How much does Spell Damage scale off larger max magica pool?

I have read that abilities will hit harder with a larger magic pool, I just kind of assumed it to be true and hadn't questioned it. My magic regen is a bit low though so I have been using wrothgar health/magic regen food and hadn't noticed spells hitting much if any less. I have like 28k magic, but I have read about others with close to 40k. Is the larger magica pool that much better? Should I consider running green food to get it higher?

Does it work for all spells or just regular light/ heavy attacks? Also, how much better will this make my ultimate attacks?

Last thread i read similar to this said roughly 110 Spell Damage per 1000 Magicka.

I prefer Max Magic to Spell Damage I run Maelstrom with 42.5k Magic and 2091 SD 1595 Recovery with Twice Born Star and swear by it.

    Hope this helps.

Abilities are scaled different depending on their coefficients.

So using the link shown below, select the abilities you use and either adjust Magicka and Spell Damage accordingly to identify the impact on tooltips or just open the skill coefficients for each ability.

Approximate uncrit magicka damage = Max magicka / 10.46 + Spell power
Approximate crit magicka damage = [Approximate uncrit magicka damage] * ( 1 + (Spell critical chance * Spell critical damage)

    E.G:
If you have 40,000 magicka, 3500 spell power, 60% critical spell damage and 40% critical spell chance:

    Approximate uncrit magicka damage = 40,000 / 10.46 + 3,500 ~= 7324.1
    Approximate crit magicka damage = 7324.1 * ( 1 + (0.60 * 0.40) = 7324.1 * 1.24 ~= 9081.9

Thank you! So much! Cool link also, penguin. I've been trying to get better on my healer using julianos, Tourgs swords, willpower, engine guardian. Maybe one day I'll get Maelstrom, just gotta wait for them to nerf it a few more times, lol!

Guess I need to work on getting more magic.....maybe going vampire again for regen?

Not at all. Spell Damage and Max Magicka are stats that have absolutely no effect on each other.
You are clearly thinking about the tooltip values of magicka scaling effects of abilities. For these, the equation is roughly:
    (SpellDamageCoefficient*SpellDamage)+(MagickaCoefficient*MaxMagicka)+BaseDamage
The standard ratio of the spell damage coefficient to the magicka coefficient is 10.46:1. This means that each 10.46 max magicka has roughly the same effect as 1 spell damage. Some abilities do have a significantly different ratio.
The difference between 28k and 40k is 12k max magicka, which is roughly equivalent to 1147 spell damage. It is a significant difference.

All of the above holds true for Stamina and Weapon Damage also.

The information in this link is not up to date (nor does it have the DB changes), but it will give you an idea of how all the factors interact behind the scenes.
