New Breton Magblade - skills loadout for PVE play?

Leveling up a new breton magblade for mostly pve play, and was wondering what skills are most preferable for grinding/leveling with PVE endgame play in mind. My main's a breton magplar, so I'm not used to magblade mechanics.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

fire ring and sap,sadly they're at the ends of the skill line.use a destro staff with training and slot 3 siphon skills to move it faster

Wall of elements > Elemental Blockade is a very strong DOT in this patch.

NB Skills - Crippling Grasp, Funnel Health, Merciless Resolve, Sap Essence, Siphoning Attack, Impale, Veil of Blades, Soul Harvest
Destro Skills - Wall of Elements (Force Pulse Maybe)
Resto Skills - Healing Ward
Light Armor - Harness Magicka
Mages Guild: Inner Light, Meteor

Those are some great end game skills. Basically any end game build will have most of those

For grind specifically: Sap Essence is your best bet for spamming aoe. Paired with skills above will work well

Alternative for the regular staff user:

DW: crippling grasp / swallow soul / impale / shadowy disguise / inner light // soul tether
SB: sap essence / dark shades / refreshing path / siphing attacks / inner light // veil of blades

This is great pve, both solo and dungeon.
SB i use for aoe tank, and also to pop dark shades and siphoning attacks before a elite/boss fight

Reroll Altmer before you start... Breton (IMO) is only better in PvP.

I am VR5 on my magblade and want to round out some tanking experience. Would you mind posting your overall build, CP, etc. for more insight? All of your skill choices above make since but they differ from some normal tank builds so curious. Thanks, mate. Rotation choice would help as well.

Hello! i Have never tank a trial, but for vet dungeons the build is awesome.

I just have to swap inner light for Ransack. And usually i use 5 light 1 medium 1 heavy for stats bonus, but for real tanking i need to swap to 5 heavy 1 light 1 medium.

I have played around with many builds for tanking but this is what i came up with and love the most.

Rotation: Dark shades before pull (good mitigation for bosses) - siphoning attacks - refreshing path towards the pull - ransack everyone - sap essence spam maintaining dark shades refreshing and ransack as needed.

If your regen is good enough, swap siphoning attacks for swallow soul is a good choice, since the self heals are strong.

Usually i do not give much trouble to healers because the magnb selfhealing is very strong, moreover with swallow soul.

For CPs, its all normal. Magician / Arcanist split. Max elemntal expert than elfborn. Spell shield, hardy, elemental defender split.

For gear, after patches, 5 twilight embrace, 5 song of lamae, and you chose the rest... of course for solo pve its totally different, Julianos etc.

I suggest you to start tanking a few non-vet dungeons and feel yourself this build.

One final question, however...I assume this is a full dump into magicka with runes into whatever areas suit one's style. Is that correct?

I'll never do trials...so i don't need the optimized super build. I like the more plug and play like this.

So all into magicka will do... but if you go for harder content and be a pure tank, i suggest to split 2 / 1 / 1 into mag / health / sta... since you WILL miss some sta for block and ransack (even in reg dungeon), but in regular dungeon you will be able to manage that without kill your group and have plus dps... so for regular dungeons, go full mag, and you will be ready for solo content as well.

I am mostly a solo completionist player... so for me i will stick with 5 light / 1 medium / 1 heavy, DPS/survival gear (julianos/twilight/spell), full mag and the only thing i need to do to tank is to put ransack in the bar. i also will not tank trials. world pve solo and arena. and this is the build for me.

No... most magnb choose ranged style with crippling grasp + swallow soul + impale...

Concealed is nice for a regular rogue style, but theres better options.
