What's going to happen to VET gear?

cmackay2010rwb17_ESO
Probably been asked a number of times but I would like a definitive answer for my own sake. With the announcement of the removal of veteran ranks, how is our gear going to be affected? Someone mentioned it's going to scale on your Champion Point level? If so does that mean old V1-14 sets are going to auto scale making them more viable again? And as your Champion Level raises does that mean your current gear is also going to keep auto scaling as well?

A definitive answer from ZOS has been given. A v1 set will be the equivalent of 10CPs, v6 = 60CPs and so on up to 160CPs which is the gear/enemy level cap. No gear will be over 160CPs.

A v1 set will still not be viable for a 160CP player.

Thanks for that, was mainly asking as I'm finding it hard to break away from some v14 set gear and was hoping it would get a auto scale so I don't feel so derpy wearing it.

So if you have a v16 character and level up an alt to v1 will the v1 alt be able to use cp160 armor? The v16 player has 501cp btw.

@psygnosi that's correct. All alts will essentially skip v1-15 so if you have armour that you've been saving for alts at those level you may as well sell or decon them

I'm levelling a few alts right now, so I should stop them all at v1 and then when the expansion drops, boom they are all wearing cp160 gear (I'm cp 250) and fighting like champs?

Yeah that's what I'm planning on doing but I'm also gathering Skyshards and Lorebooks whilst getting Fighter's Guild up.

Another thing to take in to account:
If the proposed XP scaling actually comes with DB, essentially any "vet" character with over 210CPs will gain XP (and therefore CPs) at 30% of what a V16 is gaining now due to the 50CP (= 5 actual levels) gap. So the time it takes you to gain 3CPs now, when DB comes you'll have earned 0.9CP.

I'm hoping this is just an oversight by ZOS but I doubt it.

Oh ouch, ok, level all alts to V1 and gain as many CP levels as possible... May have to quit my job!

Well, if you're bothered about extra CPs then the best use of time would be to grind CP now and then either level alts in and around that to save you getting burned out or wait for DB anyway as they suffer no XP loss (providing you can level every skill line up before 50)

It's actually a little funny, cause my highest level character is at Vet13. I haven't even level capped my first character yet, but when this change goes through, I'll suddenly be level capped cause I have 260 points.

Christ! Have you just been levelling alts up from v1-12 or something!?
