Dota 2 Update - May 3rd, 2016 (Fixes and Maintenance)
Product Update - Valve
- Fixed some scenarios where the base mana capacity could be lower than intended

Seriously @ZOS, it's not that your patches or fixes are bad, its that it doesn't happen OFTEN, I'm not even only talking about balance issues, im talking about *** that straight up doesn't work, literal bugs in your game. You do weekly maintenance, but what are you fixing? Sure in a game that has very little bugs and technical issues you can get away with just throwing in a maintenance every week and calling it a day, but in this bug ridden piece of trash game with such a small amount of fixes, it's sad that I've come to expect no fixes every week, and you don't disappoint. Your fixes don't have to be BIG ZoS, they just have to be THERE.

Yea... it's kind of interesting that such a large company, or a company with such a large parent company, would handle their product in a way you would expect from a much MUCH smaller company.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

Have to agree Zos is slow at bringing new content to the game but to compare to dota? Seriously?

Dota2 quality is lame. Pathetic in comparison to ESO. Not even in the same category.

Additionally, most of what your showing is weak management of patches to fix issues. Many of which disturb gameplay for its player base. Very typical of a steam based game.

Seriously, never compare an A game to a b rated game.

Alright, who said anything about Dota 2's quality, im not comparing the quality of the game, im comparing the frequency of updates and fixes. And how is that weak management of patches to fix issues? It seems like they are fixing problems as they show up, but how long did it take ZoS to fix Nirnhoned in 1.6? Months, it took months for them to fix an ARMOR TRAIT. How long did it take to fix gap closers doing 100% Immobilize? Like 2 months?

How is fixing things which disturb gameplay for its playerbase a sign of weak management?

You're telling me Dota 2 as a whole is easier to fix than not being able to open your guild bank in ESO on the first try, and that you have to close the menu and open it like 5 times for it to work. I'm talking about the small things too.

so because zos is in a different league than valve we should just settle for crap? yep, perfect logic, bad companies should stay bad companies and not strive to be like better companies at all, right right.

Yes. Small things. These are much smaller than big things. And the big things have higher priority.

Many big things are issues that you might not ever see, but are far more important to fix. More importantly, what you you call "small" may not actually be small. It could very well be that someone started looking at the problem and traced it down to a core component somewhere and if it were fixed, would end up breaking a whole bunch of other crap (or open exploit vectors). It's a large and complex code base. Even small changes can have a huge impact, especially if it has anything to do with interacting with the backend database system(s). I'm sure you wouldn't want them rolling out a "fix" that some weeks later ends up deleting your inventory.

Frequency of patches doesn't mean more things are fixed. Fixing 1 bug per day and putting out a patch is no different than fixing 30 bugs and putting out a patch each month. Just curious have you ever read the patch notes for ESO? it's practically a novel. 4 out of the 5 updates you listed for DOTA had a total of 10 fixes combined.

Patching an MMO daily or multiple times per week even would be a nightmare. Not only for the devs, but for QA and for the users. People already complain every time the server is down for maintenance.

Last, comparing a MOBA to and MMO is just ridiculous. The scope of the two is drastically different.

Dota has a single map of 3 lanes. It doesn't have a massive world of dozens of zones, 1000's of quests, and multiple modes (pvp, pve, group and solo content) etc.

A single small change in code can cause issues elsewhere. The more complex the game, the harder it will be to find any issues and to test every possible outcome.

Then again Valve is a huge company and specialize in making and managing competitive multiplayer games. ZoS neither has the stuff, nor the funding or experience.

While you and Xylphan are correct that some changes require great care so as to not break the game, I HIGHLY doubt the reason they don't fix jack in this game is because they were/are being "careful" for 2 years and running.

... (there was a lot more)

Dota 2 Update - May 6th, 2016 (Fixes and Maintenance)
    Product Update - Valve
    * Fixed being unable to apply Desolator's debuff if the target had the Bloodthorn debuff.
    * Scan now supports color blind mode.
    * Item Workshop - Fixes to address various problems when submitting ability models.

Dota 2 Update - May 5th, 2016 (Fixes and Maintenance)
    Product Update - Valve
    - Fixed some cases where users could crash the dedicated server instance.

Dota 2 Update - May 3rd, 2016 (Fixes and Maintenance)
    Product Update - Valve
    - Fixed some scenarios where the base mana capacity could be lower than intended
    - Added the ability to lock items in your inventory to prevent them from combining with other items

Opinion. And you derailed. Here's the door [ ]

Agreed OP, still waiting for them dev comments on changes too. Wrobel's post in PTS notes is a good step but not the same.

You forgot the door knob. How can he leave without a door knob!

ESO has a steady stream of content starting around this time last year compared to most other games. Not sure how you can compare an MMO's patch rate to a much more simple MOBA.

DOTA 2 is much simpler. Not even close. There are 10 players and they can't do much or go anywhere. You don't have to worry as much about introducing new bugs with updates.

While you and Xylphan are correct that some changes require great care so as to not break the game, I HIGHLY doubt the reason they don't fix jack in this game is because they were/are being "careful" for 2 years and running.

    ALL changes require great care.

And gain, look at the pages and pages of patch notes and please show me where nothing is fixed?

Last night while playing, I ran 3 pledges and a random dungeon on 2 characters. Never once saw a bug.

Zos takes way too long to fix problems. We shouldn't have to wait until the next dlc comes out to fix problems caused by the current dlc. Or for bugs/exploits that have been present for years.

If anything it is more complicated. You have so many different heroes to balance .

To be fair ZOS is making their balancing job even harder with things like the Champion system.

When did this conversation turn from fixing bugs to adding content? Who gives a flying *** about adding content when literal parts of the game are unplayable at times? Add more buggy content or fix the content already in place? Feel like there's a common sense answer here...

No way is it harder to keep a patch cycle going for a MOBA over an MMO. There's way too many variables involved with getting a decent patch out for an online world with individual stats, many pieces of gear, more skills than characters in DOTA 2, etc.
