Armor sets - at which lvl should I craft?

Hey everyone

So I am playing a 45lvl Sorcerer with my friend NB who has the same lvl

I have my main Templar VET7 who has all crafting skills at max

I have just realised that I can actually craft sets, which are more superior to standard non-set armour

I've researched a bit into all various types of craftable armour sets and found 2 sets to craft for my sorcerer & my buddy NB (seducer’s set & noble’s conquest set)

However what I have come to realise that if I craft these two sets (which will require a significant amount of resources) by the time we hit VET 1/2 or more our armour set might get old as it does not adjust to ur lvl

That is to say that at VET 1/2/3 some of the items we find through loot or PVP rewards might be simply better than those I have crafted

So the question is whether at which lvl should I craft armour sets for my sorcerer & my buddy NB, as I don’t want to realise after 10lvl (which will pass pretty quick) that the set I've crafted is already old

So I am trying to decide for which lvl should I craft those items

Thx for attention

For me, I craft non-vet level armor every ten levels. Once vet, I craft a new set every two levels.

That's pretty much what I do too. Even though you'll find better armor, the set bonuses make the lower level armor better for a lot of levels. I tend to make it just in time for next main story quest every 10 levels. Vet ranks are going away, but I did every other level too.

It really depends on what you are comfortable with. I find crafted sets make a huge difference and I have a ton of materials so it's easier for me to just craft whatever and whenever.

As a rule of thumb I craft a set at every new tier of material. Sometimes I skip a tier. But as long as you are not dying and killing things fast enough you are good.

Even just upgrading weapons instead of the whole set can make a big difference.

I upgraded usually when the mats change as those seemed significant enough to warrant revisiting and incorporated the best of the drop sets i could. After each "mat up" the only changes before next mat were drops.

If you PvP a lot and level slowly, then you want to upgrade more frequently. If you PvE a lot and level quickly, every five levels or even more (vet levels) should be plenty. And for stamina build, just making new weapons with the old set can allow you to stretch that old set out longer. Pre 50, you can easily go ten to fifteen levels between new sets.

    agree

and because of this Vet removal thing coming soon, I would not invest too much
so every ten levels or so to level Vet 1 and only blue, unless you have enough stock to do easily purple
    more often above Vet 1
Only your Weapons should be purple and for Endgame gold Vet 16.

    About the same here.

    4, 16, 26, 36, 44, vet 1.

    Then every two vet ranks.

    Personally, I only change/craft gear at level 4, 14, 34, VR1, VR6, VR14 and at cap.

Those specific levels only because that's where I've got sets I've kept from previous characters and materials for those levels are plentiful for various reasons... and the VR14 only because I've got a lot of gear from the old level cap.

I suppose it really doesn't matter though, you get so many mats from deconstructing stuff to level crafting.

Just don't use any gold tempers.

I was crafting new gear at every new material, which means every 10 at low levels, and then after several veteran ranks. Or EVEN later, it really does not matter that much when you're PvE-questing through the normal zones. And SET items is worth crafting/wearing when you hit VR1, or later. Not really necessary before Veteran. Sometimes I even made the pre-VR16 sets legendary, but more just for the fun of it, it's not necessary either before endgame.

The main thing about creating new sets is about glyph levels, not material levels. iirc, you get ~1% total boost to set bonuses per vet level. Resistance? I'm not sure on but I wouldn't imagine this to a deciding factor even for a Tank.

So it just depends on your bank balance. On my first run through: I made the following sets
    - blue v1
    - purple v2 (because I wanted 6-trait sets)
    - purple v9
    - purple v14
    - gold v16.

Anyway, I didn't notice a difference at any set change other than blue v1 (Night Mother's Silence & Ashen Grip) to purple v2 (Hunding's Rage & Night Mother's Gaze) but that could've just been because I had a better build.

Just do it as often as you can be bothered/afford but it's probably better to do it at the levels where glyphs increase and materials stay the same to save farming/buying the new materials (providing you've been saving them)

Just do it when ever you feel like it. Sometimes I get bored of what I'm wearing and go craft some new sh*t just because!

This is how I suggest people get crafted sets for those I make.

Levels 1-28 use green sets as you can outgrow them pretty quick and every 7 levels.
Levels 30-50 use blue sets and get new ones every 5-10 levels.
Vet 1-16 get a blue set made and when you start having a hard time clearing things that you normally wouldn't have, make a current level set.

I craft blue sets every 8-10 levels at non-vet, purple sets every 4 vet levels. And that's overkill. Green non-vet would be fine, but I am a ton of tempers, so...

OP, since you are new to crafted sets, I suggest trying out a bunch of them. Julianos, Kagneracs, Torug's and Magnus are magicka staples but can be mixed up in many different ways to get the balance of power & regen you want.

On my Templar alt, I made armor at Level 10, 20, 30 and I'm now level 49 and still wearing my level 30 gear. Have no problems getting through any content. I was even using level 20 warlock jewelry cause I had nothing better until reaching about level 46.

I think it depends a lot on if you have a lot of champion points. If I had 0, I would probably make gear more often.

On one of my vets, I did V1, V7 and V12, but I only played with my wife and friend, so with 3 of us nothing could kill us.

If you are jamming through levels then at every new material type for non vet (about ten levels or so). If you are cruising through the campaign and taking your time then every new region you enter given you are within that zones level range. Once you get to vet levels change out every 3-4 levels. You can stretch any of these numbers if you are talented or experienced. This is also assuming you use blue/superior to purple/epic quality items for non-vet and purple/epic for vet. If you stretch out your armor crafting gaps then at least bring weapons up to date by crafting a second set a few levels ahead to swap out the dated ones.

    Don't craft armor until VR1.

    Make a set at VR1.

Make another set at VR8. However, if you are grinding to VR16, skip this.

And lastly another set at VR16.
