Essence of Magicka 100 pots for 25k...that's the only ones I can ever find why are potions more expensive than crafting a end game set... Do they really cost this much to make??

100 potions will take 25 or either 2 or 3 different ingredients that are acquired one at a time. so that 50 to 75 times of picking just those flowers, not to mention all the others you pick so that maybe the flower you need will spawn next. Some of the reagents for these and the 3 way health pots sell for 200g and up each also.

You might as well just grind AP in Cyrodiil for a few hours and buy the PVP Magicka pots(with AP), much better buffs too, spell power buff included.

Look at the prices of the ingredients to make the potions. Then you will see why the potions are so expensive, and why it's can be advantageous to farm for alchemy ingredients as you run around the world.

They don't cost me anything to make, except time. I haven't spent much time looking at prices for potions, but the times I have they seem very overpriced and a lot of them are just dropped from mobs.

Not Tri Pots. And the Mob dropped potions are about 20% weaker than even single attribute player made potions. But even two ingredient potions can give two effects so player made potions are vastly superior to mob drops. Mob drops are really just vendor trash.

For example, Columbine is 350 gold, each, Mountain Flower and Bugloss go for around 60 to 90 gold, each. Then the Lorkhans Tears are 140 to 150 gold, each. So, you have 600 to 700 gold in ingredients to make 4 potions, so that averages out to 150 gold for each potion on the low end. And, these are NA/PC prices, the cheapest of all the platforms and servers.

A stack of 100 potions can last me a month or more. But I don't PvP or run Trials. But, when I am running Vet Dungeons I can pop these things like Candy so I can only imagine how fast people go through them in PvP and Trials.

OK, not tri pots what? They're not overpriced the few times I've checked prices on them? Or that they don't cost me anything to make? If it's that they're aren't overpriced the times I've checked, then I ask you what were those prices? And I'm aware that dropped potions are trash, in fact that was my point. When I find them in guild stores for 100-200 gold a pop or more, I find that not at all worth the asking price.

XBox prices are outrageous for ingredients. If you see 1 Columbine for 700 it's a steal. It's very common for it to cost 1000 to 2000 gold to make just 4 VR15 Tri Pot Potions. If I sell them at 25K for 100 there is a 95% chance I'm losing money. Namira's Rot? Forget it. 20k for 10 sometimes.

These are legit XBox prices in major trading hubs. It's almost impossible to turn a profit on potions due to ingredient costs unless you charge a ton of gold.

And please note, I sell things at the lowest prices of anyone I know.

I seriously need to sell ingredients. ..

Potions are expensive because of the time that it takes to run around harvesting nodes. You never know what reagents you will find so its a pretty solid grind to get a decent amount of any one type of reagent. On top of this, you need three reagents to make the good potions with multiple effects. My suggestion; don't use your horse when traveling and harvest every node you see. It will take longer to get from place to place but is well worth it

You said potions were dropped from Mobs. I said not Tri Pots which are the potions most people use. The ones that restore Health, Stamina and Magic.

The Essence of Magicka potions the OP is asking about are probably the ones that restore magic, boost spell power and boost magic regen, those are not cheap to buy. So, that is a Tri Pot also.

That's exactly what I do. I pick every flower, etc, on my main, a NB. My old main, a v14 sorc, has max all the crafts and skills. I just feed her my mats and motifs to make stuff for my NB.

And yeah, it's mainly to avoid the foobar guild kiosk system.

I have also been reduced to: "If I can't make it, I don't use it".

They aren't cheap to buy, but they are cheap to make. I wouldn't call them tri pots either since restore magic and the regen boost are from the same effect. Restore magic/spell power/spell crit is a tri pot.

I'd like to personally thank the OP. I didn't realize there was such a demand for Spell Power/Crit tri-pots until he/she complained about it with this post. After reading this post and the ongoing debate about Vicious Death set, I realized....oh yeah, people all switched to magicka, and most people are running the Clever Alchemist set with it. Which means people are going through pots like crazy trying to use their new setup, and the spell power tri-pots are going to be the most preferable for procing the Alchemist buff.

So I farmed for about 45 minutes and sold 75k worth just last night.

So...to answer your question, the price is that high because...wait for it....the demand is that high. Basic economics. The answer: pay the price, or farm and make your own as other people have suggested. As for me, I need to go make more since they all sold out nearly instantly.

Thanks again for the heads up!

Wait, what? Where are you guys seeing or hearing about people buying stacks of potions on PS4 NA for 25k? I once listed stacks of VR15 Tri-Stat Potions for 10k each, and no one touched them. I literally mean no one. They sat there until they expired. So where are you guys seeing people buying them like that at? By the way, they were listed in the trading hubs of Grahtwood and Mournhold.

There is decent food n potion in siege pvp market ap point purchase and gold too.
Still a skilled crafter can be better, but there better then pve merch pots. Or at least most of them.

I don't even bother crafting potions for pvp anymore. They go waaaaaaay too fast and I hate having to cherry pick when to use a crafted potion and when not to. I make some sometimes but I save them for occasions like important 1v1s and stuff. Open world pvp all I need are AP vendor immobile potions for my sorc (pretty damn OP is you ask me lol) and stamina potions for my stamblade.

Now that I have a leveled master alchemist, I gather enough reagents and water just while questing to make plenty of tri pots for all my characters. But not enough to sell. To do that I would need to farm or buy ingredients.

If you think pots are overpriced, you have a business opportunity! Just level up a master alchemist (don't forget to do the writs every day!), put in skill points to max Solvent Proficiency (5pts), Chemistry (3pts), and Laboratory Use (1pt). Soon you'll be making tri-pots like a boss! And you can sell those for whatever you want. If you sell yours for less than everyone else you should be able to sell them as fast as you can make them.

Also -- very big hint here -- invest skill points for ALL of your characters in Keen Eye. This will help you gather many more reagents and waters. I question if it is worth points to have Keen Eye for ore and wood, but for reagents it is well worth the cost -- if you have a master alchemist.

Also don't forget that if you level alchemy for all your other characters you can put points into Medicinal Use to extend pot duration by up to 30%! Then just re-speck your skills to recover all the points you put into other alchemy skills (except on your master alchemist, of course!)

So if you think things are unfairly overpriced, you can do something about it. If after doing all this you decide that the prices weren't so bad after all, you have still gained useful skills and learned something valuable.
