Training Trait to XP Gain on Kill

  • Training: This trait now increases all experience gained from all kills by a percentage instead of increasing your weapon skill line experience only.
  • Training: This trait now increases all experience gained from all kills by a percentage, instead of increasing your armor skill line experience only.

Strangely enough, after having a week where everyone was going nuts over a 100% XP buff, nobody is saying a word about the upcoming changes to the Training Trait. I posed this question in the Trait PTS thread but it was quickly buried... the question being, is there still an XP CAP in place and what is that cap? I believe during the whole 'cake week', it was stated that there is a cap on how much XP bonus you can receive- I believe it was 75% or possibly 85%. Which means that if you are using XP Scrolls and other XP bonus items, using Training on your armor/weapons could quickly reach that cap thereby rendering the use of the Training trait pointless.

So I'd like to know if this cap has been raised or if it is still in place and exactly what that cap is? It would be awesome if @ZOS_GinaBruno could kindly chime in and answer this for me. ;)

This looks really good actually imagine how quickly you could rank up alts now.

That's a good point about the XP bonus cap. There'd definitely be no point to using this trait at all if you're already running other things that buff your XP gain and hitting that cap.

It will only be good IF there isn't a cap... otherwise people will just be wasting their trait slots. Figure that an XP scroll is already 50%, then 10% from ESO+... you're already at 60%... so it wouldn't take a whole lot more to reach that cap with Training traits.

because you its offset by a exp drop if 40 CPs over the NPC levels.

So think of it this way....if you have a VR16...and champion points at DB update you're already have too many so this only makes sense for questing I guess...and maybe pushing it...daily dungeon finder on normal versions.

For those 3-49 players this seems good tho if you have 200 CPs already

The XP bonus cap is 100%, which was temporarily suspended during crack week. I can get my bonus up to 60% when not on Cyrodiil so I'd be interested to see if training can give me the last 40%

It is currently possible to stack XP buffs for a total possible increase of 85% for most types of content. There is normally a cap in place that prevents any event (a quest completion, a monster kill, etc.) from granting more than 10% of your total level value. For the anniversary event, that cap was raised from 10% to 30%.

Just so you have the actual statement that you were remembering :)

[EDIT] Added a sentence. The high % number you remembered was how high you could stack your bonus XP.

This only applies if you aren't in battle-leveled zones because battle-leveled zones you are always considered 'at level' and receive top XP. So if players want to throw on full set of Training trait and go grinding in battle-leveled zones, this would be a HUGE bonus... which is why I think there is a cap and am trying to figure out exactly what that cap is.

seems like it the xp scolls and pots that are going to be what's useless until you get to bet vet with a decent amount of championship points when you will start to want better traits on your gear. also, it means you don't have to put it on all your gear you can put the new prosperous trait on some peieces and get a lot more gold while you grind as well.

You have a point... if you're running a full set of improved gear/weapon with Training traits and have ESO+, then XP Scrolls might well be pointless until you reach more difficult content as you said.

Although... when you read that article - that 85% number is determined by how many different XP gains work together I believe. So in theory you can still stack the normal 85XP PLUS the new trait, as I imagine this trait will stack with the rest. The actual "cap" is the percentage of your level - that's what would stop you. And I imagine they count your "CP" as a level now.. so then it would depend on how much CP you have...

Sounds like a lot of math. I'll stick to my new healing done trait. ;)

So from the sound of it, there is no cap on %bonus, there is only a cap on % of your level that a single event can raise your XP. So unless you're already getting 10% of your level from a single kill, this is a fantastic change!

Just trying to figure this out... because as it sounds with VR removal, that because of so many people being more than 160 CP... that those players will receive the lowest XP from enemy kills in older 'non-battle leveled' zones. So these traits may help raise that XP gain a bit more... but seems that the biggest boon would be for those who want to grind in battle-leveled zones.
