i have a crafting character and never cared about the level of it, so when i needed skill points my friends would protect me as i led everyone to skyshards. now that they no longer play, im wondering if it would be faster to collect skill points by doing specific missions, just grinding to bring my lvl up, or hiring a "bodyguard" to continue what ive been doing.opinions?

pickup all the sky shards, and some quests give skill points.

    - Find a buddy / group to help you complete dungeons. Completing each dungeon's quest grants you 1 SP, and completing public dungeons' event also grants you a SP.
    - If you're on PC, you have a "Skyshards" addon that shows you the location of all skyshards, otherwise there are maps around. Google is your friend.
    - Focus on completing the main quests, when completing a major part of the main quests (both the Molag Bal and your alliance's one), you'll get some skill points.
    - PvP. Find yourself a zerg, spam mutagen / rapid regeneration, repair walls, throw caltrops in the middle of an enemy group. Each PvP rank grants you a skill point.

Main quests are very slow at low level without help or out leveling them.

Skyshards are a bit quicker with a horse and rapid maneuvers.

Probably the quickest way is to get a vr16 buddy to escort you through Wrothgar public dungeon for a few hours with a xp potion on. You will get a ton of xp and level up fast. Once you have enough levels you can quickly and easily kill the quests, skyshards, and public dungeon group events.

Being the low level leader in a group dungeon also works well. They get a quick completion for the key and you get the skill point.

Not knowing what level your character is, I can only give vague advice.
    • Do every delve in each zone, not just for the skyshards. They give a lot of XP first time you kill the boss.
    • Do every main quest(each gives a skill point).
    • While doing the delves, queue for dungeons and do the easy world bosses, along with any dolmens you run into that are up. Low level dolmens are fairly easy to get a group for.
    • Once you're level 15-20, go back and blast through the first zone's main quests for the skill points.

Finally, don't put points in crafting until you have enough skill points. It'll make things faster on you if you focus on the character abilities.

Just to clarify on some of this:
-The Group Dungeons are what give you skill points for quest completion. You get one from the regualar quest and the Vet Dungeon quest
-For Public Dungeons, you get it from killing a specific boss whom you can check in the achievements section of your journal
-You can use this site:http://www.tesoelite.com/eso-skyshards-guide/ to find all of the skyshards
