Should pvp rank be account wide?

Shouldn't it be account wide? Only issue I can see with this is it would allow your new characters to have a couple extra skill points, but I doubt that would cause any real problems anyways. I would really like to hear a good reason why rank shouldn't be shared.

I wrote a poem that I titled, "The ganker's delight."

As you lay upon the ground, cry not little pawn.
The pain will pass as quickly as my blade did take you,
but my delight will last and you will respawn.
My heart simply cannot contain my joy, when I ply my trade.

The fault lies with you, your skill was lacking.
Now your salt is mine forever, can't you hear the laughing?
Once you were so proud and now you are reduced to this.
A miserable, loud deuced fool.

With every tear you drip, with every excuse you let slip.
All of your insecurities and worries bring a smile to my lip.
From your despair I have ripped endless glories,
but our affair is over now. Be afraid for I will return for more.

I have received many titles, to my allies I am The sniper Emperor and Grand champion hero of the Pact. However these titles mean little to me, it is the ones given to me by my victims that I prefer. To them I am "Xv1er", "trash", "no balls", "zerger", "noob", "cringe", "no skill", "camper", "100% new", "the reason this game is dying", "pathetic", "a sack of piece of [snip]", "mediocre", "absolute inbred", "beyond a virgin", "ganky dork", "fat smelly 40yr old virgin", "little girl", "daddy", "exploiting loser", and every [snipped] word known to man.

It should be account wide but based on faction.

So all my AD characters would be one rank but my EP characters would be a different one.

Let's say I got grand overlord on my Templar (which is something I plan on eventually getting), but then I decide I want to play something else like a nightblade. I'll be a walking target if I do so, and I know my nightblade is pretty squishy. I'll basically be giving the achievement away for free. I made my nightblade have very high damage, but low recovery. Whereas with my Templar I can handle multiple people being on me (decent/good recovery and sustain, but low/moderate damage), and I'm not rolling alone as one.

The funny thing is that my nightblade (captain grade 1) has a higher alliance rank than my Templar (first sergeant grade 2).

Man who cares if it would make getting an achievement easier that doesn't even matter. You really going to lose sleep or something over someone getting an achievement off killing you? Eventually lots of people are going to have that rank anyways so its going to be easy regardless.

I would really like to have it on new characters because then it would be less of a grind to get the skill points associated with rank. Grinding is just really annoying to me and any way to reduce it is good id say.

Really don't want this to turn into some long forum debate, but I do care enough not to give an achievement away so easily. Things should be earned and not made easier to get, and to me that challenge makes things more interesting. So that's why I'll disagree, and I agree not everyone is the same. You can go ahead and have the last word since it looks like we're going to have to agree to disagree on this.

No, I really don't see the comparison with that. I mean this is a video game and you are trying to compare it to real life. It isn't any weirder then sharing cps between characters. All my new characters have tons of cp they didn't earn, yet there they are for some mystical reason.

It's an mmo. Parts of it are structured to mimic real life. It's called immersion, and no matter how much we all joke about "omg you're breaking my immershunz," we wouldn't enjoy mmos without it. If you don't like that, then you're playing the wrong genre.

"Hey guys, let's develop a military war in our game, but let's not model it after real life war at all." -- said no video game dev ever.

CPs are account wide to reward the player for overall play experience. This was communicated as their purpose when they were implemented.

Alliance War rank is specific to the character in order to indicate each character's individual contributions to the Alliance War, just like individual members of the military. This was communicated as its purpose when the game launched. Hardcore PvPers are recognized for their ranks on their main characters, and for having multiple high ranked characters (which is really hard to accomplish and takes a lot of time and commitment).

    .

Well, there are a lot of people who would go for that.

    I'm not one of them.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Source? I mean saying that they "communicated" those purposes to us implies that some sort of evidence from the devs own mouths must exist somewhere right? I can't be expected to trust your word on that with no shown proof. Doesn't really matter either way though things can change if we ask for them and people with multiple high ranks can be compensated appropriately if it gets implemented.

More things shared between characters the better I say! Momentos got shared, mounts, pets, cps, and costumes(some of which require a lot of time to get too). Next they should share achievements, ranks, titles, and maybe even skill points(cause lets face it no one likes gathering all those stupid skyshards every time they make an alt).

Faction-wide on your account. So if I have a rank 26 DC and a rank 24 DC and a rank 23 DC, it should be combined to accumulate my proper ranking in DC. I think that puts it at, what? 35 or something, I forget the math when we added it all up awhile back. I think it'd be completely fair to allow that.

After some re-consideration. I'd actually prefer faction wide rather then account wide. Faction wide makes the most logical sense, as your alts collectively demonstrate the effort you put into said alliance. So faction wide would be less grindy while still accurately showing where you put in the most work to show off.
