Thoughts on Stamplar Tanks?

Are they any good, or are Magicka Morphs always going to be the way to go?

How much will the Stamina changes in DB affect Stam tanks? do they have enough of an effect to make Stamina tanks desirable to play?

reason I am asking is because in DB, I am likely going to convert my Templar into a Tank, and I really wanna be able to use the 1H/Shield skills other than just Puncture, but the only tank type I've ever played has been Magicka.

I actually prefer stamplar for tanking by a wide margin. Caltrops paired with Ritual of Retribution is going to be pretty sexy for tanking after DB patch. All of the old stamplar tanking tools are valuable though...

Sun Shield is a pretty good magicka dump. Empowering Sweep ult is cheap and effective. Repentance is amazing. Stamjabs works well on trash packs. Shuffle is a must.

Some people say they struggle with resources on a Stamplar tank but if you learn to heavy attack weave you will be perfectly fine.

It's hard to maintain stamina without corpses : /sigh* repentance

Templar tanks are solid, stamina or magika. They are the only class with a class skill giving them 8% damage reduction and provide some group utility, cleans, can gear to offer some heals.

Draw backs is resource management requires dead corpses which is not super common in boss fights where resource management comes into play and probably slightly less utility than a DK. A Templar tank can tank anything, but knowing then one can do heavy attacks is vital for sustain of stamina. One should not rely on shards alone.

My thoughts: we will kick each and every single temp tank we come across and tank the damn dungeon ourselves. Nothing worse than running 2-3 stam dps in a dungeon and the tank doing nothing but spamming repentence with miserably low overall stats. Dk/sorc tanks are nice though. Love crowd control abilities.

I have repentance on main taunt bar for stam regen and in case of stam emergency I activate it.
