My worst PUG experience so far.

I went three hours in Imperial City Prison last night. Not one of my brightest days.

Unless it's your first time, PUG-ing, you really should not expect anything from that group, but perhaps the worse. A lot of times, people get frustrated with PUGs because players expect that everyone are in the same wave-length as them in terms of strategy, mechanic, damge/healing input, etc.

Remember you're running a Pick-up Group, meaning, you barely know each other. If you get lucky enough, they know what they're doing, but in case they don't there is no need to flame or rage quite (not saying you did, but I know lots of players who do). When I had my first vet toon, I've always run with PUGs, back then you weren't even scaled if you use the grouping tool, everyone was scaled to the group lead, more often than not I was doing vet dungeons at at least 2-3 levels higher than me. And there were tons of times I wasn't able to complete a dungeon/pledge. Those were brutal days. So these days when I PUG, I never expect anything from people. I just play for fun. I don't want to flame at someone just because they don't know mechanic/strat or because they don't rez. To be honest, I barely speak with a PUG.

Just saying that if you want people to be at par with you, then you might as well get a group of friends/guildies to help you with a dungeon/quest/anything. The grouping tool will only help you find a group. I don't think it's wise enough to check if the people in the group have the same achievements, same completion, etc.

If you PUG it's really your choice, and as much as you want to complete things with PUGs, it's better that you look at it as how you can be a better survive (if the healer is not doing as good), or how you can match/compensate DPS (when the other DPS isn't doing as much), (errrr... I really have no clue how tanks work.). So yeah, PUG at your own risk. :P

I don't see how that 1,5 hours waiting for group is wasted time unless you're staring the timer whole time :open_mouth:
Personally I keep questing while queued and if I get group while middle of some dungeon, I just won't join.

My worst was yesterday. Got matched with 3 vampire premade geniuses who were getting COOKED by all the mobs. Every time a fire spell had contact with them they would die in one shot.

Dude, hurtin'. Points for sticking it out that long. The moment they weren't gonna speak English with me (can't, or won't?) I would have bailed. Nothing personal, but communication is soooo so crucial, regardless of skill level or character role.

Pugs are hard. I bailed on a group once (a guild group who pulled my name from the roster) because they were more interested in screwing around (also, the skill level wasn't really there either) than actually focusing on the mechanics of the dungeon. Wiped waaaay too many times and it was going nowhere fast.

You gotta do what you gotta do.

I'd say about 80% of my PUGs run great (but I'm usually healer or tank, my worst ones have been when I'm DPS and get bad healers and tanks)... but have had occasional ones that people don't know what they are doing... and some with just bad people. I had one where the guy kept screaming we had to give him lead so he could fix the roles and get his tank bonus, or he was going to report us... and he wasn't playing until he had leader, and sat and wouldn't fight... this was after half way through and him screaming because the "tank" was magicka based and not a "real tank" even though he was doing just fine and we were wiping out everything with little to no challenge... we finally had to kick the guy.

and? I have a Sorc that can be healer and have run as healer on several Vet dungeons with no problems at all. My Temp healer is MUCH easier to play as a healer, but not really much different in effectiveness besides a "Oh &^#*" Ultimate heal.

    Hi guys.
I'm here to tell you about my most recent upsetting experience with the dungeon finder.

After 1 hour and a half I finally got into a dungeon as a dps (lv 14 Stamblade, around 210 CP). It takes just 1 minute for me to understand that at least 2 out of 3 players I got paired with (if not all 3 of them) are a premade as they speak a foreign language in chat. One of them, the leader, is a V9 DD; one is a lv 21 Tank. The other guy is a lv 44 Healer.

When we get to the first boss it takes me a couple minutes to realize how bad the DD is, since he dies a lot (like 4 times during the whole fight). Also, when alive, he doesn't care about the Healer dying, so he doesn't even try to res him. I try my best, but being mine a lv 14 char I don't have many soul gems to res people around.

We make it to the second boss, I'm still alive and well. Here the nightmare begins. We start the fight, the DD dies once again, the Healer too. I try to res the Healer, but he refuses and goes afk. Then, I res the DD. He dies in less than 30 seconds. I and the Tank are struggling a bit, but we manage to take the boss down to 1-2% hp. Then, the Tank dies. I try to spam Killer Blade as fast as I can, but the boss kills me before I can kill it.

We all revive, the Healer is still afk. He doesn't come back for 15 minutes and I try to ask the other 2 guys to kick him and/or to speak English in chat. None of this happens. They finally kick him after 20+ minutes. A replacement arrives and we fight the boss again. Yet again, the DD dies within 2 minutes. The Healer dies too. Because of some weird bug, I can't seem to be able to res the Healer, so I reluctantly revive the DD. He doesn't even bother to try and revive the other guy despite me asking him to, explaining I can't because of a bug. He dies again. We wipe.

I decide to be frugal about soul gems seeing how all is going, so I revive at the wayshrine. The loading screen doesn't load anything. I am forced to close the game and start it again. I log back in within 3 minutes only to find myself kicked from the party. I then try to ask the Healer (who seemed to be the only reasonable guy) to make the V9 DD invite me again. He doesn't reply. I get sent back to Grahtwood.

To sum everything up: I wasted 1h 30m and more to find a party, then I wasted 45 minutes (-ish) inside the dungeon only to be kicked by people whose social skills (and gaming skills too, I must say) are comparable to those of a old, dying sloth.

Care to share your thoughts about this?
Hopefully the wall of text didn't stop you to read this far. If you did, thanks for your time and your patience.

Make friends and run with them...dungeon finder is cancer...

The first time I used the group finder with my V16 healer, I ended up with 3 Level 16 newbs for Banished Cells. It was probably the most fun I've had doing a dungeon. They communicated well in group chat, took advice on the bosses when asked, and we all had a blast. You are going to get some good pugs, and really bad pugs, just accept it as there is nothing that you can really do about it except drop out if it gets too bad.
