Should sorcs be able to control their pets?

pinchedrug00
I heard their was a way to command your pet on pc but on console sorc pets are uncontrollable. Please make it so that the pet attacks who ever we mark/highlight . What do you guys think? Not being able to control my pet who i rely on a heal for gets me killed in 1vx because they pet jeeps attacking its first target no matter what.

You can control your pets, I dont remember wich default button it is, but I have it on T, so if I press T then left or right mouse button I order my pets to either attack the target I have highlighted or to follow me and become passive.

I don't think it really matters who the pets are attacking just as long as they are attacking! The way i use my pets are, who every they are attacking i attack someone else.

If i had to control my pets I'd be to worried about what they are doing and hardly fighting myself, just let them do their thing i say

    They already can.

1-there is a targeting command (someone mentioned it above, I never use it) and

2-there is a "Daedric Prey" ability that not only targets a particular opponent, but gives extra damage when your pets (and even your summoned atronauch) attacks said target.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I use the command pet key very often and I can tell you it sucks. Sometimes when a mob/boss uses a teleport or swaps form, the pets will on occasion automatically stop attacking the target so you have to command it again to attack. The command itself is a frustration all on its own, it requires that you hold down the assigned Key its bound to and hold down your primary attack weapon key; while holding it down it may take 2-3 seconds before the game recognizes you want your pets to attack, or you may have to press both multiple times before it registers. There's no way to command the pets to attack different targets either, it affects all 3 pets as well so you can't put the Twilight on passive and have the imp / clannfear and atronach attack, it's either all or none. it can be weird looking at your atronach just stand there doing nothing because you put your pets on passive.

Maybe I'm just spoiled because of WoW, they have come along way with pet controls: Assist mode your pets attack whatever your main target is, usually by following any ability that requires a hard target like your Crystal Frags would trigger them to attack what the last target hit with it; as you change targets they too change targets. Defend mode the pets only attack what is attacking you, they won't respond until something hurts you then they go all out on it until something else hits you and they change targets again. Passive mode is when your pets don't attack at all until you command specifically what they should be hitting.

Would be good if the curse (DoT) would also include the "NOW attack this target" command to the pet but it doesn't.

Even, on the PC version, the pet-attack command is painful, as you have to hold the "pet command" button + left mouse key, which feels awful... It would be better to press one key only once! No left button-s_it!!

Don't know what the designers thought because in MANY other games, you have to push only 1 button to let the pats attack your target. This is one of many details of ESO which I don't neither understand, nor like...

    Op stated they are console.

There is absolutely no way to choose whom the pets attack on Console

All they need to do is make it where they attack the toggled enemy (by holding down right joy stick... or was it left?)

Simple, effective.... Isn't gonna happen soon :(

This may be one of those "RNG god things" then.

I'm on PC, I have a habit of re-mapping my commands when I don't like where they start (as an example I played Morrowind NOT Oblivion or Skyrim so I just HAD to have spacebar as interact-with-the-world and E as jump).

I never bothered to re-map the 'Toggle pets to attack' nor do I EVER use it.

I play several sorcs (Originally that's all I rolled up - and it was absolutely because they were the only ones who could summon critters to fight). However because I am a die-hard RPer (and fanfic writer) I also named my pets. Note the "story" of their alleged personalities were well established BEFORE other players (not just me) noted the dramatic difference in their behavior.

The Twilight Matriarch that is summoned by my Telvanni dunmer sorc is Van. He is pretty mellow.

Half the time he doesn't seem to attack, or if he does, he waits a beat or two to see how the fight is going. If my character (or the party) is in trouble he jumps in; but he seems to regard his role as "back up".

The Twilight Matriarch that is summoned by my Altmer sorc is Roo. She is a terror.

These two "story/background"s were well established before my fellow gamers (I play with a fairly regular group) started noting that Roo seeks out trouble. She will flit down the hall and engage random mobs. She is ungodly good at tanking (even more so than both of our usual tanks) and seems to do it simply because she likes to *** off bad guys. It's not uncommon to hear (we play and Skype) someone commenting that "Roo is at it again" or something similar.

So my suggestion to you is to ... um... name your summons something aggressive and incorporate it into your story. And maybe the RNG gods will hear you and things will change.

This post inspired by Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell.
