Solo Friendly Class?

Hellcleave
Just wondering, for someone that starting out with no prior levelled characters, what would you recommend for a mostly solo PvE class to level?

You get a larger part of your survivability earlier than other classes as you get a great self heal and spammable ability from the start whereas other classes require a bit of work to survive at early stages.

I prefer magic but I haven't tried Stamina on a templar so I couldn't give you an unbias answer. Your self heal will be stronger as a magic templar but it should be adequate enough even if you decide to be stamina based to keep you alive for most content.

Templar since it's a weapon agnostic class, which is nice since you can level weapon skill without actually having to use any of the weapon skills and still kill stuff efficiently both in melee (Puncturing Strikes) and ranged (Piercing Javelin). Both skills comes with a magicka and stamina morph.

Sorcerer pets combined with spamming the morph of Crystal Shard that nobody supposedly uses (Crystal Blast) can wipe groups in public dungeons quite easily.

Nightblade get Drain Power late since it's the last skill in the Siphoning line, once you get that it's a cakewalk when dealing with large groups. That's not to say that NB's suck early on however, but you might need to look into weapon skills to do the work like Wall of Elements early on if you go magicka.

Dragonknight is a late bloomer, with the recent buffs to Burning Embers and Obsidian Shards combined with Igneous Shield it's solid, but I still rank it last among all classes.

It's just easier to go the magicka route IMO, I haven't done a stamina build from the start since they removed soft caps.

For end game soloing, very little compares to a magicka Sorc pet build.

When you pick a sorcerer or templar, make sure you pick passives which also help with your resource management. High Elf and Breton offer both passives which is good for magical builds. Look into both your weapon and class skill and pick abilities and passives which work together to manage your resources. First priority for attribute is to get stamina or magica up to high enough level (around 40 point out of totally 64) and then you can see if you want more health or something else.

Passives is very important to level up (place skill point) when you get enough rank to put SP into. Magic return and reduction help to keep you healing both on templar and when get a pet on sorcerer (after first summon TM, then you will be able to heal each time you use that summon).

Use enchantment with spell cost reductions on ring and necklace to reduce cost of magica.

I went with Sorcerer when I started (was/still am an orc) and without even really knowing what I was doing (went hybrid at a time when hybrid was no longer really any good) I was able to solo essentially everything short of dungeons. Putting a single point initially in summoning the scamp and then, once leveled, another point into upgrading it to a clannfear and your troubles of soloing become all but extinct I found when I leveled up.

Now at end game I find I can still solo a substantially large amount of content (such as Wrothgar world bosses) and with a simple gear swap I can change roles at a drop of a hat and become super group friendly. This is not to mention that there are videos of Mag Sorcs who apparently solo veteran dungeons (looking forward to trying that myself) as well as some trial bosses.

Admittedly I have very little experience at the moment with other classes outside of leveling a few alts up a little bit, so if you are adverse to playing a sorcerer then perhaps another is just as/if not more solo friendly!

Magicka Nightblade, magicka templar or magicka sorcerer. Never played as a magicka DK.

Sorcerer is by far the easiest class I've ever played while soloing. Clannfear, Twilight, and Storm Atronach (ultimate) summons make everything so easy. I could solo any world boss (which is often the hardest solo questing content) with ease thanks to summons.

True, PvE only you get great heals butbin PvP its less due to battle spirit.

Just to level in PVE? Magicka Templar, hands down. Soloing end game, probably Sorcerer, but solo play is nearly nonexistent end game..

Thanks everyone for your advise. I've levelled a Magika Templar and DK up to around Lvl 20, I like them both but Templar seems it could get a little boring in the long run, while the Magika DK seems interesting.

I do like the idea of supporting my group and healing, how hard is healing in dungeons?

You can heal in both and if you are level 20 doing scaled dungeons at your level then You should be fine. DK obsidian sheild will help with your healing in dungeons as group sheild. But, it will be faaaaar easier healing on Templar and you will bring better utility and support to group with Templar. With Templar you will have abilities that help your groups resource management with luminous shards (spear shards) and radiant aura (restoring aura).

    Pet sorc.

I use inevitable det (mines aren't as reliable but they do have stun and can be used if you don't have the assault line leveled) and daedric prey (buff for pet damage, the other morph is better for pvp imo) for burst aoe damage. Lightning flood (I don't use liquid lightning because I don't have magicka issues), some single target destruction staff skill depending pve/pvp (crushing shock(interrupt and stagger, pve), frost clench(root, pvp)), empowered ward (the extra regen is helpful as an argonian especially) and structured entropy for buff.
Ults are greater atronach (much prefer the longevity) and energy overload - [third bar with endless fury and fragments, empowered ward + 2 pets](use this third bar as a sorc!!! A great way to recover magicka with this morph) with twilight tormentor (don't need extra heal if solo) clanfear for tank and heal. Solo'd a couple vet dungeons with this and plenty normal ones so really works as a solo build.

When I'm running around with a mate I swap out inv det for ward ally and resto staff instead of d/w on second bar. (I use destro staff and d/w for extra spell damage (2xvicous death) normally)

I wear arch mage (5) for the magicka return because I don't normally run a resto and vicous death (2 armour, and weapons) for spell crit/damage etc. Arcane willpower rings/necklace.

About healing...templar is the best because of class skills but I've healed a lot of the vet dungeons with my sorc (obviously not the same spec as above) so it can be done but you're making life hard for yourself...I couldn't be arsed to stay a healer for long.

Yeah you can get an extra couple of thousand mp or better regen with the perfect race but I've done it with an argonian, the most neglected class in game, so play what you want and enjoy!!!!!!!
