For a while there I was getting shoulder pieces about 1/2 the time with gold keys. Since thieves guild I have not received a single shoulder piece. I don't do pledges every day, but do them often enough that I should have at least landed a few.

Well its working.....which is good. If you were on the end you'd not even post, but in all seriousness, you're not even at odds of a needle in a haystack if youre playing the game only for one item regardless of the encounter just based on possible loot in that encounter.

If there were only 1,000 possibilities of drops, you would need to do a min of 156 runs of gold keys and another 156 of blue to even quantify if RNG is likely or less likely.


RNG - Random number generator.
ie: We downed (insert boss name here) and he didn't drop my (insert desired loot item here). The RNG hates me!

I just key farm for the vr14 undaunted sets for my vr16's. Because that's what they deserve.

They added v14 crap loot back into the chest for some damn reason. It BS and basically a waste of keys now. Save your keys until they add some new stuff. Then just wait for engine guardian in the PvP merchant, buy your shoulder.

Youre better off saving gold and AP for when it hits the elite merchant in cyrodill. I have 2 epaulets of that set. I got a light and heavy when i saved my keys for the v16 increase.

But you wont ever see me doing pledges ever since, its just not worth the time!

Yeah, RNG is unbelievable... Before reaching vr16 I have been collecting all the gold and silver keys from Undaunted pledges. When I hit vr16, I had like 35 gold keys and 40 silver. And guess what... My first gold chest gave me molag kena shoulders (medium/divines), and the second one - lord warden shoulders (medium/divines). After that I got some (maybe 2-3) other monster set shoulders but not in the type and/or trait I wanted (trash for me). I just wanted kena and I got it in my perfect combination (type/trait) by using my very first gold key. Now I'm farming kena's helm but I guess my luck abandoned me... xD

Gotta love RNG. While not this game, my other mmo drops certain special weapons, using the rng system. 40 months of play, still never had one drop. So, do not feel bad.

Now I just need my light armor, Divines Valykn Skoria shoulders.

Considering the amount of luck that I had 2 days ago (I got a shoulder loot from each chest and pug healed for a group of high-level PVE players only to get a perfect light Divines Valykn Skoria helm on my total 2nd clear of vCOA) I thought that I might have hit a lucky time in my life, where I could loot all manner of good things from the chests now.

Then when I opened my most recent pledges, I got Undaunted Pants, soul gems, and a Ruby Ash Staff.

The RNG gods were probably laughing their heads off at that.

Well it's a curse to get some perfect loot the first time you do a pledge or any other daily - that always gets me hooked but I never see those perfect drops again when I do them on regular basis...

I rather wait for that merchant every weekend and get the infused set from her rather than pull the few hairs I have left on my head out in frustration

My first ever silver key was engine guardian shoulders in medium second SILVER key right after was nereineth light divines. I guess I got lucky

^ same as this guy, my first key was engine guardian before I even knew what monster helm sets were. I was narked I couldn't sell it (bound) and almost deconned it but thought I'd look it up. Second key was Maw of Infernal. Haven't done any since, I assumed it was 1 for 1, ha!

It's not just that either. I farmed Crag Friday to Monday and got 1 potent and 1 fortified nirn. When I wasn't farming Crag I was in Hews Bane farming there for 0 kuta and minimal Repora. Resulting refinements yielded 3 temps and 2 wax. I must of gone through 2k+ each of mats over the 4 days.

Hirelings are just as bad. 3 maxed enchanters and over the 4 days two of then didn't even find any aspect runes. That's 3 skill points for bugger all back.

In that time I could have actually achieved sonething worthwhile.

RNG sucks.

You might have to just bite the bullet and buy them when they come around again. I did. Although cheap they aint.
