Group finder queue for DPS.

Was discussing this issue in someone else's thread about certain roles queuing in. Does this happen in any other MMO or game where it takes a long time for a DPS to get a position more than a tank or healer? Before anyone calls me a noob, I have not played many MMOs because I do not own a PC for gaming aside from Neverwinter.

When I used to queue for Neverwinter as DPS it was 10x faster than ESO and I remember Neverwinter having more DPS roles than tanks and healers as well. I am trying to figure out why it takes longer for DPS in queue than other roles in ESO other than a reason because there's a shortage of tanks and healers unless that's the actual reason.

Keep it civil, this isn't a complaint thread I am just genuinely confused. So if people should be punished they queue as a certain role to get in a group faster, why not fix it so everyone can get in the group equally as possible as all the other roles or is that not a thing? Or should the DPS deserve to wait longer than a tank or healer because they aren't seen as important? Shouldn't it be equal where DPS should be able to get as fast of a position as other roles or all MMOs like this? Is it something on ZoS's side with coding or programming on queue times or just player base being short on roles?

Am I missing something? Because the other threads I read people don't seem to care that DPS should wait longer queue times than a tank and healer.

Yes most of MMORPG have the same problem. It's worse with ESO because it cost a lots to change builds so you can't simply change skills and stats for tank, then pay about 10k gold to switch to a dps glass canon no sustain build for 1 shotting people in pvp, then another 10k for a healer, or 1v1, 1vX solo roamming pvp, or sustain dps for questing or dungeon. Most people will stuck with 1 role, usually dps, because it work both in pvp and pve, dungeon and leveling. Some can dual heal/dps because if you are a magicka dps then you only need to put some extra points in healing staff and you are good, no need to change gear. But tank, most tank required a completely different build, stats and gear wise from heal and dps. And with a tank focus build you usually useless beside tanking, you will do no damage in pvp, and leveling slower than dps build. That's why tank are so rare in ESO.

    I agree. It's absolutely horrible.

When I log on GW2 to find a group, it is near instantaneous. But than again, they don't have the traditional tank/healer roles.

In general the grouping tools in this game feels so damn sluggish, and it makes trying to find groups seem tedious and out of the way on console. I can't just log on and say, "today, I just want to complete these specific dungeons that I haven't yet done". I find myself waiting in queue for 30+ minutes often, even though I am queue'd for 8 or more dungeons.

As a WoW player one of the benefits is having an alternate spec available so you can play as an effective tank while in groups then 10 seconds swap into a battle ready DPS or healer. There's no dual specialization in this game, now late game that doesn't really matter as much when you are flooded with skill points that you can fill multiple roles with one character. However for people level 49 and under you don't have much leeway in how you place your points if you do choose to go tanking, you can end up gimping yourself in other aspects of the game such as being able to go as a full DPS or healer as many of those chosen skills don't compliment each other. For those above level 49, we also only have one Champion point setup or else constantly spending 3000g and 5 minutes redistributing points every time we switch roles if we want to be competitive in Veteran dungeons or Trials, the other solution is choosing a diluted combination of points to fill two roles.

Dual specialization or having two ways our points are setup would be nice in my opinion where I can have skill and champion points spent one way for my tanking and another for my healing. My Templar used to be a fully dedicated healer and was great at, but has recently switched to tanking. I don't have enough skill points to do both efficiently, as he is also my primary crafter and a great deal of points in there, so I stuck with tanking as his main focus. More of my top characters would also take up tanking and DPS or healing and DPS to fill whatever is missing, rather than being focused down one line.

Not everyone is going to farm every single skill point in the game which can be a daunting task especially with multiple characters. I hate PvP, I find it boring so those skill points I will never get except maybe the first couple of points. I will go around Cyrodiil and collect Sky Shards, but not with every character. Some players despise questing and will forego the extra skill points from the quest lines. Those that dislike grouping may never get most or any of the Craglorn Sky Shards.

Many of us vet players have multiple toons up to cap, so not sure about the whole "it's too expensive and worse with other MMOS" when joining dungeon finders I'll find in other MMOs to be more so helpful, than a pain.

ESO isn't the only MMO to have customization on the fly. FFXIV has this and IMO a better system to it as well.

WoW, FFXIV and hell even DCUO has a better dungeon finder than ESO. Dungeon finder practically a standard in todays MMOs and has been for a long time. Why this heap of crap has even been implemented is beyond comprehension.

So no OP, this isn't what should happen.

Zeni tries too hard to not be similar to it's competitors, yet, for some reason, they think it's logical to differ in activities that actually work!

ESO is far too liberal with class selection especially in dungeon finder.

You're a sorc tank/ healer / dps? WTH? For god sakes, just pick one!

Only solution is to create another build. My NB runs with a Hunding's and night mother set as well as an armour master set for tanking and I go in as both. People cry when they see a NB tank but soon shut up with I just park the overfiend up all day long and don't require a single shard but hey.

Biggest issue is as a sorc you have no chance, we're even getting sorcs going in as healers lol mutagen for the win but tbh I don't mind taking an extra sorc, if you've got a stamplar or stamblade with no vigor then it's tiresome reviving them all the time. The assigned group leader should get the option to "fish" for what they want most vet dungeons you can easily roll with just 4 dps anyway, only a few you need a healer and I only tank for ICP and sometimes COA to make it easy.

The ultimate aim of group finder should be to get people to queue as the role they intend to do. When only 3 dungeons need tanks, they should flag the others as 3 dps and one healer, then no one is selecting roles they don't intend to do and queues are quicker.

People say this is not a trinity game, but it is a trinity finder.

This as well. They need to beef up the mechanics in all of the dungeons, not just a select few. And because of these lack of classes needed IN these dungeons, I don't blame the players one bit.

Make all dungeons to where you NEED a tank, 2 dps AND a legitmate healer. Since they don't have this, it's pointless to fully force players in to individual roles. Up the dungeon mechanics and then lock the players roles in place. Then they should tune the whole group finder afterwards.
