As far as I know ESO doesn't say a darn thing in the TOS of needing to speak/communicate in a certain language in order to play the game. They only support certain languages in terms of dialogue and UI text, but I'm pretty positive you can communicate any way you please when it comes to Zone or Guild chat, etc. I mean, could you imagine trying to regulate what language gets used on the NA servers? Or Talos forbid, the EU servers? People speak way too many different tongues, it would be impossible to be sure. Heck, even people speaking "English" to each other make up new words or turns of phrase all the time. Is that technically English? Should they be banned? If someone is complaining in Zone chat, feel free to drop some logic on them, even if you don't get an official statement from ZOS.

Well yes, but some people are just ignorant to logic. Why should there be precribed language in Zone-Chat. I mainly talk englisch in Zone, still I dont care, if someone talks russian, or french or italian. I mean, if people talk in their mother language, I dont think, that the content is interesting for me, so I just dont care. Dont know, why people "want" others to speak english, when they dont talk to them. Do i complain and send people to EN-Zone to talk english? I also recognized the last weeks and months, that this discussion often end up racist by the complaining people. Problem is, there shouldn't be any discussion anymore, if somewhere would be a concrete information by ZOS, I really cant read it anymore...really really really...sometimes I just wish, people get auto-kicked out of the game each time they write "Speak english in Zone!"....

The reason there isn't any rule about language is because everyone has the right to speak whatever language they please. The sole exception is the use of profanity. Aside from that a French person can use French, or English, or Spanish because they have the same right you do to communicate in their chosen language.

Well, a lot if not a lot of zone chat uses profanity or talks about sex or politics or religion or weenie sizes or are trying to pug asking for vet 16s or trying to sell items. So yeah I don't think they care much about swearing and care more about outright trolling.

But people troll in zone all the time so they mainly don't care about what goes on in zone chat unless its serious like bot spam or real life threats or someone outright spamming and not stopping but you have ignore list if you need it. If they banned a lot of people for using the f word then that would make them look bad they won't ban for swearing but do so for more serious offenses then swearing. But they have a profanity filter for a reason, if you don't want to see it then you can keep that option on. I keep it off always.

So yeah but on the other hand most on the NA Server speak english. Sometimes you might see a guild add written in another language but not often enough to worry about. I think there is more non english speakers on EU Version.
Also they have other language zone chats, but I don't think they are used much.
