3 extra (inactive) ability slots?

Normally if you want to level new abilities you have to put them into a slot in one of your action bars that is active when gaining experience or turning in quests. If you're someone who uses both swaps actively you have to give up one of your current abilities to level a new one. Sorcerers have it nicely if they don't actively use any spells on their Overload and can activate that ultimate before turning in quests to level 5 abilities on reserve which is awesome, but other classes don't have that extra 5 ability slots to do this.

The idea here is you get 3 extra ability slots that is shared on both your action bars, the 3 abilities placed into them are inactive and cannot be used nor do they give you their passive slotted benefits. When slotted into the inactive bar they receive 50% of the experience you normally gain as if they were slotted in your actual action bars. While they will take twice as long to level; however, this allows you to keep both bars with abilities you do use and not having to give up any spots to level new ones. Abilities placed in your actual action bars retain their 100% growth rate.

Isn't as easy as you think, you essentially need to switch to the bar with overload on it and then use it to activate it. It's a lot more complex in the heat of combat.

Personally I think it's a waste to put all the reserved abilities on overload bar when really you should put abilities that help you score damage with it instead.

I'd love this. I spend so much fricken time changing my abilities and armours around when handing in quests it becomes ridiculous. And I have to do it there because you can't switch things around before the last boss dies in daily random dungeon (which gives amazing XP. It almost always levels a new skill from 1-morph ready)

as awesome as that would be. consoles lack the extra buttons so no feature for us.
PLEASE REPLY TO ME WITH @dsalter otherwise i'm likely to miss the reply if its not my own thread

I don't think it is needed. You don't need all your 5 slots most of the time, so you can just replace one or two skills when you need to level something.

I think the idea is that these aren't abilities you can actively use. They are just slotted so they gain XP so you can level them up

It's worthless damage on my Stamina Sorc :P Also I don't use it in combat to level abilities, I activate Overload when turning in Quests to level those abilities on that bar.

If your own PC their are weapon slot saves I use to switch to with the touch of a hotkey. But I do agree it's quite annoying on leveling those skills up.

Lol, I still remember ppl beeing quite furious about the possibility of leveling skills by just putting them on the bar (still works as far as i know) and never even using them.

In elder scrolls-games usually one had to activly use everything (yes be agile to get agility, sneak to get better at sneaking etc) to increase these abilities or skills.

So basically you already have 5 slots to use for leveling skills... just slot them and then go quest using light and heavy attacks only.
