Razum-dar - A theory.

Soooooo. Razum-dar. We all love him but I have a theory. The last quest with Raz leaves two options: You destroy the crown and he dies or you don't and he lives (leaving one irate pussum).
Up to this point, with a terminal destination fixed, he is both alive and dead. Therefore I declare that Razum-dar is in fact, Schrödinger's cat.
Developers? Is this a hidden joke/reference?

During my first play through I let him die, but then he was alive later in another quest.

So I guess he just used one of his 9 lives and is fine.

I have seen it mentioned somewhere that if you approach and talk to him in Dune, he explains that whilst it was difficult, he did actually escape death, and talks about about lots of jumping.

It's Razum-dar, he's the most badass cat there is. No way in hell would he let himself be tricked and killed by a simple ritual. He'd definitely have found a way out if you decide to let him die. Or even if he did die, he'd probably trick a Daedra in the underworld and win his life back. This cat always has a trick up his sleeves. No prison can hold him, least of all the prison of the afterlife.

Sorry. He is the at least the second most bad ass cat there is.

This might be a spoiler for many and because I want to avoid more butthurt people hating on me I'll just put it in the spoiler tab.
Razum-dar will be present during a delve quest in Gold Coast (DB). You could see it on the last ESO Live, where the dev was going through a solo dungeon and Raz was there, with a quest marker a top of his head.
Also, to the OP. You are not correct about Raz.
Raz will be alive no matter what you choose to do. Now, I can't recall what quest it was from, but I know you get to talk to him again and ask him how did he survive and he tells you he just managed to get out before it collapsed.

He escapes even if you destroy the crown.

Later, in the temple of Two Moons I believe, you can talk to him and he will explain that he escaped but couldn't save any of the other Eyes that were with him.

There isn't a quest mark pointing to him though, so you have to look around the place, and if you miss him this time he won't explain it again the next time you see him. IMO, they should add a quest objective ("Optional: Talk to Razum-Dar"), because the number of people who think this is a continuity mistake is pretty high.

The possibility to get Raz killed never existed in this game.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

No problem. By the way, I always save him, but it is because I know there wasn't in the future any instance where such an object was used, so the crown either doesn't have that power or someone finds a way to destroy it later. And, knowing that, I wouldn't let a bunch of Queen's Eyes die for nothing.

Yeah, I completely missed that part and he never mentioned anything about escaping at the end of the questline. I was hoping to find him and get that dialogue, too. :(

Another example of "choice" in ESO quests. You choose to kill the character, oh he isn't really dead he'll show up later!

Ugh... Where's the consequences of my choices? The only choice that seems to matter is at the end of the main quest, and that only matters as far as which piece of loot you get from the quest.

Ach. Khajitt will explain the mystery of Razum Dar - which is no mystery at all.

Razum Dar he is flattened when the roof falls in - squish squash - goodbye kitty.

Then the Razum Dar he just wakes up with a sore head at the nearest wayshrine. Just like the rest of us yes?

Razum Dar can no more be killed than this one can. Do not read that as an invitation to try and bump off Santie - oh no!

Khajiit thinks she is not the only one missing her soul. Indeed there seem to be many more of us running about Tamriel whose soul has been misplaced than those who still possess one.

If the soul of khajiit can be stolen then the soul of Razum Dar could also be.
