Looking at the posts it seems that dunmer is getting messed with, so just want to not start on a character and find out thirty levels in that I should've gone with a different race. Like my character is a dumner sorcerer, and they're changing rzcial and stuff to poison? I don't need poison on my sorcerer.

What? Where on earth did you read that. Dunmer is keeping fire damage

Not according to the masses. If you don't pick the right race, you are going to be garbage. I have been arguing this for a while and cast off as a noob since my first post about it.
Personally, I feel you can compensate for any racial deficiency just fine using CP, enchants, etc.
And OP, it all depends on what they are going to be doing: mag/sta/tank/dps/etc. There is no perfect race, even for the min/maxers of the world, for a class in general terms.
Also, you may decide to change your playstyle, so you might pick a stamina buffed race, then decide you like magika better. I have a magika NB that is a wood elf - sure his mag is not capped, but I rarely run out of stamina, which can come in handy.
If you are really concerned about it, you can just drop cash every DLC once race changes are for sale, and FOTM every quarter.

This. Some Dunmer stamina dragonknights are unhappy that dragonknight stamina morphs are becoming poison damage and thus no longer benefit from the Dunmer fire passive, but the race itself is not changing.
stamina - redguard
magicka - high elf
