Stamina Nightblade vs. Dragonknight

Hi Everyone!

Making my first alt character right now and I wanted to get some input from a PVE DPS perspective.

Stamina Nightblade vs. Stamina Dragonknight.

So a few things I noticed as core difference – is that the Nightblade has a lot more passives that support a Stamina build in terms of resource generation. I prefer playing DW / Bow as my main 2 bars.

From a PVE perspective I would like to think that Stamina DK’s have a higher output in DPS due to their dot mechanics but I see things such as Killers Blade as an execute being extremely useful.

The reason I started playing stamina is mostly because I wanted to actually use weapon skills Rapid Strikes & Steel Tornado – they seem fantastic abilities for DPS and AOE.

When choosing these classes which is overall better for Stamina PvE DPS?.

What is their playstyle? I am guessing that DK is DoT based rotations and requires a better understanding of timing skills than a NB does? How does the NB stack up to this?

Also – I look at things like Standard of Might vs. Veil of Blades? Are they similar?
When it comes to access to Major Brutality – I see right off the bat DK’s have a much better access from Indig Weapons providing both 20% Major Sorc and 20% Major Brut.

How about sets for DPS?
Nightmothers Gaze….Both NB and DK have access to major breach through Surprise Attack and also Fiery Breath’s stamina morph…is this set useful for the 5 piece?
Hundings Rage – clearly a great set and DPS burst
Morkuldin looks GREAT – I love the idea of summoning a weapon to aid me! Is the DPS worth the 5 piece? What weapon does it summon?
Essence Thief? I love the idea of that as it would Sync well with Molag Kena but is it PVP only?
Maw of the Infernal? Again would this be a good Sync with Morkuldin?
Thanks for the help and input guys – I am LEANING towards Dragonknight as some of the class skills look better suited but im VERY curious about the Nightblade

I play Dualsword stam DK with heavy armor for PvP and medium hundings and nightmother for Trials and dungeons.

I have the time of my life with a true warrior using weapons to strike down enemies.

Morkuldin summons a sword. It counts as a pet for the few bonuses like a couple sorc skill morphs and the Master of the Hunt set's purposes. Even those bonuses do not make it good, though. It's only utility I've found is at lower levels that mobs that are almost dead will be finished off by the sword while you get on with wherever you were going.

Essence Thief is probably best for tanks or stam sorcs who need extra self-healing.

Maw of Infernal summons something that also counts as a pet and is also terrible.

I personally think the 100% proc rate for Spawn of Mephala and the 70% snare is great for melee, as it holds things relatively still for you.

Major Breach is indeed fantastic. The fire DoT not so much, as you want Physical, Poison or Disease for your Mighty CP passive. There's not too many Sets that give Poison or Disease damage.

    Stam NB is fun but...

A DK spamming talons is a Stam NBs worst nightmare.

It rips Nightblades out of cloak and holds them in place.

At that point its a matter of can you out dmg the stam NBs vigor/rally combo and kill him b4 you run outta resources.

Better against Magblade cause them to waste stam but for a Stamblade you can dodge roll out of talons. So their counters plus you still damage the DK while Talon.

In PvE dps DKs are better.

Also, standard vs veil doesn't matter because you won't use any of them as a stam dps :)

PVE Stam DK > Stam NB hands down Exectutioner is just as good as killers blade and wrecking blow is better than surprise attack in sustained dps. Stamplars and Stam Sorcs in PvE are quite competitive too.

For PvE, stam dk has significantly better dps with Maelstrom daggers + dots. The lack of an execute doesn't really hurt a dw/bow stam dk - they do really high dps all the time, and Flurry will get stronger once they drop below 25% health anyway. Standard of Might's 20% damage buff is massive - and as a pve dps nightblade, you really shouldn't run veil unless your group needs the mitigation (Soul Harvest is superior).
As for sets, Night Mother is best, but only one dps in the group needs to run it - the 5 piece stacks with other armor debuffs, but not with reductions from other people running the set. If someone in your group is running 5 piece NM, then Hunding's is better than basically any other option. Morkuldin is underwhelming and Maw of the Infernal is considered a bit of a joke. Essence Thief - I'd love to offer an opinion on it, but I haven't actually gotten it to drop in any kind of halfway decent traits.

I do love my stamblade - but from a pure dps perspective, stam dk outshines stam nb.
Stam is fun though - and a werewolf's burst potential is downright silly.
I play all classes, but I main Stamina Nightblade and Stamina Templar
