Dear Bethesda developers,
The PC version of the game uses DirectX 11 and the MAC client use OpenGL (4.1 ?). My question is simple, why do you maintain both rendering back end ?
If you use OpenGL (ES), your engine will be the same on PC, MAC, PS4. I'm software engineer and I developped my own engine and it's the same code (99,99%) on PC and Android (native) for OpenGL/OpenGL ES.
I'm sorry but I don't understand your choice. If you could explain quickly it would be great.
In comparison, ID Software's Doom 4 & Wolfenstein uses OpenGL. (ID Software is owned by Bethesda now) and the engine are AWESOME in term of quality and performances and are bug free. That's why I'm asking the question : why DirectX11 ?
