Can something be done about healing ward.

Ive died so many times depending on my healing ward but seeing it go to someone else nearby me. Is there something you can do to fix this?

    The other morph, Ward Ally, is the one that is guaranteed to shield the caster.

    ... though on Ward Ally you don't get the extra heal when the spell expires ... which makes the morph choice interesting and meaningful.

    The only way I can imagine Healing Ward could be "fixed" would be by making it work only on group members, this way at least you don't risk "wasting" it on random people in PvP. But if you start thinking that way, you go down a dangerous path where all heals could be designed to work only on group members. If that were the case, joining random battles in Cyrodiil (especially as a healer) would become a lot more difficult. I really don't think Healing Ward needs to be fixed. Besides, if you want to make sure to ward yourself, when the new DLC goes live you'll have plenty of options (like Annulment and Bone Shield).

    This really isn't a problem. It's a support ability, a powerful one. It should stay as such.

    The only thing that's wrong with it is how strong it gets when cast at low health. It's great for PvE healing but stupendously OP in PvP.

    Besides, if you are about to die and others around you are also about to die, the healing wards are possibly a little too late. I use it all the time, not just for my protection for allies too. I can honestly say this has never been an issue for me. I really like the range and 'smart warding' that goes with the ability.

    The shields are changing with the DB DLC. The light armor skill dampen magicka will now shield against physical and magicka damage. And its almost as good as the sorcs hardened ward.
    But, for healing ward to be most effective, it needs to be cast when you are at low health then stack another shield on top till the heal procs.

    I gotta say your points are clear and quite illuminating.

    But still, in spite of your cogent argument, i stand by my podition that it would be nice to have a setting for SOLO play that basically turned the "smart healing" off when you just wanted to solo play. Having my heals, more than just HW btw, hijacked by some other player who happens to be too close and too damaged bc he did not sidestep the acid trap or is standing in stupid is pretty bad imo.

    Out of fairness and other considerations, if I set to no share i should get the ssme, not buffed by other folks casting, pc that is.

    Sure, turn it off when grouping and let things go as they are, but for solo, allow the option.

    Doesnt seem so insanely idiotic to me as much as a playstyle preference.

    But hey, people disagree and discuss different ideas all the time and its good to be able to do so without tedius disparaging comments.

    I feel that the option to turn of sharing of skills and buffs is a really slippery slope. God forbid ZOS would take this into account. When I happen upon a fellow red getting wrecking blowed 7 foot into the air my first reaction is to hit my ward and perhaps drop an AOE heal on him. You see, it's for the betterment of the overall outcome of that conflict. With a system like this, should the player be flagged as 'solo' to save me wasting my spells? This could really hurt the support playstyle which I hugely enjoy.

    You want to put another shield then healing ward.

    They gtake damage in the order you apply. Healing Ward last, more chances of a bigger heal at the end.

    I believe this was supposed to be shifted to group only at some point.
    In which case...solo players would only heal themselves.
    Groups would only heal group members.
    Anything that can be exploited will be exploited

    Add a button, that, when pressed in combination with an ability, will force the ability to be cast on you.
    Add another button that, when pressed in combination with an ability, will force the ability to be cast on the target in your reticle.

    Both based on abilities when applicable (e.g you can't use healing ward on an enemy target or on nothing, it then goes back to standard "smart" healing mechanics).

    Add a few options, such as "default targeting" and be done with it.

    This thread just makes me wonder. If healing ward takes into consideration flat values or percentage when determining the lowest HP around...

    To OP. A big part of healing is getting to know ones heals and how they behave. After that point it becomes easier choosing which heal to use.

    I'm talking strictly using this skill in pvp. I also use this skill as a healer in pve and would hate a change that would ruin it. It's just really sucks when it's one of ur main survival tools and when ur in a bind it goes to someone else.

    Surely the same thing applies. You know some people will wait at world bosses or delve bosses for help. I can only imagine the level frustration that would be caused when the only people coming by are solo players that can't recieve heals or buffs causing them both to wipe over and over. It for this reason that I could never see ZOS every implementing something like that.
