Farming Dolmen Bosses

Are dolmen bosses actually guaranteed to drop a piece now?

I farmed the Lich of Mournhold with three people today and all three of us received no boss drop, only regular dolmen loot (treb, treasure map, coins, green gear).

Kind of disappointed to say the least :(

    You are guaranteed a piece of something from the boss in the end chest, if the boss spawns. So if you are not within 5 levels in your own faction then you won't even get the chest.

    Try them in veteran zones or Cyrodiil

    i am v16 in Cyrodiil, I got the lich of mournhold, we did not get a drop from the chest.

    I dont know what you mean within five levels in your own faction?

    I've done a bunch of dolmens since the patch, going after my last boss and I can say that it is definitely NOT every boss spawn. I cant recall how many we did over the weekend, at least 50 with boss spawn maybe 10-12 times and I got 1 boss drop, from those.

    @LMar, the OP is not talking about not getting a chest at the end, specifically about getting Boss Drops.

    As someone who has farmed over 500+ dolmens solo i have one thing to say.....

    I have not gotten 1 piece of the Lich. I have gotten these : 2 encasement of anguish, Volars Crescent Staff, Ice Staff of Nomeg Haga, Bow of Heritage Set and a couple other pieces of Heritage set.

    Its very hard to acquire.

    However i chat with Wrobel in inbox and he has said to me that dolmens in cryodill were getting drop chance changes. That could mean nothing but yeah.

    From 2.3.5 patch notes

    Updated the rewards for defeating Dark Anchor bosses with unique names. Now, when you kill one and loot the chest that spawns, you will always receive one of that boss's unique items.

    At one point this WAS working. I got a piece from every boss. Now, I do not know.

    I rarely get the special drop from anywhere...be it dolmens, delves or world bosses. RNG is not my friend.

    You're lucky you can get a boss to spawn. Run Cyro 5 times (laps) and not a single boss came out the other day. I don't believe they exist. I don't even care for the set I just want the achievement, near 3k hours and still not done it.

    I have done over 240 dolmens and only gotten the boss 4 times now, gotten drops 2 times (of 100% we should get) and am still missing 4 generals. I won't have completed all of the generals by the time i get the 250 dolmens unless a miracle happens :lol:

    so.. yeah not lucky, i've done a LOT of dolmens. and i mean a LOT.

    What does the achievement give you, a dye color?

    The chieve for generals gives you a color and the title Daedric Lord Slayer, the destroy 250 anchors gives you a color and title Enemy of Coldharbor.

    I got my 250 the other day, hunting that damn Pirate for my last boss, hes being very elusive lol!

    Buddy you are definitely doing it wrong if you are going for the Slayer achievement. Each of the generals is guaranteed to spawn in groups in your Alliance zone. So if you are missing a specific, find out which group applies to which zone and go camp a dolmen in that zone; the info is out there on this. Its how I got the achievement. It's a tedious achievement but not nearly so as the Master Angler.
    Baskin Robbins always finds out.

    Perhaps he's trapped underneath the College of Winterhold; try checking there.

    Yep. There are four in each of your four Alliance zones. There will never be any Generals in the first Alliance zone (Stonefalls, Glenumbra and Auridon) and they go in order of the achievement.

    For example EP has Stonefalls (Zone 1), Deshaan (Zone 2), Shadowfen (Zone 3), Eastmarch (Zone 4) and The Rift (Zone 5).

    In Veteran zones the General spawn is totally random from the entire pool of Generals as far as I recall. I remember doing about 100 Dolmens just to get Ozzozachar in The Rift.

    Tedious, but doable with enough time, farming the bosses is very hard however since once you're above the level of the zone you won't get loot. Assuming a 25% chance of spawning a General and a 6.25% chance of spawning any particular General then in Cyrodiil you only have about a 1.5% chance of getting a particular General on any specific dolmen attempt.

    Velehk? I actually killed him and got his sword on 2 characters and RNG isn't my friend in this game.

    Speaking of multiple characters, does the general kills tally between them or do you have to do it all on one?

    I heard some people talking about this in area chat.

    No the set pieces are not a guaranteed drop. There is A guaranteed drop, but not set.

    Also, by the looks of it, those set pieces are still holding the usual prices. If there was such a thing then the market would be the first to show it.

    There is a guaranteed drop of the boss's unique item according to patch notes. Pretty sure a coldfire ballista isnt a boss's unique item.

    Character level must be = to or < 5 NPC levels.
    So if you're VR16 you can only get drops from NPCs whose levels are VR11 to VR21

    Why do you have to be in your own faction though?
