Discussion on the PvP Faction imbalance on PS4 EU server:
To be clear from the start, this isn't a crying or moaning thread (so tired of seeing negative threads)... I love the game, love PvP, and have had some questions in my mind for a while on the state of PvP and how it can possibly be improved. As I am fairly new to the forums I thought it might make for an interesting an insightful discussion to hear from the PvP community here on the forums, and to learn what others think on these issues.
The game has been out on PS4 console since June 2015... not even a year yet. On the PS4 EU server, currently, every PvP campaign is dominated by EP Reds. Every campaign has 3 bars for Red, with Yellow and Blue at 1 or rarely 2 bars. This shows that PvP players on PS4 EU are predominantly EP by a large percentage.
It seems to be a big imbalance, and one which in my own opinion has started to make PvP Campaigns a bit boring or futile at times on the EU server (as the underdog) with every campaign map being dominated by Reds, or Reds and Blues due to the current 'Red-Blue Allliance' that seems to have been here for a few months now (Reds and Blues fighting side by side and only attacking Yellow).
Second in PvP population seems to be DC Blues, and currently the underdog are AD Yellows.
What personally attracted me to the game back in June 2015, was the PvP. I thought it was an awesome design to have a war with three factions rather than two, and believed there would likely be more balance in PvP with a choice of three factions, as some games get one sided with just two PvP faction choices. On release, PvP was amazing, with lots of strategy and some amazing players met online.
Observations
For a few months now I have noted some interesting observations from PvP that seem to occur in most campaigns.
Over time the campaigns seemed to change in balance and the numbers started to pile up on the Red and Blue side, while Yellows became the minority that would sometimes only be in one campaign, or not really have a foothold in any campaign. While I have regularly come up against some really fantastic Blue players and learnt quite a bit from them as I lay bleeding on the battlefield

I haven't had the same experience from Red players, who mostly seem to swarm in zergs (though to be fair it may just be because they are in mostly in a swarm). I've noticed that Yellows seem to have a personal beef with Reds and although all the points and scrolls and objective may be over in the Blue zone, or the Blues are invading from the left, the few Yellows online seem obsessed to charge across Alesia bridge and seem to suffer an Obessive Compulsiveness to continually attack Sejanus Outpost (even when everything they need is in the opposite direction), and even ignoring the Blues to do this, and thus just continue to lose. There seems to be a Red-Blue Alliance, and over the last few months I have personally witnessed on a great many occasions, Reds and Blues fighting side by side to squash us pesky Yellow minority

Or even taking turns getting Emperor, taking all the castles while the opposite faction holds back the few yellows online, only to then swap around.
So I have been having some questions in my mind on this for a while and thought it would make for an interesting or enlightening discussion to put to the PvP forum community here, to learn what experienced PvP players (Red, Blue and Yellow) in the forum community think or feel about this imbalance on the PS4 EU server? ...how this PvP imbalance came to be? ...and if the same sort of imbalance happens on other servers? ...and why people think that it happens in the first place?
Questions:
I'll number the questions, and if you feel like joining in and answering one you can use the numbers or title to highlight your thoughts.
1: Do you as a PvP player, feel that there is a Faction imbalance on the PS4 EU Server campaigns?2: Why do you think most players choose to go Red?
Sometimes I wonder if when creating a PvP character, people decide to join EP Reds simply because they are the most dominant PvP faction, and of course people want to play on the winning side of a campaign? What do you think? (especially interested in comments from Red players as you have all chosen to be Red for one reason or another).
3. Has there ever been an actual poll or statistic to measure the player Faction population?4: Did you prefer to choose a Faction to play, or do you like to play a PvP character in all factions?4: What made you choose your faction?5: A question for PvP players on other servers... Was wondering if this same imbalance appears on other servers susch as PS4 NA, XBox, PC and Mac servers, or whether there is more balance, or maybe a different variety of imbalance?4: Lastly, was wondering if anyone has ever thought of a possible good solution to create more balance in the campaigns in terms of regulating Faction presence? If so, please share your thoughts
Just to share my own experience... I have 6 characters now, all are AD underdogs, and I'm happy with my choice of faction as I played out the stories and environments for all and really liked the AD territories (love those forests), storyline and characters the most. I decided to play for a faction rather than have a character in each, so I picked a side, made a guild with some friends, and we all just kinda stayed there and made more characters in that faction. I think I've had the most fun in the baby campaign (Blackwater Blade), but this might just be because it was all new to many of us on the PS4 at that time, or maybe because the population in that campaign is lower with less lag and zergs. Azura Star was great fun for a while, but recently I feel campaigns have gotten a little unbalanced, and the current lag problems in Cyrodiil have made it a bit frustrating at times. However, I still enjoy PvP and regularly play, and I love Imperial City sewers.
