How to sell stuff?

So I joined 2 trade guilds. I still can't sell anything on the trade brokers... My bank is full. My bags are full. The ridiculous and tedious inventory management is quickly reminding me why I lasted 1 month at release.

Do people really find it fun spending this much of their coveted play time dealing with inventory shortfalls? With a million crafting items, even if you're only pursuing 2 crafting branches, it makes managing inventory a tedious bore. I'm constantly having to pause and destroy stuff in my packs to complete a quest. Stuff that I badly need to sell for money.

Now I'm trying to hang on to the blue items I find to try and make some money and I can't even figure out how to sell stuff. The trade broker's I've found also don't seem to have a lot of stuff for sell either.

I know space alleviation is coming in the next expac, for crafting items that is (to what extent I don't know yet) - that single line item in the feature list is the sole reason I decided to come back and give this game another try but it's a long month before that get's here.

So is the in-game economy just dead? Why are their no items for sale and why can't I seem to be able to post items for sale?

Check what rank you are in the guild and then check the ranks to see what that allows you to do. Some trade guilds require a weekly donation to help with the bids for guild traders it could be you need to make a donation to get promoted to the rank to allow you to list items for sale.

Either speak to or message the guild leader and find out

Things like low level weapons you're better off selling to the npc's or using them for research/deconstruction to improve your crafting

I'm not sure what you mean by "you can't sell anything on the trade brokers".

Go to the banker, go to the guild choices, pick the store. Click on the coins icon on the top right. List your stuff for sale.

You have access to your guild store to sell to your guild. If your guild bids on and wins a trader, your stuff can be bought by anyone who shops at the trader.

You can't sell stuff with random traders. They have to belong to your guild.

If you have too much stuff to sell and all of your slots are full in your two guilds, I recommend two things to start with. First, join another guild. You can have up to five. Second, find a guild with a good trader location - if your current guilds are in smaller locations, or in the wild or outlaw's refuges, you are much less likely to sell anything. It helps a great deal if you can get at least one guild with a trader in a hub city (Wayrest, Mournhold and Rawl'kha are the best generally).

That said, I find it always better to deconstruct blue gear for the possible refine materials (provided you have some points in extraction) than to sell it. Armor in general does not sell well unless it is part of a popular set or has a difficult to find trait for research.

As far as not being able to find anything for sale, I'm not sure what the trouble is there. The four guilds I belong to are always well-stocked. If you are on PC, I recommend getting the addon AwesomeGuildStore because it makes searching MUCH easier.

Can't help with inventory advice though - I'm a crafter in all areas and I suffer from lack of space as well, even though I sell what I have multiple stacks of! I'm hoping they will give us more bank upgrades soon.

It sounds like you are doing something wrong if you aren't even seeing items for sale. Have you asked your guilds to help you? It is often a lot easier for someone to help you with these kinds of things in game than in the forums since there is a delay in response. When i initially joined a trade guild I had a similar problem unfortunately it has been so long that I don't remember what I did to fix it. But it seems like it was because I didn't notice the selection icons at the top of the guild store window. Go to the banker and open the guild store. At the top are icons. One is for browsing the store (magnifying glass) and one is for selling/listing items (coins).

If this isn't the problem then ask your guilds for help. It is probably something simple that you missing.

Well I finally figured out you either have to use the bank guild store option or go to the actual individual npc your trade guild is associated with. Why on earth they don't make this part of the tutorial learning process is beyond me (even more importantly, why on earth is it even designed like this). I know people who left the game after barely a month for this same reason I was frustrated with.

To me, having a full-on economy, un-inhibited market is paramount to any big-box MMO and this area is hugely lacking in this game. Farming mats/items and selling them is one of the main things I enjoy about persistence-world games like MMO's. Segregating your market into 500-person chunks is probably the single most dumb design I've seen in any MMO to date. Seems more like a way to save database storage vs. having any kind of worthwhile in game effect.
