Are we a Generation of spoiled Gamers?

I opened the game and I found that it is offline for some kind of maintenance, so I opened the forums to check the reason which I found pretty necessary. But then I was in shock when I saw the number of complain threats! they took down the server for couple hours and we started attacking the forums non-stop. Seriously what's wrong with this world?

Since the release of this game, complains are endless! "this is BS, i don't want pay to play!" .. they removed payment requirement. "it has many bugs!" they fix most of the bugs, if not all. (and yes all games have bugs and will keep have bugs in every new content) "this class doesn't hit as hard as it should" they buffed it. "this class is too OP" they nerfed it. and we kept asking and complaining about this and that and they kept giving us what we wanted.. but no we must keep pushing our spoiled minds through the good things and we must squeeze any drop of bad content in game and cry about it. THIS GAME IS GREAT and Zenimax create it. so lets take a moment and thank them for all the hard work please.

so.. here is an example of what we really should open a discussion in forums and talk about, couple days ago I was in alik'r desert collecting skyshards and I noticed this a dog (which I guess many others have noticed too) standing next to a tombstone just staring, the view moved me and made me stay still and watch him for while. then I tried to find and know something about this dog but I couldn't so I moved on.

Screenshot_20160426_135807.jpg

I went north and I crossed over an island with a villa connected to the shore with collapsed bridge. I entered the villa and I was notified that I am trespassing but there was no one inside and I couldn't find anything to steal. so I left the villa and I found out that I can use the boat just outside the gate and then I found myself next to that same dog. and now I am more involved in this dog's story. any ideas or thoughts about the dog or the villa?

Pretty much. People have become so spoiled and, dare I say, entitled these days. I've learned to just shut them out and when it comes to games, take what I'm given.

Also about the dog, I came across him(or her) once before as well and I think it may or may not be a part of a side quest, I can't remember. Or it might just be a random location to be stumbled upon that's sad. Dog missing it's companion.

I have no idea about that island though, I don't remember it.

    Looking at these forums? Yes.

"People are exploiting crafting writs! It's ruining the economy! Fix it ZOS!"

"We are taking the servers down to fix the exploit"

"OMG ZOS!!! You're the worst! How dare you do this!!!!"

Seriously. These forums are just awful at times.

Welcome to Forums. Most people are here to discuss things. Some are here to complain. It just the comlaints tend to drown out the discussions.

As for the Villa, do the Thieves Guild DLC and you will find out more about it.

Oh, the Dog Standing Vigil over his masters grave, that is just part of the story of the world.

However, in this case it is also a mirror reflecting a quest in that same zone where you help a dog find his master.

There were more people defending the maintenance than complaining about it, from what I saw.

But I'll point out that complaint threads are written by people who have genuine affection for the game and want it to improve. If they really hated the game, they would just leave.

ZOS has made some brilliant decisions and some boneheaded ones. The brilliant ones are the only reason we even care about the boneheaded ones enough to make forum posts.

Sorry I have to disagree yes you pay for a service but you also agree to the terms and conditions, there is no guarantee of a 100% uptime.

At the end of the day, they should be angry with those that abused an exploit which was basically stealing from every honest person playing the game and before anyone says "it's Zos' fault the exploit existed" that is no excuse, just the same as it's no excuse to steal, *** or murder and then blame the person because they didn't have adequate security or the girl/guy because they smiled at you or the gun manufacturer because they made the weapon.

People spitting the dummy over 2 hours downtime is not so much spoilt as just plain selfish, there are more important things going on in the world to get angry at, video games are not one of those things.

Thanks for the explanation but I still can't understand the part where I took the boat and transferred next to the dog.. do I find out when I do the thieve's guild dlc? and btw for some reason I can't open "spoiler" in your comment.

Yeah I know there's no guarantee of 100% uptime, I think people are just upset that it's happening at a critical point of Prime Time, on one of the busiest nights of the week.

Also, apparently the nusty cheatmunsters are getting their comeuppance, and it seems very clear that peple are mad at them as well, but that's kind of a non-issue since they're getting the mighty hand of the law tracing a fingernail down their spine in the near future.

The boat is how you get to and back to the Villa for the Quest I am refering to. Not sure why it put you in the middle of the zone. In my case the Villa was in AD, I have not done the TG on DC character (Heavy Armor Tanks, he squeaks when he walks) I also wonder if you could have taken the boat to the Villa....

I wonder if it does that during the quest too, or just because the quest is not active so it does not know where to put you. Although you would think it was just really a Warp Portal

Here is what I had in the spoiler, it's not too much of a spoiler other than telling you the quest exists

However, in this case it is also a mirror reflecting a quest in that same zone where you help a dog find his master.

Note, I don't know if it is the same dog or not, but I won't say anymore so as not to spoil the quest when you get it. It is really quite a sweet quest.

    Yes

I challenged my lil' brother (16) to play several of my older games (SNES, Sega Master System 2, etc...), those that are... unforgivable like Sonic the Hedgehog, Marble Madness, Altered Beast,...

It was funny to watch, but for the sake of those consoles I had to stop him from raging eventually.

"Guess a challenging game without DLC, Patches, Achievements,... isn't fun, eh?", I asked him before he went back to the PS4

we have the right to complain if we don't get our 100+ hours of gameplay from 60$ worth of game...
we have the right to complain if the game doesn't save us from more expenses of spending time hanging out and paying 20$ for a hand-burger with cola and 5$ transportation expenses (if not more).
we have right to complain if we didn't agree to all conditions and agreements of the game before we start playing.

yes we had high expectations when the game first came out and it failed to deliver, but sadly my friend we don't have the right to complain about the current status of ESO.

    Yes.

Really the only issue I have with this game is the people. Probably like you said generation of today's gamers don't care about anybody, but themselves. The elitism gets real, nobody in guilds wants to help their own guild mates because they're slow or not good enough according to them.

I'm probably not the same generation as a lot of you tbh... :D

But yes I see a lot of whining about really quite inconsequential stuff (not talking about balance issues, that sort of thing needs to be discussed so that issues are highlighted for the devs).

There is also another side to this though - companies that develop and publish games do have a habit of treating their paying customers as if they are stroppy children who need to be told off, rather than adopt a stance similar to companies in different genres/fields of retail and customer service who treat their customers as though they are valued rather than scorned.

So I think it is six of one, and half a dozen of the other.

Unless there is catastrophy, every generation is more spoiled than the previous. OP's post proves he/she is spoiled as well. How can you label an entire generation based on a few posts in a video game forum? That very act right there is spoiled behavior.

Not trying to offend anyone. Just pointing out the futility of the point.

The content quality of game forums has really gotten bad. Posts are no longer about the game or gameplay, but are initiated just for the sake of drama. Game forums used to be a place you could go to get gaming advice, comparisons, testing data and general help. But nowadays forum posts are like reality shows...trashy content that is desiged to appeal to the lowest common denominator for the sake of getting the most views.

I don't think so because if you pay for something you should be able to use it. Ok I know they need to preform maintenance and that's fine I understand that but I think the main problem(not just with this game but with games in general nowadays is that you need to be online to access the content so if you've a poor Internet connection or if there is maintenance it effectively renders the game useless whereas if you were playing skyrim or oblivion or the games of old you could immerse yourself in those wonderful worlds for hours at a time. I understand that this is a mmorpg and that you need to be online to play it.

While I agree its not smart to say it.

You'll no doubt get the obligatory defenders who'll say "Is it wrong that we want more, or is it wrong that you want less?" and things like that.

Ya' know the people who try to justify being spoiled.
