Questions about Imperial City

Can someone who's completed or is familiar with the IC quests help me understand the basics of how it works? I haven't been able to find a guide to give me a good enough understanding of it. Sometimes I can be a bit slow with these things... Like for instance, everything I've seen says it revolves around PvP. Does this mean that all the quests there are meant for groups/PVP focused? Also, I'm sure I'm just missing something but what is the normal way to get to the main city other than riding there which takes so long? I'm an experienced player but I've focused so much on solo questing that I'm completely clueless to how the IC content is supposed to work, any help would be appreciated

IC in general isn't the easiest zone for solo play, and some quests require group. But they are ussual quests, but PvP is enabled in this zone so you can be killed by another player while completing some quest.
In general if you are PvE solo player only i would recommend you to avoid IC and check Thieves Guild and Wrothgar

that's pretty much what I figured, thanks! I've pretty much finished most of the Orsinium and Thieves Guild content which is why I was curious

I'm mostly PvE, but if you want to learn PvP in a low-stress environment, try IC and go to the Arboretum. Normally in Cyrodiil if you don't have a buddy to rez you it's a long ride back to where ever. In the Arboretum, the re-spawn sites for the different alliances are literally all in a row.

Yes, you die a LOT at first (and kinda for a long time) but you don't stay dead for long, so you can (sorta) learn to not take it personally.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
