How to level quickly?

I see people saying how they got to v1 or higher just in the bonus xp week, I was only able to get a new character to like 26 in that time.

I've heard doing the story and quests is one of the slower ways to level, so how exactly are people leveling up otherwise? I'm starting a new templar and want to get to v1 as fast as possible

Grinding packs of mobs at a time at certain locations. You can find some youtube videos directing you to cyrodiil. It would be best if you could farm there with a friend.
Basically grinding is fastest.

I got a character from lvl 3 - v16 in 3 days during the cake week xD

it goes quicker if you have a grind buddy but it is not a requirement,

Google grinding spots for your alliance and then just grind mobs,
you may want to get the skyshards in the area as they do give you skill points,

I took a character from lvl3 to lvl 15 in an hour during cake day,
could have gone further but i only wanted him lvl15 for BWB....

Grinding in sewers is best.. bloodworks for example.... You can do 15 to 20k xp from 1 room(with xp scroll) im talking 100k xp every 10 minutes.. With the cake week i did 92 cp points in +-20 hours!

Really depends on your level, and most good grinding spots I think are found through experience. For example, 2 days ago I made a new Templar and got him to level 23 that day. Yesterday I played and got him to 37 from just playing after work with the wife (she is also now 37 on a new character). It's all about finding the right spots and going from there.

But, in all honesty, you shouldn't be in any kind of rush to hit max level unless that's just your thing. I am only doing this as I have 3 vet characters already. Leveling my first time was a slow, but fun, process. There's a lot in the game to enjoy on the way up.
