....Turn off the setting, maybe?
call it "Self Control" and if your character has it, done. if not, he's responsible either way

Someone doesn't understand the definition of "accidental".
I think you should not only have to pay off the person you attacked, you should also get retain your wanted level and bounty.

Sadly, I cannot take credit for this, not even for being the first to post it on the forums - it came up already a while back. But... it fits... it fits sooo well...Hey there, lovely comic ;D
Agreed with all of those. The cases i wish this option the most are the incidents when there are targettable NPC's and quest enemies fighting, too often i accidentally hit the friend in these places. We proceed finishing the enemy off in team, then he/she starts killing me and it just feels so wrong.
But as i also play a thief character, when someone sees me taking their stuff to safer place (They forgot that Aldmeri wartoy to that table and somebody could have stolen it!) and they see me doing this and mistake me as a thief and they attack me, i wish i could just pay something to them or that i could let tjhem call that guard and pay off the bounty instead of being killed or kill the poor man/woman. Cant escape houses
I also wish that when someone sees me trespsassing and they warn me that they will call a guard, that they wouiold really call that5 guard and guard would really appear. I also wish those poor citizens could sleep and leave their homes to some scripted daily routine. I love planning heists based on peoples timetable i8nstead of just everyone stays indoors the whole time (Or outdoors).
Last time I accidentally attacked my neighbour with a sword, they did not want to accept my apology. I was like "sorry it was a mistake dude" and they were like "your a flipping psycho, I'm calling the police". They were very unreasonable.

Well in real life you generally aren't carrying around a sword and have a finger slip, hit a button, and stab someone. Sooo... not a good analogy.
That is actually the reasonable response. And the police will then give you the choice to drop the sword, surrender and accept your punishment, or shoot you as deranged maniac.Last time I accidentally attacked my neighbour with a sword, they did not want to accept my apology. The bank teller decided to attack me and as my char had the no combat with NPCs setting switched on there was nothing I could do to defend myself. I couldn't even walk out the door, while the teller's pathetic fisticuffs had no impact on my char.
I ended up having to go into settings, while still being punched in the face, change the no combat setting and swat the teller.
A simple "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to steal your apple, here's 50 gold" button would have saved a lot of time.
