I am just leveling Sorc as I usually complete VMA on NB and wanted to try on a sorc since I heard it was easier now I keep hearing Sorcs going to become worst at pve and lots of unhappy people are complaining in my guilds. Am I too late to level Sorc? I mean reducing shields to 6 seconds is going to affect everything so much? Any thoughts?

Right now; A Magicka Sorcerer that stacks Shields is one of the Flavor of the Month (FotM) builds.

After DB, Tamriel will no longer carry that flavor.

Might be time to pick a different ice cream, OP. Or just play and pay no attention to the flavor of the month builds. Find a combo that works really well for you, and that you have fun with, and don't worry about the PvP-try-hards that want to Min/Max every little damn thing.

But, it's up to you.

With shield duration reduced by a rough 75% means you'll have to avoid damage completely and make sure you have more than 17k health to survive. You could spam a shield every 6 seconds but you would be wasting magicka. Shield isn't the only thing they spat on. Power surge, one of the VERY FEW options sorcerers have to self heal will heal a flat value instead of 40% of the damage done.

If this is class balancing to whoever the hell approves the changes, you can bet they don't even play their own creation frequently.

I want to know has anyone tasted it on PTS? has anyone tried doing the VMA on PTS with it? Most people I hear are just guessing and complaining

On a further note to my previous post:

Sorcerer's are getting hammered pretty hard with the DB update. Videos and testimony from people on the PTS shows the Sorcerer's are getting the nerf hammer right in the face... If you like Sorcerers (any type of build really), this is not going to be a good update for you.

The problem is that Sorcs have virtually no build options now to do anything approaching competitive DPS.... so there's next to no room to change rotations. We don't even have a single class spammable dps ability & rely entirely on weapon skill lines... of which we only have access to one (Destro staff).

The major nerfs that are coming are to survivability though.... and no... there's no other viable solution other than a resto staff now. Dark deal is as it always was... a useless skill thats just not viable... the only other heal is clanfear... which again is useless & reduces your DPS even further.

That's the main complaint really... there's nowhere else for sorcs to go.... no build variety what so ever, so the nerf bat hits hard when its on our useful skills that we can actually use.

Man I got to level 15 and now good thing I asked maybe I will wait and see if they change anything I mean I got 2 V16 NBs one stam one mag and I am doing VMA on my magika NB anyway just wanted to see how it was on a sorc but I guess I will have to wait. Most people I know completing VMA always said it was very easy on a sorc I guess it will change

LOL!!! I agree with you 100%. They definitely are. People shouldn't cry about nerfing nor buffing any class or skill at all. Players should be asking for a more stable combat experience and a bug free game.

But no, get killed in cyrodiil by a nightblade, sorc or templar and there they go crying like immature brats saying how unfair everything is. I don't believe in buffing or nerfing only in minor barely noticeable adjustments to try to balance

a magic sorcerer doesnt offer stable pvp gameplay it offers unbalanced and lopsided pvp gameplay because of hardend ward stackable with other shields.

this class has been very problematic for pvp.

there can be no fluid stable game play when 2 classes offer awesome mobility high OP DPS with high survivability while the other 2 are sitting ducks left in the open.

2 classes can have their cake and eat it too while the other class got trashed on since launch by the very same ppl who made the game.

i have no confidence in the development team.

If they were only nerfing shields then id predict that sorcs will still be formidable in any aspect of the game. Sorcs should be magical butchers. My only problem is their shields. You can hit the best of them with 5 of your best wrecking blows and they barely flinch. Sorcs should have devastating damage not impenetrable defences. They are probably going to go overboard with the sorc nerfs in DB which is a shame.

My vet1 dragonknight destroys vet16 chars no problem. However, 5 wrecking blows on a shielded sorc at 15K damage each doesn't even make them flinch. Sorcs are supposed to be powerful spell users not tanks. They get the best of both worlds. Healers and tanks can't do as much damage so it's only fair that the magicka damage dealing powerhouse lose some defence.

5 wrecking blows?

If you are even remotely well geared then you just took out 5 sorc shields.

If a sorc is just re-casting shields then he isn't killing you.

And if you get 5 WB's on without any kind of CC so the sorc can re-cast those 5 shields then I just don't know what to tell you... except use CC.

Oh... and the problem is they don't have devastating damage anymore. & now the survivability has taken a huge hit too.

on the other post I was directed to someone said Funnel Health does not crit any more was it a bug on PTS? I really hope so also heard Refreshing Path is getting buffed?
