suppress level option

this is seriously necessary. say we want to complete some quests in an area but long outlevelled the area. we should be able to suppress our own level down to redo it without it being too boring

Well,I tend to cover the entire area, books and quests, before I head to another.Even if I am given the next quest to go there.I make sure I have done all available quests before I leave.
    Then,they arent boring.They're done. :)

i didn't skip on my first char, but when i play other tunes i like to level other ways and then go back and get the quest skill points later. why doesn't really matter though. it shouldn't hurt for them to allow us to suppress our own level. this option was available in another game and it was really successful. it's also cool to use so that you can play with your friends that are lower level than you.

I ask cause doing the quests you still get the same exp so it's it only the quests, ur not missing out and cause u don't need gear it's just doing them. I don't understand why you need to suppress you're level if you intentionally didn't do them at level on
    Purpose.

It's weird how the community has a sort of zeitgeist about what it gets upset about.

A month ago or so, this forum had a dozen threads about people leaving group-finder groups and screwing everyone, with two or three new threads added every day.

Then it was, "Don't nerf the dungeons!" (The very same dungeons, by the way, that people the week before had said they would always drop if Group Finder put them into them because they refuse to do those dungeons with PUGs.) Several new threads per day.

This week it's scaling every dang thing in the game, thus getting rid of any meaningfulness, progression, or growth to levels. Several threads a day about how we should never outlevel anything, because apparently ZOS hasn't torpedoed enough RPG elements yet.

because i might want the skill points for a quest line or didn't feel like doing the whole map at that time or want to play with a friend in a lower level. there are multiple reasons why it would be beneficial that are easy to think of. this is just off the top of my head.

Interesting but it raises alarms in my head . Need more detail . Not shooting it down , just asking for more detail on how . Worries me about vets getting into Black water blade , The champion point system and how that could be accomplished and I'm sure I can think of a few more later . What do you have in mind exactly ?

in the game i previously played you could just go in the options and level yourself down to whatever level you wanted. it levelled your items down to that level too. i don't see why its a problem with champ points since they're account wide you can already run a lvl 3 with 500 champ points. i don't think, however, that it should allow people that have already hit vet to suppress themselves down to get in the lower level pvp campaign. that should still stay locked off.

Could you not simply re-spec and not re-allocate points etc, and then craft / buy lower level gear?

It's not something I've considered / attempted, so maybe it's not as simple as that.

i'm not looking to lose my skill points when lowering my lvl. but also i'm pretty sure that wouldn't work since A. i'm pretty sure your power when lvling isn't from just attributes, and you'll still be way over powered even without any attribute points and B. i wouldn't want to have to spend gold to re-allocate every time i want to play together with a lower lvl friend. it's just not practical.

I'm curious what game this was, because it doesn't sound like any MMO I've ever heard of; sounds more like a single-player game setting to me.

Further, DLCs all scale to character, so you never 'out-level' a DLC... older content is just that, and ZOS has said numerous times they have no intention of going back and updating older content.

Yep they're account wide I was asking how they would scale down when levels get removed but it's not that big a deal . I don't see why not as long as it can't be exploited . That's always my only concern . I know also some role playing peeps have asked for the ability to turn off experience gain all together to keep roles matching areas they want to live in . If it makes the game fun and doesn't doop anyone else's play I'm all for it .

Like a God....with no XP. There was another discussion about this. Characters scaling to whichever zone they enter, kind of like GW2.

I would love scaling down like GW2. Reasoning is:

I would love this so going back to areas I haven't done would be challenging again - but due to their low levels it isn't even fun.

And not only that, but going back for collectables or achievements is impossible since they only drop from xp-earning monsters.

With all the DLC and PVP, it's easy to out level everything before you finish the main story.

    Just as a sidenote:
With DB DLC monsters of older regions seem to be scaled up to 160CP (at least if you go to older territory with a 160 CP char). Its not a total revamp and I surely do not know if this is going live the way its on PTS atm.

    To the OP
I am not sure wether I like or dislike the changes, yet. When I leveled through old territory I had several instances where I would outlevel the content I was playing by more then 5 levels. However, since then there have been alot of changes (XP wise and in difficulty scaling). I suppose with the DB brotherhood up, leveling will be even faster (more xp ... like in really really a *** more xp per kill) and probably mobs will scale with level even when one isn't max leveled yet (haven't tested, yet). Soooo, yes maybe its getting more streamlined, nevertheless, I somehow have a feeling this will effect the way players experience the first 50 levels and I fear the consistentcy of storyline might be lost/mimmiked/disrupted. Maybe I worry too much, but to me the later would be a loss.

see the thing is, i'm not asking for you to be forced to scale down to the zones level. you can stay high level in a low level area if you want. i'm only asking for the option for you to suppress your level if you feel like it. that way people that worry about feeling their character getting stronger or "progression" still can stay strong if they don't fee like scaling down.

    Fair enough to then.

I know that wouldnt' work in DCUO (thank you so very, very much CR relevancy), wasn't sure if it was similar in ESO.
