Puh, cudos to your daughter, angof was difficult ... at least when I did it shortly after the release of the game.

Whenever I visit my sister my nice is asking to play "my" game. She is 11 years old and likes to ride the horse, watch the animals and explore the territories. She is also very fond of killing werewolfes in glenumbra ... but I had to watch her getting my v14 full purple geared redguard getting stomped to the ground by a level 50 mob. That really hurted me and that is why she is only allowed to go as far as glenumbra. Soooooo, be glad and proud your daughter manages the content.

What about the storyline? My sister only agreed to letting my nice play without further supervision bc I play in english, which is a language she doesn't understand. so she wouldn't know about the plots and schemes that might just be a little to hard/mean/much for a 12 year old? How do you feel about that?

I am currently trying to convince my sister to let her play oblivion or skyrim on PC ... one of them is even rated suitable for 12 year olds (so its going to be her birthday present) and blood spills can be turned off (never liked to see blood all over the place myself). I am still looking for good arguments as my sister is not the type of person enduring to much action, death or crime herself and obviously isn't too keen on having a gamer-teen as well...

Yes ladies and gentlemen, shamed. I got shamed big time on ESO today by my 12 year daughter. See, she's relatively new to video games like ESO, in fact the only thing remotely similar to it she's played is Neverwinter... Yet, somehow she's managed something I never could. I've been playing the game almost daily since it came out, she's been playing it less than a week - What did she do you ask? She only managed to defeat Angof with a puny little level 9 Sorcerer... I have no idea how, or even how she found the quest so early, but there it is. I've always been around level 14/15 or higher before I've got to him, but not her, oooh no!

No doubt someone will come in here and brag about beating him at level 5 or something, but that's not the point.

Congrats to her! :) My first MMO was also Neverwinter. My son still complains about me playing games, even though he was the one that got me started with Neverwinter and Skyrim

    Why shame ?

If I had a kid a that did that I feel nothing but pride knowing that they're on the right track of being a otaku.

I fail to see how becoming obsessed with Manga or Anime is anything to be proud of.

Oh, wow, I didn't expect so many replies, lol. Thanks for the kind comments where they are. As for "proof", I do love a skeptic, how exactly do I video something already happened, I don't have a time machine. As for those expressing concern about a 12yo playing a game like ESO... I manage her experience as much as I can without ruining it, I'm not an idiot. There are rules, such as she can't use a mic, area chat is turned off, and she while she can join a Guild, that chat is also turned off, so even if some perv did say something to her she wouldn't hear them... How do I know she's following those rules? 9 times out of 10 I'll be watching her play, and a little thing called "trust". As to whether the story is appropriate for someone her age, all stories have a dark side to them, even Harry Potter has a dark side to it, and she's intelligent enough to know that's exactly what it is, a story...

Anyway, if you happen to see Pr1nce55 Meg4n in the game, don't forget to bow. And no, privacy settings won't allow you to contact her. ;)

...and that is why this game is rated "M", so the old farts among us can at least be safe from this kind of shaming by telling their daughters they cannot play this while pointing at the rating sticker and doing their best to keep their inner relief from showing!;)

On a more serious note... Yay for kicking Angorf's behind back to Molag Bal! ;)

@robwolf666 First of all: the game is not made for kids. Second of all: yes, it's easier now than it used to be, but this doesn't change the fact that it's not made for kids.

Here was a similar thread posted something like a year ago or less where I totally lost it in my reply to it (I don't regret it!), and I'm not going to rant again, BUT I got 1 question:

What do you do, how would you react, if some random guy came on to her and starts some kind of "dirty talk"? How could you prevent this to happen? Is that even possible? Can you protect her? You cannot make her forget when it happened.. Yeah, that was 4 questions, but anyways.

There were at least one or two threads in the near past here on the forums of which some postings made it clear that this DOES HAPPEN in this game (I guess this happens in every online environment anyways), and it happened to me in ESO as well, but I'm a grown woman and I know how to react to make them hitting the road again. A 12-year old does NOT know that.

Even a more harmless comment in chat like "wow, this dress looks sexy on you" (more in a funny way) would be a horrible thing for a 12-year old to hear or to read. I really don't want to be one of them telling her that, not knowing how old she is.

In any case, kids have nothing to do in a game like this.
    Take care.

Yup, your rant is stupid. There is nothing in this game that she is not going to hear at school. Do you have kids? Probably not because someone with kids would know that to protect your child from everything means that they won't be prepared for anything. And yes, I have a son who is now 20, who has been gaming since he was 18months old and I never told him he couldn't play certain games. Blood, violence, gore, nothing has changed the good man that he has become.

I have a son who's 20 as well, nice coincidence. But he's not a gamer at all, he's got a life outside of the computer. I guess I've done something right.

Actually, no. It's her own profile on xbox and doesn't benefit from the CP on mine, and I absolutely refuse to buy a second Plus subscription or spend any money to buy things I have on my profile for another profile, as good as ESO is I'm not getting ripped off by them. Her character is a normal one playing the game for the first time.

Strangely enough my favorite memory of playing Asheron's Call was plonking along on a coastline with a new character and ran into a girl and we adventured together for about an hour and a half, not talking much, but having a good time.

At some point the chat changed and the person told me, "Thanks so much for playing with my daughter. She had a really great time."

And I said, "What are you talking about? That was a kid?"

And he said, "Yeah, she's only 9. She really likes the big world of this game and this was her favorite day so far."

I asked, "How old is she?!"

And he said, "She's only 9."

I told him, "I can barely believe that! The only thing I even thought of her since we didn't chat too terribly much is I was glad I finally met someone who acted maturely in this game!" He got a big kick out of that. I wasn't joking. I would have never, ever guessed she was a little kid. I was just terribly relieved I didn't say anything nuts or make off-color jokes. Which is what I do the majority of the time I play, just not with strangers.

I'm really glad your kid has her own account. That's incredibly cool. I hope she has a great time, too.
