Ridiculous NPC prices need an update

Is it possible that ZOS will update those ridiculous enormous prices, for which npc vendors are trying to push us their items, also eseless armors and weapons?
I mean a single piece of carrot or potato isn't worth 150g and white rubbish weapon without any trait nor enchantment can't be worth over 1k gold.

I know vendors are there to build immersion. But their prices actually kill the immersion, because how can I imagine that someone buys products in these prices. That would be just a total waste of money. I believe these vendors are just buyers for our items and armor repairers, but then their offer is useless.

I can imagine that someone needs quickly some food ingredients for writs, but if this one is forced to buy a carrot for 150g I say this price is a simple scam and this price has nothing to do with actual value if the items on market.

If these prices would be 10x lower, even then it's 3x more than average price in MM.

And even the food, I can sort of understand, there is a war going on... scarcity is a thing. But a calcinium dagger for 1,200?

Scarcity isn't really there, if you can find so much food in almost all barrels, crates and containers in Tamriel ;) .

You can buy a stack of ingots and craft 28 daggers yourself... Assuming you want that many daggers, I don't know what you would plan to do with that many daggers. Hmm, throw them at the merchant?

Oh definitely, that breaks immersion too... But no matter how overflowing the barrel is, you only get one or two apples

And if not changing the prices, please don't have a merchant clip into boxes.

Yeah, the price of stuff in this game is ridiculus, esp. when you put it next to the income you get from finishing quests, it takes ages to be able to afford anything, let alone someting "good".

The prices are there to encourage in-game player to player trading. The vendors only stock those things for a player to resort to as their very last option. If they priced things any lower, it would affect the player economy.

It works in reverse for other things, like materials for instance. They don't want so many materials floating in the economy than the price of a stack is less than 800 gold or so. Except for v15+, any excess ingots/cloth/leather I have get vended for 800 gold/stack instead of trying to sell it to players when they don't fetch much more.

Can you please explain how lowering prices in vendors eg. 2x would affect player economy? Do you expect players will start buying in bulk apples for 75g at vendors, instead of guild stores?
I am interested to see some statistics about how many players used so far that option for 150g :).

And btw player economy is affected in many ways, but who cares? For example fishy sticks recipe can be bought from npc vendor for abour 250g, but it was sold according to my MM for about 600-900g in guild stores, not a single time ;).

The problem there is a lot of things at a vendor, basics let's call them, aren't even available in trader guilds so far as I can see, so how would lowering the price in NPC traders hurt the "player economy"? Besides, from what I've seen in the player market, the prices are just as ridiculous as NPCs... the whole thing needs an overhaul to make the prices more reasonable for the average player, imo.

If the alliance territory was DC, it does not make me wonder, that fishy sticks recipe did not sell. I stumble over that recipe so often, that I do not even bother trying to sell it, because when I try to give it away for free using zone chat, no one bothers to pick it up. In another alliance that might be different, but certain crafting recipes are dependent on the alliance territory that common, that it will most likely not sell. Or take roasted pig, that recipe is given for free by the NPC, who offers the crafting certification and it can be found as loot as well. Who wants to buy something like this or even just pick it up for free?

Edit: just to add it, I have from time to time bought a single item from the grocery vendor, just by convenience reasons. Pretty much the same goes for overpriced items in a guild store. Sometimes I buy it anyways, just because I want to save time.

Questing earns a pretty good amount of gold. Combine that with selling weps and armors you don't need for decon and you're set. Only thing I can see of use on npc traders are cheap items like provisioning ingredients, basic style materials, and...I'm not sure what else. Anything "good" is crafted, bought from a guild trader, or dropped in a dungeon. Add refined/farmed/looted to that as well.

It seems npc merchants know that they sell junk for high prices ;).
Maybe it's time to increase their available offer and decrease prices :).

I don't know why anyone would buy anything from an NPC vendor. I may have on my first character to do a writ, but I can't remember. But, I also loot everything in sight so I have lots of everything now. (Thanks again ZoS for the crafting bag) Even on a new character, the armor and weapons that get dropped are way better than the vendor's.

So many backs to stab, so little time...

This one can't remember the last time goods were bought from a vendor, maybe 2 years ago. Now their services are used to dump stuff off that won't sell in guild stores and for repairs. Although lowering npc vendor prices at this point probably wouldn't change ones buying habits either.

I see NPCs prices as a gentle suggestion to get off my butt and go do some farming.

I bought a couple of armor pieces real early on from an NPC Vendor, and that finally convinced me to learn how to craft.

I do think the Food Prices are a bit high, as the ingredients sell in the 5 gold per item range, give or take, on the PC through the Kiosks. Although, I have not checked prices in a while as I never sell any ingredients anymore due to Crafting Bags. I think I am in the 4 figures on every provisioning and alchemy ingredient now, other than mushrooms which I never really collected.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

It's an unfortunate carryover from the game's early state, where everything was much more difficult, and loot drops from enemies were much worse

it's pretty incredible it hasn't been updated yet
