AP/Gold Monster Helmet. Do you like it?

Xandyaffonso
As the title says, do you like this new update, where every week a vendor will appear for two days (I heard that it is in the weekends) and sell a monster shoulder or helmet for 200AP or 100k gold? Do you think that the price should be lower? Or higher? Or that he should stay there every day, and just change the items each 2 days? Any other thoughts?

Personally, I think that it is okay the way it is, yet the only thing that I would change is that I would make the vendor sell the whole set every time, not just one part. For example, one day you can buy the helmet and the shoulders of Engine Guardian.

It's an okay addition to the game.

I still want people to actually run the content in order to get the "best". If you've played Destiny, remember the outrage over the 2nd sale of the Gjallarhorn after 40+ weeks?

If the traits were more diverse than Infused, then I would. At the moment, no, I don't like it.

Let's assume they offer each piece in every trait as well. You will still have to wait about 20 weeks for a full rotation for that undaunted helm or shoulder to appear again.

Should be infused helms then divines/impen shoulder's then i'd be happy.

If you buy with ap then you get impen, if you use gold then you get divines.

It's 200k AP, not just 200AP btw. I like it, it's nice to have access to them. I wish the vendor's inventory changed between the 2 days, but it's fine in it's current state. The pricing is fine, I know some people claim it's too low, but they never seem to remember newer players coming to the game need to be able to get these items too.. the pricing places them perfectly in line with "easy to obtain if you've been here a while" and "far enough away a new player can't get it but not so high as feeling unobtainable"
"Why settle for just stabbing your foes when you can roast them alive in a gout of arcane fire?"

I like it, but I think the that the costs are a bit low for gold/AP. I can outfit most of my characters in a single weekend. I think it would have been a nice addition as a gold sink, but the cost is surprisingly affordable.

I don't mind it one bit, I have no need to buy any. I got everything in the traits I want, and more. I'll just keep my ap for something else. I do think it's a good addition though.

I like it for sure. Allows people with terrible luck to finally get these sets as well. PvP gains enormous value too (AP sink, buy AP set pieces, sell for gold).

Only issue there might be right now is PvE vet pledges need something extra to add more incentive I think.

Never had an opinion of this being implemented before it actually happened, so from that neutral standpoint I really do like it.

Love the new vendor, love the price and was excited to hear about plans to make versions of these items with the impen trait available for Alliance Points. Finally we can earn the gear which is useful for PVP by participating in PVP.

Some players enjoy running PVE dungeons over and over. In my case I find this activity extremely boring. If I have only a few hours to play, I'd rather spend that time in Cyrodiil.

Many of those exclusively interested in the PVP side of the game, or some other aspect of ESO beside the vet pledges had previously written off obtaining the monster helm sets.

Not only do we now have a way to collect these, but the schedule makes it a fun incentive to spend a bit more time playing to earn 400k AP or so, enough to buy a couple of these items each week. Also kind of fun that we have no idea which sets will be available.

I'd like a new "undaunted" currency to be put in place for PvE players to buy the helms etc. in the same way. Sure we can buy them for gold right now but playing PvE doesnt mean PvE players have gold.. in reality PvP players probably earn more gold considering most PvE content doesn't provide any valuable BoE items to sell whereas PvP does with rewards of the worthy/campaign rewards/other BoE items purchasable with AP.

Sure, it's fine. I am glad that they are changing the AP gear to Impen, though there is no telling how many months it will take for that change to be made.

Not a fan. Makes all the time I spent grinding for the things I have pointless. Nothing I can do to change it so no point in complaining. Changes I would make to the vendor are higher cost for items and have it be random trait just like the RNG for the traits are for boss drops/pledge chest.

I wish they'd cost more but then again, I think fun and easy gear-grind is good way to transfer players into endgame, you dont want to hit them with some sick grind. Usually endgame is seen as burden than anything, so give big slice first then smaller and smaller after that.

    I like it.

I have pretty much all monster sets in some shape or form.

Shoulders being infused isn't great, but at least it isn't well fitted and I get to choose the weight. So I'll take that.

I absolutely LOVE it. I hate grinding dungeons for rng drops. This change makes me really happy. I can play the way I want to and just earn gold and buy the thing I want.

Now if I could those Undaunted passives or their equivalent through pvp or some other way...

I'm ok with the pricing, I just need to wait til Volkan Skoria is available for my DK.
I have helmets but both are light with outright terrible traits (Well-fitted and Reinforced) so lnfused is a large step up from that and I will gladly take it.
My DK doesn't PvP regularly and has literally nothing to use his AP on so I can live with this.
Besides, I despise running vCOA so anything to skip that terrible dungeon gets a + in my books.

I'd rather them leave them up longer. I had no problem personally, but I do know of a few guild members who were out of town over the weekend who missed out. I don't think it would hurt anything to leave the vendor up a day or two longer or even the whole week.

I Like the idea but the sets are way to cheap. They should be atleast 500k AP/250k gold imo.

With the new update it is so easy to get AP. It is like 4hours of pvp for 200k AP..

I know many new players that don't even get 200k AP if they PvP 5 nights in a row...

That statement is inconsiderate of those players.

I think they made a good choice with the pricing as @catalyst10e said close enough for them to feel obtainable, yet far enough that they aren't.

Your suggestion would just demoralise them into not even trying

Over 1k AP a kill 200k AP is a piece of ***. Spam heals, siege and take part on combat it's so easy to rake in AP. If you just camp out trying to be an opportunist and take out weak / wounded people and do nowt in between then you'll get nothing...commit to the cause properly and you'll rake in tons of AP.

    iirc
    1. that was following a nerf to it in which it was still the best, but massively less effective.
    2. it was before a DLC release so helped people get a head-start.

Finally, I guess the difference between the two is that Ghorn could drop from anywhere: a random purple engram dropped from an enemy at any level below you to the boss of a raid so the outrage wasn't justified IMO. Whereas Monster sets are exclusive to certain content so I can understand in a sense. However, 100k gold or 200AP is fair IMO. It's not like in Desting where 2 hours running the weeklies gets you enough coins.

Love it. I have almost every helm and shoulder; many of them duplicates. The vendor lets me correct some of the horrible RNG and get the weight I want. Infused is not what I would pick, but compared how many I have with well-fitted or light reinforce... infused is just fine.

The price is about right, too. Expensive, but not out of range for most players if the one they really want the one that shows up that week.
Spam heals, siege and take part on combat it's so easy to rake in AP.

Not everyone runs behind a zerg spamming mutagen to leech AP. It's better for PvP if we encourage people to play the game in different ways. Gankers, small groups, bridge defense... these all lead to a region that isn't just zergs running from keep to keep left clicking their siege weapons.

I love this vendor, I've gotten two helms that have eluded me no matter how many times I've downed the boss. Now I can experiment with more builds and generally have more fun without having to spend weeks trying to drum up a vet darkshade farming group every night.
