I'm terrible at pvp, and find it frustrating as hell that I can throw everything I've got at someone to minimal effect while they can turn around and smash me into the ground in a couple of hits. Have no idea what i'm doing wrong there >.>

Anyways, I'm at assault rank 3, and I'm trying to get to assault 5 to pick up vigor for pve content. On PS4 NA aldmeri dominion. Is there anyone that can help me rank up the pvp lines, or any advice on how to do so?

If you get killed fast maybe is because you dont have any Impenetrable armour traits. Use at least 4 or more if you can, the more crit resistance you have the less damage you will receive. I strongly recommed to use impenetrable traits... I hope that helps you :)

    Oh, that is easy :)

    What you do is below;

    Enter crowded campaign
    Slot rapid regen
    Follow zerg and spam
    Profit

So in other words; spam regen while you stay behind the lines of big battles.

Yesterday i got about 100k AP in a couple of hours doing this on Azura EU (grinding for deto on mag dk). Best is open battles. If you spam regen on an open field 20v20 you will gain about 2-5k AP depending on if you do any damage at all and if your side wins ;)

Cool beans. I suggest running 2H and bow. On your bow bar run snipe and bombard plus some buff skills/defensive skills (cloak, shuffle). Look for keep defense or attack fights, then go there and participate. Stay with your allies and contribute ranged attacks. Situational awareness is key. Until you get better at PvP, attack when they do and retreat when they do. They probably know something you don't.

When you capture a keep or defend it, wait around for the tick. A few minutes of no one dying, and there will be a large AP tick shared by anyone at the keep.

Also, siege, siege, and siege. This is a great way to earn AP and contribute as an inexperienced player. Buy some flame balistas and meatbag catapults to use against enemy players. Trebs are for seiging keeps. If there's no space to put one down, use seige repair kits on other players seige weapons. Keep lots of door and wall repair kits. Repair walls when the fight is over. Also, you can farm dolmens in cyrodiil to get cold fire siege weapons. These deal a lot of damage against players.

Learn how to escape. As a stam blade, on your bow bar you'll want to dodge roll, cloak, bar swap, recast rally when cloak expires plus use a potion (because you don't have vigor yet). Use line of sight--run around a tree or rock. Never engage more than one opponent in the open field.

You have lots of melee options for your 2H bar. Ambush, surprise attack, wrecking blow, etc. Be sure to understand CC. If there is a swirling circle at an enemies feet, they are CC immune. If there is no circle, use fear on them then ambush/surprise attack them until they are low health, then execute them.

Keep your buffs up. At a minimum, rally and shuffle. Also, when rally has been running for a while, you can recast it for a big burst heal. This is a primary way to get heals as a stam build (plus vigor). Always use food or drinks.

Lastly, you'll need a PvP build. Focus on weapon damage and stamina recovery. 3K weapon damage (buffed) and 1.5K stam recovery are good beginner targets. Run impen traits on your armor. Run 7 medium or 5m/2H unless you have the undaunted passives.

Don't listen to the folks that say just spam mutagen. That won't make you better at PvP. The goal is to get better at PvP and maybe find out you enjoy it. That's what I did. I hated PvP until I spent a week grinding for vigor, and now that's all I play.

    Hope this helps!

    L2P PvP :) ( just teasing )

    Practice makes perfect.

But one thing I suggest, if you really really hate fighting, is buy some sieges and just defend. Also you can just go to a big fight and do nothing and still get the D-Tick. Just yesterday someone said they got 3000ap just for showing up and doing nothing.

Another thing I suggest is just go around and repair walls or Poor oil on the enemy.

There is so many things you can do without really fighting and getting killed.

Back before they removed CP from BwB, i had a level 10 character up to AW level 4 by just repairing, and now its much easier to level AW skills.

    Edit:
Almost forgot, join a group. I get allot of AP when I'm in my group. Another thing you can do is the PvP Quests, they give you AP.

I'm wondering if I should just give up on stamina and go magicka nb, seems like everything is stacked against stamina builds in this game.

Assuming I decide to do that, and run a siphoning/resto build, should I go with heavy armor or light?

    I like my Stam NB, I just WB everyone :) I get between 100-200 kills a night ( non-vet )

Mag NB, you should go light armor and work on getting the VD set.

Actually, add 1 med and 1 heavy with it, there is a passive in one the skill lines that you will benefit from wearing light, med and heavy.

One thing I had a problem in the past was, I never collected skyshards. I would go to PvP at level 10 and when I reached level 40, i was very weak. So make sure you collect all your skyshards for skill points and use potions and drinks.

Ok, so I'm going to stay stamina, not going to give up a build I like.

I will need to craft a new set of impenetrable armor. Should I stick to 7 medium or go with a couple heavy pieces?

I already use bow and 2h, so I can keep that the same. I'll probably put blur or evasion on one bar as I hear that helps a lot.

    Any other advice?

The armor should look something like this: 2 impen, 2 divine, and 3 infused. The divine and impen go on the smaller pieces of armor which are shoulders, gloves, boots, and belt. The 3 infused go on the big pieces which are chest, legs, and helm. I think the traits you want on your weapons should be sharpened for penetration. All the gear you have should be improved to at least blue quality, but the higher the better. When you reach VR16, consider getting gold.

When you're crafting armor, I hope you're crafting set armor because the bonus does help. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with having 5 pieces of hundings rage. And the other pieces can be from another set like night mothers.

And if you haven't been doing this already, put stamina glyphs on your armor. The more stam you have, the more damage you can do.

Personally I would just say get used to be squishy, and go with the 7 med. Rely on cloaking more. I can understand using mixed armor if you actually have the undaunted passive to at least 7.

Use food to buff your health and stamina. If you can't make your own food, you can buy some from the siege merchant in Cyrodiil.

Have a mundus stone that matches your build. I personally use the warrior to buff weapon damage, but others might prefer max stam or stam recov. Really it's all about playstyle and making a build that matches it.

You can be a terrible player and still gain plenty of AP :)

Join a crowded campaign and take part in a giant battle causing the entire server to lag. Heal your allies using anything you can, preferably Mutagen. Make sure your alliance wins the battle and stay at the keep for the Keep takeover AP tick and also the defense AP tick afterward.

I normally use hunding's 5 and night mother 3, but thinking about nights silence for the pvp set to get around faster while sneaking. I probably won't put too many tempers towards the pvp set since I'm only using it to get to assault 5, I need the extra Stam heal for pve, I don't generally enjoy pvp.

He may also want to consider a full 7 pieces of impen (I personally run 6 and 1 divines, mostly because I'm to lazy to farm pledges for a medium impen Kena shoulder). Also consider buying Agility jewerly....I know the robust rings and necklace are expensive, but I had good success using the Healthy ones when I was starting out. Even the arcane ones wouldn't be all that bad, the extra magicka will help out with his cloaks and fears.

Yep this is great advice. Extra stats on Agility make it worth it in Arcane or Health over other options for stam NB. Impen is pretty important as well. With 5+ impen and like 50pts into resistant CP you can negate most crit damage. With how impen is working it is more useful than divines or infused for stam builds.

Crit isn't as useful in PvP as PvE. With how easy and common it is to stack impen and how damage shields cannot be crit you don't get as much benefit from it as most think.

You might see more success with a very cheap starter set up like this:

5x eternal hunt (crafted, all impenetrable)
3x lekis focus (very cheap to buy in guild traders, impenetrable if you can find it for armor, sharpened for bow/2h)
3x agility (can be arcane to start which is really cheap, all weapon damage)

2h bar: Ambush, Surprise attack, Rally, Executioner, Mass Hysteria : soul harvest

bow bar: Shuffle, Piercing mark, posion injection, relentless focus, shadowy disguise : meteor or werewolf

    serpent mundus

for cp: 60 into hardy, 60 into elemental defender (the unchained unlock is godly). the rest can go into resistant (for more crit resist). 98 into stam regen, split the rest between cost reduction and dodgeroll/break free reduction. 98 into mighty and the rest into a mix of whatever you'd like depending on play style.

Ambush empowers your next attack 20%. Surprise attack is high damage, and easy to weave. it also activates your shadow passive for extra spell/armor resist. Executioner for finishing low health targets. Mass hysteria fears 3 people and it goes through block. It also reduces their damage by 15%. Soul harvest costs only 50 ulti, helps you generate extra ulti, hits hard, and reduces their healing. Rally is your heal.

Shuffle gives a passive 20% dodge chance, piercing mark is an armor debuff and to handle other nightblades, poision injection is a weavable range skill + execute, relentless focus for 8% damage and 10% stam recovery boost. Shadowy disguise is your cloak and is better than dark cloak this patch. It will cause all your heals while active to crit. When you get vigor you can replace whichever skill you find least useful to your play style.

With the 5x eternal you will proc posion mines that make it harder for people to pursue you as you escape or reposition. It also has a lot of recovery built in. Make sure you switch to your bow bar when escaping or repositioning as the passive gives you 30% speed boost as well.

You can run werewolf instead of meteor to give you 15% recovery bonus which on your bow bar.

Thanks for the advice guys. Some of the set gear you're suggesting I dont think I have access to right now, so I'll probably just have to go with all crafted gear. i've never heard of the eternal hunt set though... I have 50 blacksmithing / clothing / woodworking with 6 traits or more on everything, but i've never seen that set. Where's it made at, and how many traits does it require?

I'm thinking of going 2 heavy + 5 medium to boost my armor and defense even more. I really have issues with being able to survive any kind of incoming damage, especially only having rally as a healing option and only being able to use cloak 3-4 times before I'm out of magicka.

I play on the non-champion campaign (primarily because i've only got like 90 champion points right now), so those dont really factor in, but i'll look into altering them as my build changes for pve at least.

For the skill bars, I'm thinking:

    2h:
    Surprise attack
    Ambush
Executioner (currently have reverse slice, i'm waiting to see what they do with it as a 'zerg buster' attack in the patch)
    Mass Hysteria
    Rally
For the ultimate, I guess I can give soul harvest a shot, I tend to run with dawnbreaker for the extra damage though.

    Bow:
    Lethal Arrow
    Magnum Shot
    Poison Injection
    Shuffle
    Cloak
Still not sure on the ultimates here too, I might give meteor a try, I never really considered it for a stamina build.

I'll probably go 7 impenetrable for a pvp set, I dont have cheap access to enchantment glyphs for my gear and I think the impen would probably help me stay alive longer.

Is it worth trying the night's silence set for the extra stealth speed, or should I focus more on non-stealth gameplay?

Nah night's silence 5 piece isnt worth it.

Dawnbreaker gives you 8% weapon damage, sure, but hitting someone with soul harvest, which is almost always up, will give you a 20% damage boost against that target for a few seconds so it ends up being more overally single target damage, plus the whole heal debuff and gaining extra ultimate while slotted.

Eternal hunt is 9 trait located in Thieves Guild area. If you can't make it yourself it's fairly easy to find a crafter who will make if for you if you find the mats and tip them 1-2k per piece made. Since you have 50 clothing everything in wrothgar will drop rubedo (that has a chance to drop leather) or you can harvest silk and sell it or trade it for leather directly. I was able to get 1000 leathers in a couple hours today.

2/5 heavy/medium also isn't worth it. The extra armor isn't enough and you will lose a chunk of cost reduction and regen - which since you are playing no-cp can't be made up for in cp areas.

Use a axe/maul swords aren't that great for stam builds.

use 7x impen, you'll need the impen.
Have you looked up a stam blade pvp build, go google a few they shouldn't of changed since last patch to be honest.

Just join a group and run around for a few hours vigor is like 90k ap, there been some time where iv'e got 120k ap an hour, the max ap i've gotten is 1.2m ap in a day which would of got me from assault 10 from 0.

Do something useful for the group, don't go running off on your own, stay for defensive/offensive ticks, use bombard it's very good for group play.

Got an alt to Assult 7 over the weekend. Went into a campaign where that character's faction was strong and mostly leached defense ticks from failed attacks on keeps.

Replenish ap bonus every hour by killing a dungeon boss, some healing springs spam from the walls, and some repairs of walls. It can be done without even killing. Just keep an eye on the map, jump around from keep to keep when you see cross swords. Surf the web while checking in on your charcter to see that the keep you parked them in is still dropping AP. Good luck.

Personally I would advise running the Greatsword, it's passives boost your overall weapon damage which also means bigger heals from Rally (since its your only heal, I think it important to buff it as best you can). Your dps output is going to be high enough to kill a good deal of targets without the extra penetration, especially if you empower your soul harvest/dawnbreaker. A great rotation is ambush, soul harvest, mass hysteria, light attack, then either surprise attack spam or execution spam.
Personally I don't feel like piercing mark is a good ability....apply it before your first move and it will alert the enemy of your presence and the armor de-buffs you get from it are the same you get from surprise attack. If your using a bow, I'd go with Bomard for aoe + and root over pricing mark. (Also piercing mark using magicka, which you'll want to save for mass hysteria and cloak).

It boosts raw damage, not weapon damage. Sharpened 2h maul is better, really, but either will work just fine.

This one likes to see there are others too prefering nothing but Khajiit as race

I run 2h/bow 90% of the time since pre release. I see you are vr7 in your sig so ur scaled. your gear must be up to date and purple to be competetive. I personally prefer kind of jack of all trades builds and use 2 slots to switch skills depending on situation. So I have 7/7 impen to survice bust, decent dmg, decent survivability, melee and range option, enough sustain.

If I had 1 advice I would say learn how to animation cancel with heavy attacks. Lethal arrow + heavy attack + poison arrow or silver shards does annoying high sustained ranged dmg, Ambush+heavy attack+ soul tether+heavy attack+surpise attack kills almost everything. There are vids at youtube to show you.

And waiting for def ticks gives an ap burst. Most just run after the last 3 enemies after defending a resource. If you wait a minute you often get 4-5k ap for free.

Stay in the second row, only go in melee range if the enemy group is defeated and just needs to be finished off.
