Battleground Expectations and Feedback

ZOS has confirmed they are working on Battlegrounds, but they have yet to release specific details or a release timeline.

What are your expectation of Battlegrounds and how excited are you at the concept? What things are you anticipating, and what are your concerns?

More importantly, what would you like to see ZOS do with Battlegrounds and, just as importantly, not do?

Very Optimistic. Battlegrounds will be a great addition to an already great PvP system.

Cautiously Optimistic. The concept of Battlegrounds is exciting, but I'm worried about the execution and implementation.

On The Fence. Battlegrounds could save PVP, or they could be the nail in its coffin. Performance or balance issues concern me.

Somewhat Pessimistic. I will give Battlegrounds a try, but my expectations are low based on past experience with performance, balance, and IC "PvP."

Other: Cyrodiil. I don't like the concept of Battlegrounds, I like PvP in Cyrodiil.

Cmon guys, this is ZOS we're talking about. Even their anniversary cake coding was a lie.

By the time battle grounds come out, I and everyone I play with will be long gone to Overwatch and CU beta. If anyone thinks we'd come back to this game for battle grounds after experiencing the polish and quality of a game like Overwatch (which is still in beta no less), then please let me know, cuz there's some bridges I need to sell.

If I had any faith whatsoever that ZOS would get their act together and fix this game's performance and balance issues, I wouldn't be saying this. But let's be real here: the only reason this game is still afloat is because of The Elder Scrolls name attached to it. Just take a look at the target market these days. PvP? Lol no. Social MMO players? Lol no. Group content such as group zones a la Craglorn has been scrapped and changed to single player adventure zones. Trials have been neglected for so long. Hell, Matt Firor himself said they don't like referring to ESO as an 'MMO'.

The implementation will probably be ok, as long as they enable one to queue both randomly and with premade groups. I hope they make all kinds of maps and minigames so there'll be variety. And Alessia bridge needs to be one location. :p

I probably won't enjoy battlegrounds that much though, just a personal preference. But who knows. Maybe I will. But I rather like playing outnumbered against random enemies in open world.

Battle grounds can be fun, but my concern that PVP players (May the 8 bless their souls o:) ) will turn even more toxic and cried for more nerfs just because they can. I also have concerns how lore and story will fit into battle grounds? What about locations? Places on Nirn? In Oblivion? How do we get there? I hope just by porting... I love to walk everywhere and hate to be forced to use a port to go somewhere...

Premade vs randoms would be absolute carnage especially with these broken class/builds. Group queue and solo queue should have separate matchmakings.

I kind of think it would end up with only a few groups dominating the whole thing in premades, per megaserver...

The problem with random groups is if no one in your group knows what to do, you'll be in trouble too as you can't prevent them from dying forever.

It was the main reason I played Warhammer Online, the scenarios in that game were amazing.

They can do a lot of good if they copy a lot of how those were designed.

Battlegrounds are the worst thing to happen to pvp.
