Can no longer un-summon Familliar since thieves guild update. Xbox One

Anyone else havinh trouble un-summoning familliar with your mage?
m on XBox One and since the thieves guild patch I can no longer unsummon my flying critter by hiting the summon button again.

this has caused a number of problems - especially in town with NPC's.. and had led to unintended muder of NPC's and also its just a pain to have them summoned all the time.

Any idea if its a known problem? Can anyone suggest a fix?

I cant remember for sure but I thought I remember reading somewhere if you hold down the button on console it unsummons.

I know on PC you right click it off your buff menu.

I would say that was not a possitive change. Not that my opinion matters lol

I think the concept is though that you can trigger their abilities now, which got quite a buff so there's an overall gain. Plus if you have them only on one bar, and switch they unsummon if that helps. Check the TG patch notes

Thanks.. Im not sure what you mean by the abilities thing, but thats okay. I do have them on both bars at this time; I guess I can drop it from one but it seems like an unsatisfying work around. But Its worth a try. :-)

ooo never thought to try this I will test it out next time I am on my sorc because the pets sometimes glitch and are under the ground and become useless if I cant unsummon them haha

holding doesn't unsummon the pet, it does provide another effect which is no different than pressing or double pressing the same button.

The way to unsummon (which isn't convienient is to go into the character screen, highlight the effect and hit "x" as shared by @emily3989

This works on xbox one....I too was like you. UHMMM so hey how do i control this thing.
Had a random group where the sorc suuuper pulled a room and the guy freaked but the sorc was like...O K, tell me how to unsummon them please.

Sorc pets do not attack unless you attack or are attacked.

Yes as stated before you have to actively go into your character sheet and unsummon them (such as by reputting it on your toolbar).

Now when you click the button that summons them again they will use an ability (clannfears heal you, one twilight morph heals 2 people, one gets a damage buff, and the familiar gets an AOE and then a CC I believe after a timer).

Initially they were supposed to add a means of holding down the summon button to unsummon it, but it never made it to live.

Yes...sort of. The problem I ran into is stealing causes them to attack witnesses. This first happend when I mistakenly clicked on something when trying to read a book on the same table. My npet kept attacking the "bystander" untill said witness died.

Also thanks to the previous poster with the pics and explanation. I guess the "feature with abilities making the loss of unsumkmon worthwhile" thing doesnt apply to XBox One(what I play on).

Same with ps4 mate, I noticed it just last night when I summoned a winged twilight by mistake while a group of use were sneaking up on a keep we were taking.
