I have been wanting to record some of my own ESO footage and wanted to try using Shadowplay but I don't think ESO is supported. Can anyone help me here?

Mine works fine, but not with the 64bit client. On some machines you CAN do this with the 64 bit client, on others it won't work. With laptops the odds are it won't. So start with the 32 bit client. Then if that works go on to try the 64 bit.
    1. Before you start the game you need to start the NVIDIA GeForce Experience. You can do that from a menu, the system tray, or by finding the program with a search in the start screen (is anyone still using the WIn 8 start screen?).
    2. Once that is started, make sure your driver is up to date. Next click the Preferences tab. On the left from a small menu, choose ShadowPlay. This will allow you to set up your preferences. They are:
      • Camera -- this is your web cam, a pic of you in the corner of the screen. I leave this OFF but you may choose to turn it on and choose which corner to use for the webcam vid.
      • Status Indicator - A little green dot in the corner of your screen that tells you when you are recording. I put mine on the lower right.
      • FPS counter -- if for some reason you need an independent FPS counter, turn this on. Otherwise, leave it off. There is an FPS counter build into ESO.
    3. Next choose your microphone to be always on or push-to-talk. I don't speak in my videos so I choose push to talk.
    4. Next look at the Keyboard Shortcuts. Note that most key combos will NOT work in ESO because the Alt , Ctrl, and shift keys already have other functions. I set "Toggle manual recording" to F9 and "Activate Push-to_Talk" to F8. I ignored all the other ones. YMMV. Once that configuration is done, you should not have to do it again unless you need to change some option.
    5. Next click the ShadowPlay button on the upper right. A small popup will appear with a few more settings for ShadowPlay. I choose In-Game audio, medium quality, and manual mode. In manual mode you will turn recording on and off by pressing the F9 key (or other key you set up above).
    6. Finally, make sure the switch on the left it ON with a green light showing.

DON'T CLOSE THE GEFORCE EXPREIENCE WINDOW OR SHADOWPLAY POPUP. Just start your game. Once you have chosen a character, they have come up and are standing there ready to play, you can press F9 to start recording and F9 again to stop.

Eso is supported, I am running it for twitch right now. Make sure it is up to date and your card supports it then turn it on in the settings of GeForce experience. Make sure to read the commands on how to record it in the settings for GeForce experience.

I haven't tried but I know players who use shadowplay for eso so I think it works. You open it and go to the settings and select the highest bandwidth destination you can, and by that I mean HDD/SSD write speeds should be higher than 150-200Mb/s (roughly). SSDs should give you somewhere in the 300Mb/s range. Shadowplay might work in a different way but with fraps and dxtory you lost frames and got bad footage if you tried to record to a HDD with say 130Mb/s write speed. I guess it would depend on the compression used and size of files being written though.

Once you have a destination set up you select which hot keys and modes you want, leave it open, start the game and use said hotkeys.

If you set ESO display as "Windowed (Full Screen)" or "Windowed", you need to allow shadowplay for desktop capture which is located in GF Xperience -> Preferences -> ShadowPlay.

What I wrote is not meant to be the ultimate guide. Once you get that basic setup working, then tweak all you want to find the right balance of picture quality vs file size, audio source, etc.
