Running ESO on older Graphics Cards (Unsupported DirectX Version)

taleof4gamers2012b16_ESO
Hey,
I am here to help anyone who may across this issue.
This will affect you if you have an old Graphics card or a dated Integrated Chipset.
In this we will make ESO use a version on DirectX that our graphics cards support.
1) Firstly you will want to open start menu and search for "dxcpl" and press enter.
2) At the top you will then want to press "Edit List"
3) You will now find and add the ESO Client, I added eso64.exe and eso.exe to make sure. (These are located in your install directory then \game\client)
4) Then press "Ok", Tick the box which says "Force Warp" and finally press "Ok".
It is now completed.

If you have any issues than please try changing the "Feature Level Limit" to a 10_X or try a 9_X.
Thanks.

If someone could answer me why they abandoned older versions altogether whereas new games supported multiple versions.
Zenimax have been terrible at optimization since the start and abandoning DX 9/10 is a odd move.

Would you mind adding some screenshots by chance?
I tried to follow along with your instructions, but after step 1, nothing else seems to line up with what I'm finding.
    Thanks!

This is not really a solution if you actually want do to more than just watch a slideshow.

Before I upgraded to a newer video card, I had a pair of 6.5 year old nVidia GTS 250's. I tried this solution and got anywhere between 0-3FPS. It's a 3.2Ghz machine with 4 real and 4 virtual cores, and 12G memory, so the bad FPS wan't because of the system, software rendering is just painfully slow. I actually had better video response playing on a different machine through VNC.

This is as I understand it - ESO may put it differently:
As to why they stopped supporting older video cards, I think it's because they're trying to offload graphics work to the GPU instead of having the CPU sending a steady stream of commands to the card. They want to use the CPU for other things, run smoother, and also want the game to look better. They can't do this while using DX9.

I do think better warning to get newer video card would have been helpful. I didn't find out until I tried to run ESP after the TG patch.

    What OS are you on?
This is for Windows 7 but may be the same for Windows 10, I will look into it if so.

Yeah it lags like a ***** but for a lot of people they cannot afford newer graphics cards. (I for one)
I know how it feels to be locked out of a game due to System Requirements and yes they should have at least warned us first. This does not truly fix their silly optimization though as a lot more recent games still support DX10 at the very least.

    EDIT:
At the very least people can attempt this is see where it gets them so that they have not immediately wasted money on a game/subscription that they can no longer play.

Here is the direct link to the stuff you need to install for this.
Sorry, I had just been a bit confused, as the dxcpl that was on my system before installing this did not have the Force Warp option. After you install the SDK then you should be able to do that!

I've been trying to get this method to work all night with no luck. The SDK you linked to finally gave me a box with the force warp option, but its still giving me the directx not supported error.

I'm using a geforce 210 that only goes up to directx10.1 and I'm going to keep trying, but anyone know what I may be missing or messing up?

Still nothing done about them having people pay for the game and then locking you out and taking your money?
