking the object behind her. Now I have to be careful to stand at the right angle so I am hitting empty space if she moves.

I bet 90% of the hardcore endgame players, are making their movement quicker the more they play and get used to what they do.
This also is a problem when animation canceling perfectly, its too perfect so the lagg dont notice you doing it so you end up with nothing, making you lose time and dps.

Some people would laugh about this, but those players are out there, and those are the one who gets best scores and times in trials as well. I dont laugh about casuals, so I expect casuals dont laugh about hardcores as well.

Im one of those who have done writs on multiple chars every day for almost 2 years now. For me, stopping to have a look if its safe to press "E" or not, is not an option, and Im not alone about this, believe me :)

While we are at it can we remove the radishes hanging from the fireplace. I accidentally stole one when trying to cook and it cost me 75 gold -_-

How about when your trying to pick something up but end up jumping around like an idiot. Then you accidentally grab something else while you where jumping and get caught for it hahah. I'll never understand who thought it was a good idea to have the jump & action button the same. Mind you they could be trolling with that one.

My personal favorite is the drinking contest quest in the Rift area. You need to drink and eat given amount of stuff within a short time limit. You have to do this by running back and forth between two tables, pressing 'E' (use). Yet right next to one quest item is a loaf of bread which belongs to someone else...

What's better than clicking on the banker just as she walks away so you end up stealing instead and immediately get set upon by guards?

Absurdly dying because "Don't attack innocents" apparently is synonymous with "stand around and allow them to beat you to death, slowly, with their bare hands." Even when you were just trying to have a conversation.

To the OP, just be more careful when you loot something. Happens to me too...I just laugh and carry on. Games will be games, man. :)

They should *NOT* remove lootable items from these areas. I'd rather see their development time spent creating content, and not pouring over forums for nit-picky things to change.

I agree, it would be nice to remove that stuff from right around the trader. I suppose some RPers might disagree as you would expect a merchant to have things lying around to steal.

    @Oreyn_Bearclaw

True, Merchants should have stuff laying around that can be stolen. Just not in their immediate area or the area right behind them that can get clicked on, especially if they move around.

This is why this one steals everything they can before shopping in store.

But I would like to see an.option where you could toggle off stealing and pickpocketing the same way you can prevent attacking innocents.
