Casual Player Trying To Understand The Upcoming Changes

Hi guys,
Trying to wrap my head around the changes to VR that's coming. If I understand them correctly, my non vet alt guy can wear the VR gear? I also recently bought some shield breaker gear from the Tel Var store. It's Vr 16 stuff and will my non vet guy be able to wear that?

Your non vet will NOT be able to wear VR gear. If you have a character who is already VR, your alts will be the same level ONLY upon reaching lvl 50. If you have no character at VR currently, none of your characters will be able to equip VR gear.

Champion Ranks will replace Veteran Ranks. So once you hit 50 your champion rank will determine what equipment you can use.

If you have 160 Champion Points you will be able to equip you vr16 shield breaker pieces once you hit 50.

So am I wasting my time getting my vr7 sorc to vr16 before may 31?
Would I be better off just leveling others to 50?

Pretty much. I've given up grinding my templar, DK and magblade to V16 and just grinding toons to vet1 and be instamax level CP 720 by my estimate when it drops.

If you already have at least one v16 character, or you have at least 160cp, then yes leveling more vets up to v16 can be pretty useless ATM.

If you don't have a v16 then it can be worthwhile to get one before DB because it means you will get the maximum bonus CP when VR goes away (you will get 2.5cp per vet rank on your highest level character).

It's also important to note that, if you will end up at or above 160cp when DB lands, running any alts through the silver zones will give really poor mob XP due to how XP will scale off your champion rank. I am currently trying to get my low-VR alts through silver because of this.

It's not a waste of time to keep levelling vets IMO. You'll still get CP and more importantly, skill points from the process.

So basically they are just replacing VR with another piece of crap grind right?

I would not say they are so much "replacing it" as removing a superflous one. We already gained CP points once we hit Veteran Ranks so now instead of grinding them both (even though they grinded simultaneously) we only have 1 "grind" and the nice part of it is that it removes the Veteran Rank leveling process from all of your other characters.

Now oonce you hit level 50 you begin accruing Champion points and those are shared across your account. Thus if you already have a character with 160 champion points every single time you level a character on that account to level 50 they are essentially "capped" and can begin being geared for end game content until they raise the champion point "standard" probably next DLC.

So are they removing one grind for another? In essence you can say that, however this is more of an account-wide grind then a per character grind which makes for muuuuuuuuuuch smoother leveling of other characters beyond just one.

No. Grinding to 50 is extremely easy. I don't have the data but vet grinding felt like trice the time I need to 50. CP is bound to the account, not characters.

In short: your first character will still be a chore, but any additional alts will get to end game very quickly.

Ok thats nice, but this means that going through caldwels slver and gold is pointless and thats not the end, because now effective lvling skills up will be possible only in certain areas which are going to be overpopulated for sure because of CP farmers.

I am doing my best, but I am not a native speaker, sorry.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game." - @AlexanderDeLarge

I'm afraid you won't be CP 720 in any way possible, gear and zones max level will be CP 160 and cap for CP remains 501.
