Server Hosting Locations

Zenimax,

Have you considered adding additional mega server locations instead of only hosting in Dallas? While I understand cost and Dallas is a nice "middle" location, but this hurts all of us in the US who play from the West or East coast locations. There are lots of peering options in Seattle, San Jose, Los Angeles, and even Portland. On the east coast there are tons, but Ashburn VA, Miami, and New York are the best. This would help a lot of us folks in these areas reduce latency, thus improving the gaming experience. Thanks.

that's not the real issue, the issue is the games netcode as the server now has to check for bots alongside as regulate performance/mitigation,etc. That's what's really causing the lag; I did forget to mention broken patches but yeah. There wouldn't be a good reason for a new server to open unless the mega server had reach population max frequently thus shutting people out; pretty much from a business stand point it would be expensive with no little rewards for the effort.

I would have to disagree with some of this. Latency is a major factor, and when you start off 100+ ms latency to Dallas due to just where you live that amplifies the issues with the "netcode" that much more.

Not sure how much of an issue you'd have as the server is from my knowledge based in texas so... yeah. The knowledge is based on searching what players trace rt which took the main connection from the server to see where it's located which led to dallas.
So again having more servers would not be a significant change nor would they add that as it's not worth the extra $$.

That would just divide up the player base and potentially decrease interest in the game. The latency issue is not too much, unless there is a lag fest going on, which affects everyone. I moved to Asia, few weeks ago and don't suffer too much a lag with my 300+ ping, compared to my previous 60+ ping while in US.
Think of those, who play in Europe servers.

Seriously? Your complaining because your in the continental u.s. And not close enough to the server? Your Ping is 100+? How much lower do you need it? I'm in Hawaii and My ping is 150-200 and have no lag or sluggishness. Actions happen instantaneous. Once I get over 200+ than I see sluggishness. Bottom line is your not going to notice a difference in gameplay until your ping goes 200+.

Um...not to sound like an ass, but do you really think 100+ ping is a lot?
I play from Russia(yeah I don't play on EU servers, but I'm not complaining) and I'm lucky if I have <250 ping. Lowest ping I've ever seen is 198 XD I don't really have any issues til 300+, that's when weaving becomes extremely hard because I cannot see my weaved attacks anymore. At 400+ my skills' delay becomes too much to be able to rely on anything. But 250-300 is perfectly playable.

I don't think they should be housing more servers inside the US so every single american can get <100 ping. Perhaps Oceanic server though? Poor Australians with even worse ping than me lol.

Can say the same about the EU servers, they are hosted in Frankfurt am Main Germany I believe... ( Germany is a very expensive country with only relatively fast internet compared to say the eastern European countries, especially when we take cost into play).

So it would make more sense moving the servers there. I assume the only reason they have it in Germany is because Zenimax / Bethesda have a ton of employees there so it's "cheaper" in that sense because people already live there ect.

It's pretty sad what happened to the game's servers.

@ launch I could play on the U.S. servers ( much greater distance than EU ) with a ping as low as 190 in PvP in 2014.

Fast forward it 2 years later I can't play on EU servers in PvP under 300 ping unless I am just riding my horse.

I hope they see this and consider your suggestion for you guys OP. I know how it feels

Here we go again, pulling out those measuring sticks.

"My ping sucks more than yours"

    /facepalm

Can we just agree these servers are garbage regardless of where you live?

Having 300+ ping is unacceptable in a AAA MMO, regardless of most players locations.

no matter what grade of MMO, big ping is unavoidable, especially if you live far from the server, ping simply a response time between client and server, thus how fast the server and client download and upload speed, distance keep major impact in ping
