She's most likely sleeping in Dimhollow Crypt where the last dragonborn finds her... Timeline of events isnt totally clear about specifically when she was put there

If I worked at ZOS, I'd troll Skyrim fans by opening up Dimhollow Crypt when the zone opens, and have a quest that goes there. All throughout the crypt you hear a woman's voice (Serana) and maybe see a projector and then . . . The way to the final level down to the crypt is blocked. Sad times. Lol.

How long did Serana say she had been buried there?

No voice, just that pillar you can interact with but you just see a message that reads "nothing happened" leading people to believe theres more to the puzzle.

She doesnt specify exactly when just some vague dialog and mentions past emperors that places her about mid second era. Personally I'd hope she is asleep because if she was around for the planemeld and then went to sleep before its conclusion I'd expect when the dragonborn finds her, one of the first things she would has asked about was if Molag Bal succeeded.

ha nice. She's never heard of the Empire in Cyrodiil so she's been down there dusty for a long time.

Here is the sad truth, Serana is ancient compared to the Dragonborn, She is ancient compared to the Vestige as well, Don't expect her father to ever appear though and even if he did he wouldn't be an enemy because their is dialogue in Skyrim where it is stated that Harkon is undefeated as hundreds have failed in trying to slay him and if he were a badguy in ESO, then that wouldn't be the case now would it.

Oh yeah Zernimax would also have to explain why her skin colour is pale as snow and looks like she is of Lamae Bal's clan when she is not.

Actually, Serana is late First Era/early Second Era.

When she was rescued in the Fourth Era by the Last Dragonborn, she admits to having no knowledge (and quite a bit of surprise at the notion) of an Empire with Cyrodiil as its seat.

This means she was put into the ground before the Alessian Conquest of Tamriel, which makes Serana ancient even by Divayth Fyr standards...

    ;)

Divayth Fyr though... there's a Dunmer I'd love to run into during my travels. :D

She is also a 3000+ year old corpse preserved by her Vampirism (That's seems a bit 2 old for my taste) at least although I doubt a Vampire sweats so they would not smell as bad as a mortal would, although she would probbaly still need a shower.

    From Bethesda employee Matt Grandstaff:

When did Serana get put to sleep? (09/05/2013)

"The intention was that Serana went to sleep in the late second era, between the Reman and Septim empires. Her initial dialogue is just her surprise that there’s an Empire in Cyrodiil, as there hadn't been when she went to sleep."

Well you guys have to wait til the forth era to see her again :D
I do like her and she was a well put together npc.
I joined the vampires in the dawnguard dlc was not much a fan of the dawnguard people.
But if only the armor looked like that when I played through the dlc that looks epic!
They need to add more stuff like that to eso.

While it would have been nice to include certain aspects of Molag Bal's character into ESO (seeing as he's the main antagonist); the how of one becoming a Daughter of Coldharbor is too much to show for even a Mature 17+ rated game.

The "Conservative Right Wing" here in 'Murica would have had a collective stroke had they included that in this game.

This is why it would have to be the First Era unless she was clueless about history, which would seem odd for someone who was clearly part of the gentry (I believe her father was a King was he not?). The first human Emperor was an Empress, Alessia, though her rule didn't tie together the whole of Tamriel. Emperor Reman did however gain control of most of Tamriel. Tiber Septim is the one who manages to actually conquer through warfare and ambassadorship all the provinces of Tamriel. Its been a while but it may be that she specified being shocked that a human emperor ruled the whole of Tamriel, I don't believe that is what Serana said in the storyline though. At any regard I'm fairly certain Serana is a late First Era vampire, predating Alessia.

Actually Aleesia was early first era, she was the one that over threw the Ayleid Empire in the year 242 1E, the only Vampires that predate her would be the Likes of Lamae Bal and a few others, I heard somewhere that she was turned in 105 1E.

Serana is most likely from the late first era and went to sleep in the mid 2nd era maybe a century or so before ESO takes place.
