What are some ways to change up how PvP flows (thoughts? Improvements?)

I’m primarily a PvE player, frankly I stink at PvP, that has done some PvP and tooled around Imperial City some and found it empty. Given that my PvP experience is limited, I was wondering what you guys that do PvP all the time think.

I tried to come up with some ways to change up tactics in IC utilizing the ‘town’ setting versus the open world of Cyrodill. I just wanted to toss out some ideas for fodder of different things that may change up the flow of PVP battles and maybe give some new strategic options. Sorry it’s a long post.

Currently we have Siege weapons that can also be used against players. My thought was to introduce “traps” that would be purchased for Telvar stones (this would help bring people back to IC if the traps are attractive enough). Maybe these abilities can only work in IC or maybe after a time they can be used in Cyrodill. Most of these are designed to break up the flow of battle or cause chaos/confusion that would force players to adjust instead of just spamming the same skills over and over.

Wall of disorientation – Laying down a strip of magicka that actives when enemies cross over it, teleporting them in a random direction by X meters or randomly in the zone. Would be active for x duration. Can be jumped over without triggering if enemies are looking for it. (think the wall of fire traps in dungeons)

Uses: to break up large groups, reset the momentum of the fight, provide additional layer of defense around the flag, cause some creative chaos.

Wall of Ice – Laying down an instant wall of ice (20-30 meters long) that can’t be jumped over. It has to be damaged down or gone around. Does frost damage to those attacking it. Long duration if not damaged down.

Uses: granting a reprieve for the defenders to heal and reset, funneling attackers, blocking off portions of the battlefield, walling off segments of the opposing force

Bubble of blackness – Targetable bubble (20 meters wide) that completely obscures all terrain (also blanks map so they can’t just use map to escape) which prevents skills/abilities from activating. Medium duration, causes major defile, drains stamina and magicka to those caught in the bubble, snares. Can be walked out of (assuming you can get around a wall or building that you can’t see in front of you).
Uses: temporarily neutralize healers/ranged damage dealers, change the flow of battle, if used with ranged AoE, could be devastating.

Kill zone – Laid trap that creates a 20X30 rectangle that does x physical damage per second from spectral archers in nearby buildings or from concealment. Causes major maiming.

Uses: standard DoT, used in conjunction with Caltrops or Bubble of darkness to maximize damage.

Smaller scale battles (1vX, 2vX, Etc)
Grapple- Consumable used item that brings you to the top of a structure x meters high or across distances x meters wide.

Uses: create distance, used to quickly place strategic ranged damage dealers, change plane of battle from a horizontal plane to a horizontal/vertical plane.

Bear trap – stuns enemies, causes major maiming, possibly major defile if it comes in rusty trap version.

Dispersion bomb – grenade targetable type effect that would toss opponents back 10-20 m and apply a stun and debuff. Effected opponents could be determined by either all characters in a radius from detonation, or the closest 5 characters to the “thrown” bomb.

Uses: create space, give defender time to catch their breath or make a break for it.

Pocket Portal Stone – Consumable: Teleports user randomly 30 m away in a random direction. Give it a quick cast time (1-2 sec) and make it interruptible, maybe use the same animation as other out of combat ports but faster

Uses: get away, reset fights

So, that's some of my thoughts, what do you guys see as needed in PvP to make it interesting, more tactical?

I love all of these ideas. If possible. If we did have grapple someday. Is it possible for your enemy's to cut down your grapple? What will happen to overcome this? But I love these ideas
